whats the right way to warm your bike up in cold weather?
volcrano replied to BigMatt's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
matt, idling is not even bad,it can foul plugs and load up ur bike if your jetting is wrong but if your not fouling plugs i wouldnt worry about letting it idle.i always start her up on choke and leave it choked for about 10 seconds, maybe lil less-keep it choked long enough so it will stay running when u turn it off then idle it for like 15 secs.then i keep mine off idle slightly for about 30 seconds then blip the throttle, let idle for about 10 secs and then off idle and blip.i then check the cylinder not the pipe.the pipe will heat up faster than the jugs and although it might not be bad to do that-i check the jugs.that tells me the piston is ready to go.ill just rev a little and keep blipping to clear fuel while i randomly touch the cylinder to make sure its warm, not lukewarm, like 100 degrees.i still putt for a second until about 115-then give er hell.your probably still good at 100 but i like to be safe-i anal about that shit.i also have a trail tech,i got the vapor -
the arms are nice quality-the heims on the spindle blow ass.trail riding and getting dirt and mud on em-you'll need ur spinach popeye to steer the fucking thing.my budddy packed grease on his and wire tied plastic bags around them.doesnt look the greatest but steering is nice as it should.any lube you put on them to make them slide nice will collect dirt and make them squeak and be hard to turn with.if your gonna use the heims-i would try graphite instead,my .2 cents.

volcrano replied to redneckrider78's topic in Riding and Events Forum
yo yo-im in ak rowdy.been looking for hq'ers myself.i know of a few spots in the canton area, how bout u??? -
definately port ur cyls.the 421 is mainly set up for drag racing, wot shit.the trails a ported stock cyl,or 4 mil stock cyl. will do u just fine.setting the timing to 0 will give u better top end pull,if ur motor has pulling power, try upping a tooth on the front sprocket for a lil more speed.

need help ! :) nearly outa idea's
volcrano replied to dirtydownunder's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
alll my buddies that run aftermarket coils have sputtering problems,i dont know whats up with those things.u try closing the gap on your plugs in case it is blowing the spark out?whats ur timing at?u dont really need to be running the 1/2 av gas either, thats really for 150+ psi.the av gas doesnt have anything to do with ur problem but u could save a lil money.did u change anything recently??my cpi pipes did that shit bout the same spot.i had to sell em. -
for these temps right now id go 160 main and 50 pilot,1 1/2 turns out, needle in middle.n68a needles are the best for these carbs.

probably for people to have the right assortment for temperature/humidity changes, which will increase performance with correct jetting for the conditions presented, now that is unless they put the stock 200 jets in there which then i agree is reatrded and a waste of time and money for the vendor if not consumer.i dont care what jet u have in there-shit is not gonna start 2nd kick in the winter.its fucking cold and nothing likes to be cold.keep kicking and pray for spring.
-
u guys are fucking idiot assholes.i just sold my el chupachabra pipes and they would spank the gapers and ghosts.
-
i agree,it really does sound like u spit a ring tho.it will still run-on the cylinder that still has rings.i overheated once and same scenario.bike took a while to start, made clunking noises and did a comp test and had 110 in one side and 20 in the other.dont try and ride it till u check into it to prevent more damage to cyl walls and having to bore too much to compensate for deep ring gouges.hope thats not it for ya.

epic fail my friend.your bearings look like schrapnel inside and are literally probably dust by now with some of the race being the only junk left.your bolt is probably rusted to shit in the swinger spacer/collar inside,in which the collar is probably egg-shaped on one end or stuck on the bearing race.mine was FUCKED when i took it apart.sounds like u havent done ur swinger maintenance in a while-which i dont either-too much shit to take apart for a quick lube but then u get the problem.best thing to do is keep beating the shit out of it and try and work it back and forth and spray lube as much as u can when the bolt comes out slowly in either direction.worst case,u gotta sawzall it on both sides of the motor and get a new bolt.id keep beating the shit out of it-its already fucked and the kits they sell have everything-even the bolt if u need one.

take a s.o.s pad to them and scrub ur nuts off.grab some blue magic or wizards metal polish-even brasso works.have a buddy hold them down and glob shit on a buffing pad and go to town.theyll be blingin-not like new chrome but dude theyll look good enough for the money ull save.ive even thought about ht black powdering mine from the ring that meets ut jug to the first weld.thats usually the only part that will come out not as perfect as ud like.even new pipes rust or blue down there quickly unless you clean them very well and spray em with wd-40.try it dude-ull shit,i did.clear em after that-autozone should have a high temp clear or an autobody supply store.even if it comes off after a while im sure u could soak em in laquer thinner and strip em.not sure if the clear would turn brown or burn tho..its a coin flip.just polish em and spray em with wd after every wash and/or ride.

hope you get well soon jesse, thats a blessing your still here bro.we pray for a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

32:1 is exactly 4 oz. per 1 gallon.you should never go past 40:1 and i dont know why some people on here do.the less oil-the less lube.if u got a $500 bottom end bet ur ass its gonna have plenty of oil in the mix.unfortunately it does sound like u locked her up.hope not but overheating with little lubrication is dangerous!
-
definately grab a case saver!!!!!!!!!!

are the plugs almost completely new or just real lean?the cut out issue is a lean condition,as well as misfire/backfire.i would start at at lleast 300 main since the weather is cold.keep upjetting main until you get a little burble/gurgle on WOT.back down to the size before it started that.ur main will be good.i also agree with the 27.5 pilots.it has to make a difference, just pay more attention and let idle for 20 seconds between air screw adjustments for engine to respond to the changes.even with a wrong size pilot it will still idle fine, just of idle you'll find its not right.do the main and pilot,u might or might not need the dynojet/aftermarket needles depending on how the bike likes the changes.dont get needles till u do both jet circuits tho.

hey guys-i broke the body on one of my 28 pwk carbs.i have new internals so even if u have a nice uncracked body im interested.i dont even need the bowl just the body but if u have the complete carb let me know thanks.

Any tips on securing a Banshee in a garage to keep it safe?
volcrano replied to jon321's topic in General Banshee Discussion
i agree u definately need security.im not saying put insurance on it and park it by ur mailbox with a key in it,im just saying besides a chain to a post on the garage, insurance will give you money.i know it doesnt cover the time and pride put in,but id rather recover something monetary than nothing at all if it ever were to happen.mines insured by progressive, ive had claims before (not for theft tho)and they have always treated me good.i hope to god i never have to turn in a claim on one of my shees being stolen.id prolly sport the guilly suit in the trails with a 9mm looking for a fucker on it lol, seriously tho. -
Any tips on securing a Banshee in a garage to keep it safe?
volcrano replied to jon321's topic in General Banshee Discussion
simple.put insurance on it.mines insured for 2500 with 5000 in aftermarket parts.dont have that but u keep ur reciepts and ull get paid on top of the bike, plus if u dump it off a mountain its paid for.worth the $75 a year!!!thats cheaper than storage and 10 chains and padlocks and assault rifles and tanks and whatnot. -
dude-my stocker with vitos superstock pistons and fatties blew 450s by 2 bikes all day long.port it pipe it and enjoy the outcome.little work and u should eat that 450 easily.never had one-or a raptor 700 pass me-EVER.
