  1. There are two styles of lock up. They both use the centrifical force of the clutch's rpm's to apply pressure to the clutch with weight. The first and most common is the arm style. It goes right on to your stock outer clutch plate. There are fingers on it that you adjust the weight of by adding or subtracting nuts, bolts, and washers. As the rpm's go up the fingers swing out and apply the weight and force to the clutch. you will need a special cover or highly modified stock cover to run this one. http://directdrivebillet.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/lockoutfrayed.jpg The other style is called a sling shot. It replaces the clutch pressure plate with a machines unit that has ramps or grooves in it to set ball bearings in. Then you put a cover plate on it to hold the balls in place. As the rpm's climb the balls sling shot outward in the grooves and apply pressure. Thi benefit to the sling shot is that it is fairly easy to set it and forget it. They also fit under the stock cover. In the end it is cheaper the. The finger style. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll251/mia-shee/slingshot002.jpg My personal set up:
  2. Pods out perform on built motors. No question about it. The only decision for me is foam for super dusty shit or more free flowing gauze. Although there is a need to be smart about the wet stuff you do ride in. I have hydro locked a motor at a race a couple seasons ago when the track was flooding due to a truck going through the ice the night before. First lap the motor spit and sputtered. Second lap I was in 2nd place and setting up first and I hit that puddle (8" or so) and the motor just made that frightening BWAAAOOOOOooog noise. Pulled the head off and the entire case and both cylinders were full of water. The crankshaft rods were shaped like the letter Z. So now of its wet, my bike stays loaded. I have been playing with a big diesel filter and the end of the factory air box. I kind of like it. I just bent a U shaped pan under the bottom of it. Kinda nice.
  3. Clutch: Ultimately a Magura hydraulic clutch with the braided line would be the best bet. The Streamline kit is nice but I've seen a few of them need the master rebuilt. Otherwise you can do a premium Lever like ASV or Wertz. Add a fresh lubed cable and don't over spring the clutch. Steer clear of the Magnum EZ pull. They aren't worth their weight in dog dookie. You could get over kill and use the ability of a lockup to make that thing like a Honda 450 dirt bike. Yeah it's over kill since the bike doesn't make much power but using super light springs and an ASV while depending on the lock up to do the work makes the lever so soft. Shocks: Find her used ones. Make sure they aren't for +2 arms though. They pop up on eBay and the for sale section a lot. Maybe have Matt at So Cal rebuild the rear. Best of luck to you and your wife
  4. Go get a straight line laser. Not a laser pointer. An actual contractor laser. All kinds of different ones at lowes or depot. Hell even the stud finders with a laser would be fine. Just get it set on something split and shoot the beam over the tips of the rear sprocket teeth. The beam should line right up to the tips of the motor sprocket teeth. That's how I used to do anything from dirtbikes to road bikes that had separate left and right side adjustments.
  5. Been there... Some how lost the castle nut that held my lower a arm in the spindle. And I know it had a cotter pin.
  6. Coming up! Drag or TT/oval events
  7. I'm sorry, but I just fucking laugh every time I see black guys rocking nazi replica motorcycle helmets!
  8. Sacrificial research isn't for every one. But I endorse it. If your kid says "I wanna play football dad." Are you gonna tell him he's not gonna be as good as the guys in the NFL? NO, you go sign his ass up for Peewee league and hope he can at least go to college on his skill.
  9. Definitely a beginner. They look OK though. Intake is just cleaned and knifed. Little exhaust work to. There is nothing wrong with them from the photos you had posted. There is definitely enough material to rework them and get more out of 'em if you want to.
  10. Problem with both of those is the aluminum peg. They are welded in and need to be constantly sharpened. The first set does look nice though.
  11. Might rent a penske truck to hit this up.
  12. Hate to say it with out being able to come Prove it, but there are plenty banshees that could swallow that thing. They used to make Baja it's bitch.
  13. I may just get the new one and tig a plate in. I like the nets more, but I need the protection from studs. I'm thinking of even going -2 3/4" on my swinger next year
  14. Just funny how every one has changed their tune even though there were some validations of their original claim.
  15. About to be in that same position. Like the way the rockets come on, but I can really feel when they fall off and on the big tracks I need some over rev.
  16. The work on those is actually pretty good. The guy didn't get crazy on removing material so they can definitely be reworked if some one wanted more out of 'em. From the photo, you can tell he spent the time where it counts. Really did a full work over on the transfers.
  17. Desert riding is where some banshees have really shined! Send out one of the Leager protrax, Lone star outlaw, Sundahl, or the twister LT bikes. Many desert riders have moved on the 4 strokes so all the tall seated desert banshees have been parted out long ago. I bet there is someone with a desert bike that could run with it though. This desert race, does the challenger get to pre run the course? In all honesty, any one who is a pro level rider and races the desert of of their back yard will definitely decimate the average banshee. But on the hills, dunes, gravel pits, drag races, and flat track TT races, good luck. Props to your buddy if he is really as good as he says. A lot of my buddies out west are fucking desert rats. Riding the natural terrain has made them friggin stellar riders!
  18. True cam. I guess wolves gotta eat to.....
  19. 14-42,43 or even 13-42,43
  20. Hey finch, is Wildcard making their own intake?
  21. Ha! Ha! WTF?! It also kills atomization and velocity.
