4 mill crank questions
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to coalhillking's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have a 4mm stroker on stock port cylinders. I use the provided spacer plate and even with stock port cylinders it rips. If you don't want to use a spacer plate than you will have to have the cylinders ported for the 4mm. -
If you were looking to extract every bit of power out of that motor and didn't care about having to rebuild after a few runs than higher timing is ok. but if you you are looking for longevity than lower timing is better for you. As stated above with your combo you will be happy with staying at 4*. I would rather ride back to my truck than get towed....

35 keihin carb (2-1 set up)opinions??
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Drizzy's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I kept having problems with my stock 26's. I got a 2 into 1 (or some say 1 into 2) with a 38mm air striker carb and the damn thing runs 100% better. before I was emptying the bowls of all the fuel and now I have no issues. I have also gone to the dunes a few times and personally I didn't notice any power loss in the top end. I'm sure a dyno might prove me wrong.... Some love them some hate them. -
No Spark, just died
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Thats what Shee said's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Mine did that while I was warming it up. I started replacing everything. As soon as I put a new CDI box on it fired right up. (May not be your problem) If you have a friend with a Banshee swap out CDI boxes an see if yours fires right up... -
Banshee hard to start?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Josh_bodine's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
When you turned the screw out you changed the air fuel ratio to lean. That is going to be one reason why it does not want to start. Running too lean will lead to reduced weight in your pistions via holes. I would have started with reading the plugs and checking spark at the plugs. When is the last time the plugs were changed? How is the condition of the wires and coil? Are there any mods to the bike?- 24 replies

Driving to Glamis from the east coast
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Tommygunn's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have made the trip from the northern end of Detroit a few times. I traveled to San Diego and with 2 drivers it took 42 hours non stop. Rest stop and gas station food can get old. I do plan on making another trip but that will be next year. Good luck with the trip and have fun... -
TORs removal done - Now starting issues
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to diesel60's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If this is dumb I apologize. But did you unplug all the TORS plugs? Not just off the carbs but off the throttle and the clutch? I got a wire diagram and cut mine off the CDI box also. -
foot peg bolt hole repair?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to VictorK's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Are you kidding me???? I don't know what type of drill bit you are using but I use carbide drill bits and it is harder that hell to drill into... I just tapped mine out to 7/16 and have not had a problem in this 6 years it has been done. -
What spark plug you running?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to STETLER's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Fixed... I run B8ES and/or BR8ES. If they are out of the B8ES I will get the resistor plug. -
Like most of my junk this might be a fluke but my bike runs pretty good with the Trinity 2 into 1 intake with the 38mm air striker.

Are all pipes the same?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to kingsley's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
X2 Those fattys are good for a slightly modified (stock) bike. But not made for the big bore set up. -
Performance Slow Down
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to vizmark's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There is no need to rebuild a perfectly good top end...... In my opinion it sounds like you might have a fuel issue. Have the carbs ever been apart for a cleaning after the jetting? How do your reeds look? (assuming you have stock they are probably cracked or warped) SYZ -
That thing is going to vibrate in a bad way. Which could cause the basket to come apart. If that happens it could damage the crankcase. It is not worth the risk. But if your friend has money flowing out of his ears than go for it.

Goes then Dies, inconsistent
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Queppa's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The TORS (Throttle Over Ride Switch) has a tendency to cut spark. Sometimes do to a faulty switch. The easiest way is to unplug the TORS system from the carbs, thumb throttle and brain box. If that fixes your problem you are on your way. If not it was a cheap way to start. Good luck SYZ -
392 Athena Big bore
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to 1998BansheeLover's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Save your money for a good set. Those just don't seem to be reliable. -
The bearings should have a retainer ( c-clip). If that is not in the groove you will just smash your bearing down.

stubburn flywheel
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Nutwood 472's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have heard of people using an air hammer on the center of the crank snout. the vibrations break the flywheel free. I would also soak it with some PB Blaster for a few hours. (I have heated the part up and sprayed the penetrating lube on while hot to seep in. I heard candle wax will do the same. Good luck. -
Boost bottle is it worth it is a
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to MacRacer1's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There are only a few hundred members here that have proven the Boost Bottle POS theory. Like said get something that you will notice a gain with.. Adj timing plate, new carbs or some port work. -
Toomey 2:1 foam filter
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to James-26's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I ran that toomey 2 into 1 air filter setup for 2 years. As soon as I put the K&N pods on I noticed a BIG difference in mid range power. I personally would not recommend the Toomey. Who ever says that the pods are not good for an unported engine must not have ever used the pods. -

worth the 28 hour drive?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to Wheelman Chassis's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I think you are a little off on your 28 hour drive... I live just north of Detroit and I drive out there once a year and it takes 42 hours non stop to get to San Diego so take off 3-4 hours for the Glamis to San Diego and you have around 38-39 hour drive. Silver lake isn't nothing compared to this sand box. -
I need help...please someone (timing)
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to mudkickin4x4's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods

Any opinions on this air filter system?
Screaming Yellow Zonker replied to andrew3160's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I ran the toomey 2 into 1 setup for a little bit. As soon as I changed over to the pods I noticed a big difference. Better throttle response it pulled harder and I got more bugs in my teeth... -
