Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?
Strm Trpr replied to esseclipse's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Motor is stock 87 .020 over. RB Designs bored OE Carbs No TORS w/idle screws Toomey Needles 4th groove 280 Mains 25 Pilots Pods w/Outerwears VF3's I got for Christmas Chariot Billet Intakes, no cross-over HJR re-cut and rechambered head HJR clean-up port? HJR trued and welded stock crank T5's What jets are a good starting point with the above set-up at sea level? 350 mains 27 pilots Toomey Needles, 4th groove? I have a set of 35mm PWK A/S I scored for a song I could run, I'd imagine I'd loose a ton of bottom-end on a stock port motor. -

Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?
Strm Trpr replied to esseclipse's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What do you mean, "Modified Wiseco Pistons"? Correct me if I'm wrong, aren't Vito's Superstock Forged Pistons made by Wiseco to Vito's spec's? The exhaust side of the pistons are cut in a way to mimic "ported" exhaust port duration and this increases power by up to 8hp. Hope you don't but, but I have some questions for you: Were the Superstocks you used, Forged or Cast? Were the cylinders freshly bored and honed? Was your tune spot on? Was a leak down test performed after assembly? -
Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?

Sorry "themechanic" you're full of shit. Blaster's OE bores are 66mm. The pistons are forged and made by Wiseco to Vito's specs. -
trex banshee is an outstanding seller. He promptly replied to all PM's, provided additional pictures of the product and the product is in unbelieveably excellent condition. trex banshee is very honest, packaged the product very well and shipped the product same day he received payment. Do not hesitate to buy anything from Thomas, aka trex banshee. Thanks again Thomas, for an unrefuseable deal!

Thanks for the tips sheerider11. How you like that HJR Hardcore MX Port? I'm torn between that a HJR Dune Port.

I plan on having the crankshaft trued and welded. I checked that bottom-end walk through out and after reading through that, I believe I'm more than capable of tearing down and reassembling a Banshee motor. I did a complete tear down of the frame resto to my 87 back in 95 and she still runs very strong for stock motor with over 60hrs on the clock. When she's cold she's pretty loose and while you're kicking it, you're wondering if she'll ever start, but she always does. When she's hot she'll fire on the first kick almost 99% of the time. My 87 has a fresh pancake bearing, new FAST modded shift shaft, eccentric stud and lock washer and brand new FAST clutch. All this has maybe 4hrs worth of ride time on it. Hence the 87 is a prime candidate for a rebuild/motor swap.

how do i fix this, never seen one break like this

PB Blaster is your friend. Next time use anti-seize or grease. -
Why is your 02 red sticker? My 02 is green sticker. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/ohvredgreen.htm BTW, drifting is hella fresh yo...

Cool, thanks for looking out. The flywheel puller I have threads into the flywheel and then the center threads in and pushes the flywheel off the crankshaft, so maybe I bought it for my Banshee.

Sweet, so the only thing I need to do is install the built 87 motor with the 02 Stator and rock and roll? Should I have the cases port matched? Are there any Piston Mods I should have done? Should I have any transmission work done, if so what should I have done? Any bearings I should replace?
-
I have both air tools and a fly wheel puller that I bought back in 92 when I had problems with my LT250R's Stator, man what a POS that bike was. So riddle me this, what's the difference between an 02 motor and an 87 motor?

I agree with you guys too. How hard is it to tear down and reassemble a Banshee motor? Is it something I can do in my garage with ordinary tools? There aren't any special assembly tricks or anything like that is there? Should I box the whole thing up and send it off to a site sponsor?

Just curious as to why you are running 340 mains at sea level with T5's and stock cylinders? I notch lean from middle means the clip is on the second groove from the top right? Do you have Reeds? Do you have head mods? Do you have the timing advanced? Is it because of the pods gave it more air? I have a completely stock motor w/T5's, Toomey's Needles with the clip one groove down from the middle, Toomey's 1 into 2 Air Intake w/Uni Filter and an Outer Wear, (no air box) and I run 280 mains and 25 pilots at sea level, and I feel it to be a little rich, or maybe it's lean I don't know haven't really rode it yet. Plan to do maintenance this weekend. Wow, that totally looks like I didn't read the entire thread. Sorry about that. I opened a bunch of new tabs hours ago and finally got around to reading them. Hope you don't mind.

Having cylinders with 65.50mm holes means the cylinders are "Bored" .060" over, not "Ported". A "Ported" motor has both the intake and exhaust ports of the cylinders "Ported" to change the "Port Timings" and enhance the motor's power and delivery. Now, is your motor Ported or just Bored? Stock Cylinders, (No Porting), Stock Reed Cages, FMF Pipes, no Timing Advance, (via adjustable timing plate) and no Head Mods will lose bottom-end power and seem sluggish until the higher rpms with bigger carbs. Stock carbs are good to 65 to 70whp. Do yourself a favor and rebuild your carbs and save yourself some scratch. If you don't want to rebuild your carbs yourself, send your carbs to PJ Motorsports. They're a Site Sponsor and they will rebuild your carbs good as new for you. Check it out. ---> http://www.pjmotorsports.com/index.html Carb Rebuilding page. ---> http://www.pjmotorsports.com/special-outside-services.html

Gas dripping out of overflow hose?
Strm Trpr replied to 06bluebanshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
No Link? My carbs are leaking too. I was told to use a q-tip and toothpaste to polish the float needle seat. -
Hey Guys, I have a 2002 Banshee w/Toomey T5's. I have acquired a few mods over the last year or so and I'd like to install them for this years duning season. I'd like to add these mods: Head Modified <--- The squish band is re-cut and the head is milled to slightly increase compression. V-Force 3 Reed Cages <--- Received as a Christmas gift. Stock Carbs TORS Eliminated, Toomey Needles on 4th groove from top, 280 main jets and #25 pilots. K&N Filters w/Outer Wears Chariot Performance Billet Intakes w/out built-in cross-over <--- I have a Carb Sync Tool, so I should be good to run w/out the cross-over right? Adjustable Timing Plate <--- Can I advance timing +4*? Will the stock non-welded crankshaft hold up to these mods? I do have access to Union 76's 100 octane racing gasoline. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance,

4mil stock cyl. Drag ported Havoc/RDZ
Strm Trpr replied to 87sheerips's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
It is for the motor only! Bump for a great guy! -
HOLY SHIT! $2500 Shipped for that Red and White Banshee? I paid $2400 for my pristine bone tock 2002 w/Toomey T5's. This Red and White Beast is on Alcohol, so if that powerband is too gnarly for you, I'm sure you can sell those jugs and put on some stockers that are Ported to your liking for a much broader power band and easily make 70-80whp with that 4mm Stroker on pump gas.

4mil stock cyl. Drag ported Havoc/RDZ
Strm Trpr replied to 87sheerips's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
At first I thought you were selling just the motor. You still have this beast for sale? You are talking about the Red and White Banshee in the pics correct? -
I'll take the Pingle Valve. PM Sent

Banshee crankshafts are pressed together from the factory and rely on interference fits between the connecting rod pins and the counter weights to hold it together. With the extra power your motor will be putting out from the porting, the increased compression from the head being milled and the timing advance, your crankshaft can potentially come apart. Send your crankshaft to whoever is doing your porting so they can true and weld it for you. You may just want to box up your entire motor and have them build it for you. That's what I plan to do.
