  1. I won't even bother asking for names. But I have dealt with a set of these on a KTM 300SX and I personally saw an improvement over the VF3's. So for people to assume or just live in the shadows of hearsay is just a bit Un settling for me. I know if they made a difference on one cylinder then it can definitely benefit two. I must of hole shoted that KTM 20/30 times to come up with a reference and I know for a fact that after I swapped the reed set up in that bike there was a huge improvement. The pilot was way lean and I called Eric Gorr about it and he said that it needed a size up and maybe a click on the needle. But the main would stay about the same if there was already good reeds on the previous set up. This was all before they even decided to do banshee stuff with the 4's. It was on my boss' bike at the transmission shop I worked at.
  2. I have gone to the drags and seen guys warm up big motors for about 10 minutes
  3. You say that like we have an abundance of Christians around here?
  4. Why? A fresh one on eBay is about what any welder would charge. Even then, once a cast piece is broke it'll never be as strong.
  5. Low compression means blow by is occurring. AKA, the combustion is sneaking by the worn ring/cylinder seal....
  6. 10 ball Max loads are $35 from TDR! Best deal I've found.
  7. Piston domes huh? Ya' mean crown? If a motor is tuned right deposits shouldn't be a concern. It will be long over due for a rebuild before carbon deposits hinder performance.
  8. Never in my life heard about him skimming. I just googled it and to be honest the only few references I can find are from conspiracy nuts. Nothing reliable and since there aren't any lawsuits or charges on that one I'm gonna have to call hogshit on it. What he did was wrong in the eyes of the rules. But it's nothing that any of the other top dogs weren't doing. I'm not saying I condone what he did but regardless of him doing roids he has don't a lot for a lot of folks who needed it. This is just like all the big wigs at Kellogg's and Subway bitching about Michael Phelps smoking a joint after winning the Olympics. He trained his ass off won, and was ready to chill out but the media made him out to be some junkie asshole.
  9. I fucking know John! It is always my hometown race!
  10. First heat cycle I just like to get it warm enough to feel the head and cyls start getting warm. Check everything and torque accordingly Second, start it get it warm. Blip the throttle till motor is making the pipes hot and you can barely touch the head. Third, start it. Blip till its warm. Rev it out a few times. Fourth give her hell! Ride it hard through all 6. Coast a bit and try to feel or listen for issues. Check torque, Assess jetting needs then ride it like ya stole it! I to find that if it's buil right a baby session isn't nessacary. Look at all the drag bikes out there. Hose guys don't have the option of running a tank of fuel through their bikes and they do just fine. And Steve, if your bike over heats from a 10 minute heat cycle you have issues. There are a lot of builders who reccomend 10 minute cycles. Especially in 4 strokes.
  11. This quote makes me wish there was a smiley that could jerk off a huge black schlong super fast! All kidding aside, do you even own the 4's? That's a little bit of a presumptuous and lofty claim.
  12. I have had a stock cylinder big bore sleeve banshee that was 440cc's on keihin PJ's...... I know temperamental. I GE your point that 4 strokes aren't supposed to need a tweak every time you decide to touch it. But that is how any bike gets once you start messing with air & fuel.
  13. Well, before you wind up in court when some sober girl realizes what her inner drunk slut did........ There are two easy ways to have threesomes. A: Just date an uninhibited Bi-curious/Bi-sexual girl that has friends who are also "free spirited". Only catch is, you need to be ok with them fucking around and project high energy. Not like a crack head but you need to not be a homebody Debbie downer. Kinda helps if you act like it doesn't matter if there is a future or not. Keeps them coming back. Don't try to get serious with them till later in life or they will leave you in the dust. B: Get lucky, meet and date a girl that is loyal but has the occasional craving for pussy. They usually start off just freaky and watching lesbian porn and talking about it. If your good you can coax them. Internet dating, swinger forums or even set up a dirty evening with an escort. Hell, if your just a dirt ball. Just search your local backpage.com. All kinds of duo escorts!
  14. As did every other top rider. Only America's roided out rider beat the other countries roided rider. It's nothing new to any sport. Yeah, what he did was "illegal", but he has also raised more for cancer research then almost any one and regardless of what went down I can respect what he did. Not to mention he did it after several of the worlds top physicians said he would never fully recover after his health problems. On another note. The USPS isnt soley a federal entity. Look it up
  15. Uhh, yeah! Same with any bike. Any time you start messing with airflow, fuel needs must also be met. No sensitivity at all.
  16. 27.5/30.0 pilot 2nd clip from bottom on needle 310/330 main
  17. If they are built by someone competent, and for your specific motor. Yes. But to just buy any hand coned pipe means nothing
  18. Any one remember the remake of gone in sixty seconds where Nicholas Cage refered to the GT500 as his Unicorn named Elenor? It was the one car that no matter how many times he tried to take one and no matter what he did different it was always a catastrophe. This weekend confirms my fucking Elenor is my biggest hometown race on White Lake in Michigan. Every year I get the bike totally sorted out and running A1. Then about a week or so before the race something always happens to the motor and I wind up in a constant week long mad dash and paying out my ass to get things shipped out ASAP. Only to have the wrong parts arrive, or not have them at all. So I wind up the night before the race putting it together till 5/6 in the morning if I'm lucky, one catastrophe after another. Then if I do get it to the race, I always end up with a part malfunction or even one year I hit some sketchy water and hydro locked the motor. Not to mention that was on a borrowed top end. And in the main. This year I had some cheap WICKED dome o rings melt, and cause steam in the motor and ended up cracking a dome where they machine the outside for cooling fins. So the night of assembly, my new o rings arrive. I get the original domes and head I had for the motor, only to snap a head stud at only 14 lbs on the torque wrench. I fix it and put the other head on. Then assemble the rest of the motor. Only to have it not fire. I ohm the stator, it's good, swap the coil, pressure test it, compression test it, swap plugs, clean the grounds, test the tether, check my switch, still NO FIRE! It has fuel/air, spark, compression, and the god damn thing just won't start. I kicked it the morning of the race till my boot had a hole in it and my foot is bruised, it only sputters once every 40/50 kicks. Finally I gave up. Just went and watched way slower quads compete for money I know I could of won. I had at least three guys walk up and tell me how glad they were that my bike wasn't there. The day after the race i go to play with it, it fired third kick. Ain't that a bitch! Any one else have that one trip/race that just never goes right?
  19. Uhh, you do realize that they are taking lance Armstrong to court for every dollar they have given him?
  20. Big bore pipes need big CC's to work properly. I hate when you see people test big bore pipes on a stock cyl motor or small cub and then swap to a small bore pipe and say how much better it is. The big bore pipes have a place and purpose. Although there are motors out there that might throw a better number on the dyno and then in the real world suffer massive heat soak issues. So a big bore pipe or flange is sometimes a nice solution. IE, the guys with cheetahs in the dunes tend to favor the big bore pipes due to their ability to move the heat.
  21. Depends who builds them, and of they've Been built for the motor you run them on.
  22. Do not ceramic coat the Shearers! I was about to nitro plate a set and called Mat about a raw set and had a short discussion about why I wanted them raw. He promptly explained that they should either be painted, chromed or raw. He mentioned a customer tried a set with jet hot coating and it was down 11 HP or so..... Some pipes it works, but Mat Shearer already has his pipe set up to move the heat the way it should. DO NOT CERAMIC COAT THEM.
  23. Not to get to far off topic, but now that you're in the raptor scene. Will there be a big thumper climber in your future?
  24. +4 on good premium fuel is fine. Probably one of the best bangs for the buck for any bike, including your trail bike. It will help wih response and a little more torque.
  25. Powder coating is the best, if not any paint with a high elastomer content
