  1. just sounds like you fried it.
  2. good deal. where did you get the pancake bearing at??? Was that at Magic's too??? Where do you ride at??? I'm just north of waterford about 15 miles.
  3. if it didn't do any damage to the walls I would just hone (glaze break) the cylinders. New wisco pistons, and a new crank. pistons http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=77 crank http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=78 F.A.S.T.
  4. navel jelly. Never dull. mineral spirits. what ever you use you will work your arm until it is ready to fall off. I tried this then just took them to have them blasted and powder coated.
  5. Some friends of mine swear by Flex Bars. http://www.fasstco.com/products/flexx.shtml (ninja edit) Sorry just read your mods... You already list them for coming soon...
  6. I was immediately impressed with my 2 into 1 setup. I tried a set of 33mm carbs and it would not run. But I do believe I had a bad carb. It ran good with the stock carbs but after I put the 36mm and 2 into 1 on that thing woke up. I know it is my opinion but I like it.
  7. Each manufacture has their tolerances. you never know until you get them. Wisco is pretty good when it comes to tolerances.
  8. check all your wiring and connectors. had a friends bike last year that just poped like crazy and it was a loose connector coming from the stator. good luck!
  9. I was taught to use mineral spirits and atf. and when you are done to use dish soap and warm water to clean the cylinders. than apply a thin coat of oil to keep from rusting. WD40 will work too.
  10. There should also be a retainer on there to keep the cap from spinning. A lock i guess you could say.
  11. I would use my air hammer in this case. But chisel and hammer would work fine. You should have used PB Blaster. I swear by that stuff. I have also heard of people using coke because the acid eats the corrosion. Good luck.
  12. You will need a carbide drill bit. The kick start is hardened steel. But I think your problem is the stub that it rides on. the lip wears out and it falls off. You need a new stub...
  13. How does it react when you give it throttle? If it boggs down you could have a fuel flow problem. normally when it gains idle it means it is running leaner. It could be an air leak or running out of fuel in the carb(s)... If it revs right up it could just be that it is warming up and using the fuel better. dont forget to check your plugs. How about the exhaust??? Normal, more or less smoke???
  14. When I did my clutch I noticed the basket was shot. so I bought a new basket and inner hub. I should have replaced the pressure plate but I ran short on cash.
  15. x2 long rod. the geometry is better than the short so longer life out of the engine.
  16. When it just spits and sputters it is it's way of saying I need more fuel...
  17. I live just a few miles from Vito's. I have had no problem with any of his products. I have his piston kit in my bike. and that was from 5 years ago. and it still runs strong. I have also gotten reeds, clutch cables, throttle cables, brake pads, and a slew of other parts. I guess I have been lucky...
  18. While you have the head off I would check the cylinders for any cracks (even though it is highly unlikely) but it just takes another min or two...
  19. stock replacement is SHIFT CAM ASSY part # 2GU-18540-00-00
  20. One of the most common problems of a blown gasket or seal is the vent being plugged. Pull the vent out and make sure it is clear.
  21. Just because yours didnt make power doesnt mean someone elses combo wont. Dyno sheets don't prove individual parts. I went from the 2 26mm carbs what have been gone through dozens of times. I then installed 33mm carbs and it ran like crap. So I decided on the 2 into 1 with a 38mm and it runs like it has never ran before. No matter how much you swear it does or doesn't it is all opinions!!!!
  22. I would try setting the crank so one of the pistons is TDC and check your pickup on the outside of the fly wheel. If the little square lines up with pickup than the key isnt sheared.
  23. make sure the slides are not stuck open at all. If everything is good I would try some carb cleaner shot in the carbs to try and start. Starting fluid isnt that safe for 2 strokes.
  24. Totally not true... I noticed a big difference down low and up high. One of the best decisions I have made. Just wish I would have done it sooner... A lot easier to tune and a lot easier on the thumb when riding those long days.
  25. I use to until I had a carb freeze open and I blew a coolant line from overheating. Now I ride my brothers 400ex and he rides his sled. why break your own stuff when you can break someone elses...
