  1. About how much does it raise temps? I'm thinking about shaving my head to bring it up to about 150psi.
  2. Basically look at carb and jet sizes. Your jets and needle limit the amount of fuel being sucked into the motor. Anything that makes you jet up is going to consequently (sp?) burn more fuel.
  3. Does holding the throttle open after killing the motor and pulling the clutch make a big difference? It just occured to me that I've been letting off the throttle after killing it.
  4. That sounds about right to me. If you know it's real lean I would go up a couple sizes at a time though. I've read in some guides to jet up until it bogs, than back down a size and that sounds good. Most people will tell you the only way to know for sure is to check the plugs (can't help you with that, I know I'm rich and still can't read anything on the plugs). As for the filter, as long as you're doing your runs on road or something without dust that should be fine, but keep in mind that once you put that filter back on you'll probably have to go down another size on the mains.
  5. I haven't checked it. I guess I need to bite the bullet and buy a tester. I'm scared to test it though.
  6. 1. No 2. Are they aluminum? Pick up some Mothers aluminum polish.
  7. What is that on the fuel cap vent hose? Where can I pick one up?
  8. I've got the needle in the 4th clip. I've tried it in 3rd, 4th, and 5th with no difference at WOT. I've went from 175 to 205 in increments and it seems to get worse or stay the same with every increase. It feels like it's too rich, but that's not what the plugs say. I'm real tempted to throw in a 168 or 170 and see what happens, but I'm scared of burning up the motor. My water temp seems to only go up to about 140 now for some reason too. To me all factors point to it being rich, but the plugs come out pretty clean after a WOT run. I'm probably going to wait till Saturday before I try anything else. I think my neighbors are getting pissed at me for riding up and down the road. The group I ride with may be able to help me out Saturday. At any rate, I'll be back with an update. Thanks for the help!
  9. It doesn't feel real close. The topend is getting flatter every main size I go up. And I just don't understand why I would need to jet so high. Keihin only makes mains up to 230. Maybe I'm having trouble because it's the 35 and not the 33?
  10. My bad, Hammond is on the other side of the state. Monroe is only about 2 hours from here though.
  11. Good idea. I threw a 205 main in today and took it for a run. That's 4 sizes higher than the last jet I tried and the topend still seemed to be the same. It's like the RPMs just stop at a certain point and refuse to go higher. Here's a pic of a plug after the run. I rode it pretty hard for a few minutes and brought it home and took the plug out.
  12. Depends on the terrain. I love my 20" tires and will probably stick with that size. I agree with Bigboy if you go over a lot of rocks and such, but you may just be better off getting a good skidplate. After all, there's only 1" of clearance difference between 20" and 22" tires.
  13. My wife's family live around Hammond. I'm not sure how far that is from Monroe, but it'd be easy for me to ride down there.
  14. Does the needle make much difference? The folks at Trinity suggested a DEL needle and mine came with a DGK. Think that makes much of a difference? I'm thinking the diameter might have an effect on my off-idle hesitation.
  15. Want Subway for life? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4165667928&rd=1
  16. I still haven't gotten the jetting in just right so I can't really tell you for sure if it's too fat or not, that's just what Trinity said. I can tell you the midrange kicks in hard and strong though. I'm just having a hard time with the pilot and main.
  17. Is that after one 5-10 second WOT run? Did you warm the bike up with old plugs, then toss in that one strictly for the WOT check, then take it out?
  18. Does your bike flatten out on top or does it pull strong at full throttle? Your mods look about the same as mine with the exception of the compression. I would think I should have about the same jetting, but it pulls stronger with 175 main than it does with the 195.
  19. I would use black duct tape, but I'm a cheap mofo too. It really depends on how you want it to look. It won't make any difference performance wise.
  20. Can you see that without chopping the plug? A guy at a local shop told me to use a magnifying glass and flashlight.
  21. I know the procedure for a WOT plug check, but have no idea what I'm supposed to be looking at on the plug. Can anyone enlighten me and possibly post a pic? I'd be very grateful!
  22. What jets are everyone running in their 35mm single carb setup? I would post mine, but I know I'm nowhere near right.
  23. If you like riding in the mud I'd say fill em in. There's no sense sacrificing rideability for power. You could always drill holes in the underside of the airbox vent.
  24. I have to pull the whole cover off? Is that real tricky? I guess I have to drain the oil and coolant first?
  25. If it has 70R in the series of numbers on the carb, it's a 35mm. Otherwise, it's probably the 33. I'm trying to get this 35 jetted right, so I may not be looking for a trade afterall.
