  1. The only difference I can tell is the smell. It smells like burnt oil (makes sense). Castor 927 smelled great. I just can't justify the price difference on smell alone. I think that's the whole reason some people don't like Yamalube. You can buy it from RockyMountain (www.rockymountain.com) in a 32 oz. bottle. Well, usually you can but it's out of stock right now.
  2. I've never seen 38 foot tires. I bet you can go through anything! Just jestering with ya!
  3. I've got 5.4L and a 4.6L (wife's) F150 Supercrews and I love it. It really depends on what you want it for though. I'd get the 5.4L or maybe even look into the supercharged model if I were you. The 4.6 has plenty of power for driving around, but isn't quite as fun. Now if you're going to be towing bigass trailers, get a F250 diesel. Those things are bad!
  4. You may have to go up 1 or 2 sizes for filter, but not much. I don't think that will help hesitation before the powerband, but I could be wrong. The needle is the biggest factor there.
  5. Maybe I didn't run it long enough. I ran it wide open for a few seconds down a strip. Maybe if I put the plug in and run it a few times back and forth down that strip I'd get a better reading. I just took a flashlight after the plug and the white porcelain is white down to the base. There is very little to no coloring.
  6. I rode it pretty hard for about 10 minutes so it was good and warmed up. Then I slapped the new plug in and did a WOT check. Isn't that how you're supposed to do it? Won't the plug get darkened from other areas of the throttle range if you ride around with it?
  7. Thanks for summing it up there for me Sredish. That rules out an aftermarket head. I'm hitting temps around 210 (coolant) when doing donuts or slow woods riding. I hear you're safe under 200. It sounds like Engine Ice is the best option. Does Engine Ice freeze? I mean, is it safe to leave in during winter?
  8. Checking the plugs after a day of riding just shows overall jetting. You could still be way rich or way lean on the mains. Your needle clip position has the biggest effect through most of the throttle range. I would imagine you'll have to jet up a little for the VForce reeds so I'd say stick with what you have. I might not be much help... I'm still working on my own jetting. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents though.
  9. I'm running the Trinity CV manifold with a 35mm PWK. I've jetted up all the way from 175 to 215. Keihin only makes mains up to 230 so I'm kinda freaked out to be lean on my nearly stock setup. I did a WOT plug check on a new plug and snapped these photos: Here it is next to a new plug to use as a reference. Thanks for the help and patience guys!
  10. When going slow through the woods or running a tight bowl my temps go sky high. What is the best option for cooling and what provides the most "bang for the buck"? Bigger radiator Noss head with increased compression Inline cooler and cooland additive
  11. About how much would a Noss head cool the running temp?
  12. It's harder to hold steady in rough conditions. Bumps can make you blip the throttle. I didn't have much trouble with it on the Warrior but have chose to stick with thumb on the Shee. I guess it's really 6 of one and half-dozen of the other.
  13. I had a twister on my Warrior. It takes a little getting used to but before long it'll be second nature. Even after you get used to it though, accidents will still happen with a twist throttle.
  14. I just got some lights off a '03 model for my '95 Shee. Yamaha has apparently changed the harnesses. What does everyone usually do when you buy aftermarket or different year lights? Is there anywhere I could find the other end of the 3-prong connector?
  15. Do a search on Ebay for "yamaha banshee switch". I see them on there all the time.
  16. It wouldn't be anything wrong with your AIM account. Maybe with the program though. Just reinstall with the latest version. It would also be a good idea to download Spybot and scan your computer.
  17. I was about to bring up the helmet thing, but that's a little different. Say you're going down the interstate and a bird comes flying out of nowhere and lands his beak right in your eye... you're going to wreck... and possibly cause whoever is behind you to wreck as well. Imagine you're riding a bike right behind the guy. It's a hazard to those around you when you don't wear a helmet (on a motorcycle, ATVs are different).
  18. Amen to that. Wearing your seatbelt protects you and you alone. If you aren't safe, it's your problem. It all comes down to the mighty $. Might as well make breathing illegal. The government could rack up on the dough.
  19. You have to be a member now to read the threads? Oh well.
  20. If your PC specs are around 400MHz or better with at LEAST 128MB RAM, upgrade to Win2k. That'll save you many headaches. Win98 blows. I suppose your error could be due to spyware or even a virus but I doubt it. 98 just doesn't like it when stuff gets added or changed.
  21. A friend of mine has a 300ex and he won't clean the damn filter. I even offer to clean it for him but he won't let me.
  22. It's a good thing I don't ride with dogs then. Yamalube works just fine for me.
  23. The ProFlow filter has 2 stages. Do ya'll recommend spraying both layers?
  24. Oh yeah... no wonder I haven't been reaching my full RPM. I'm only running one set of pipes! Too bad the auction is over. I actually saw something in JC Whitney which was a exhaust Y-adapter that had a cable coming from it. You could pull or push the cable to change the path of the exhaust. I thought of getting one for my old truck, having one way go through the muffler and the other straight out. It would have been sweet to pull up beside someone, pull the cable, blast straight-pipe in their ears. Would have been even sweeter to have it flaming but that's just too much trouble.
  25. I'm still lugging around the ebrake system on the back caliper myself. Here's the blockoff I plan to get though:
