  1. ROFL! I had over 2 years on my last top end in my 4mil duner. Ran methanol year round on it. Countless hours and weekends in the dunes riding all day.
  2. What kind of carbs do you have? Keihin, Mikuni, Lectron, etc... What is your current main jet size, current dump tube size, needle size, pilot jet size... We need more information to be able to help you get it set up right. I NEVER trust anyone else's jetting or setup. I will always start over and re-jet the bike myself. Just because the guy told you it was set up to run alky doesn't mean he knew what he was doing or had the setup right. Tell us: Elevation Average Temp where you ride Main jet size Dump Tube Size Needle size Pilot size how many turns out on the power jet are you? compression timing advance pickup coil gap plug type plug gap Do you have all the other supporting mods to run alky? Gas cap modded, pingle, billet bowls, etc...
  3. You need to compare a Big Block Twister with a 78mm bore to the DM cylinder with a 78mm bore. Between those two, I would pick the Twister. I'm not a fan of CP industries, and have had both the big block twister and the small block twister. They are awesome. But comparing a DM to a small block is like comparing a cheetah to stock cylinders. You need to get both cylinder blocks in the same size to make it a good comparison. If you are going to use the 75mm bore small-block then go with a cheetah for comparison. Given the comparison you brought up, I would have to say the DM would be the winner. Change the small-block to a big block with a 78mm bore and I would say its probably going to be a toss-up due to rider ability and bike setup.
  4. Kevin is the man when it comes to porting. I love the power this little stock stroke makes with his handy work. Now that I have the top end broke in, its time to throw some meth at it and slap the shearers on & see what this thing can do. For a little stock stroke its a blast to ride.
  5. Send your cylinders off to Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing. He will hook you up with a port job and any of the bolt-on parts you need. Great guy to deal with and he does some top-notch work.
  6. I know a LOT of machinists that would be happy to do this sort of thing for you for a few beers or some pizza after work. A bridgeport with a good carbide end-mill & a rotary table can do this whole job in about 15-20min.
  7. Check out my sig, there's a link to a complete bottom end rebuild with pics. That might help you out.
  8. If kevin did the work, give him a call and he can answer your questions for you... If he did the work, he will have a record of the cylinders and can hook you up with what will and won't work. - Jared
  9. KEVIN @ HERR JUGS RACING! I wouldn't take my stuff anywhere else! Great guy to deal with and he won't steer you wrong or try and sell you any bullshit stuff that doesn't do anything or you don't need like some of the other builders will.
  10. I like to bore mine by hand with 60-grit sand-paper. - Jared
  11. The basics for any banshee are... timing advance cool head reeds carbs porting suspension The biggest bang for your buck flat out is going to be the porting. If you do woods riding, give kevin herr a call and get his woods port. You would love the power difference. It will be a little more expensive, but the biggest power difference, and would change your power-band to suite your riding style. Kevin can also hook you up with any of the other bolt-ons you would need to make it a complete package. The timing plate and cool head will give you a good low-end boost and wouldn't cost as much as the porting. - Jared
  12. I read somewhere online that the holes help smooth out power delivery and make for a better power curve.
  13. Bump for ya. That's just crazyness to me to drop that kinda coin on a box to hold tools. Must be nice...
  14. The reliefs in the top case in front and behind where the cylinder sits down in the cases are actually heat relief zones. We fill them with epoxy on the twister setups because the case porting on a twister cylinder eats into them. You definitely don't want to cut your spacer plate to match the holes.
  15. Send your cylinders off to Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing and he can take care of you. Bore/hone/new top end/porting if you want it. He can also help you out with the crank and any bearings you will need. Give him a call, his number is in my signature. - Jared
  16. Bump for a nice set of gears
  17. Did you run these on your small-block? How did the twister like those paddles? Too much, not enough, perfect? I have a 4mil small-block I'm building this summer and haven't decided what tires to run with it yet.
  18. I've got a full-lenght under-frame skid plate with all the mounting brackets. $60 shipped. PM me if you're interested.
  19. bad bearing on the accuator holding the clutch arm a little bit? clutch pushrod, ball, adjustment all greased up? clutch basket grooved? Inner hub grooved?
  20. Are you 100% sure you have ALL the bolts and nuts removed that hold the cases together? You got the little half-moon on the clutch side? All the bolts along the back of the cases by the case vent? Have you tried smacking the studs from the bottom of the engine up by the crank? Sometimes if you smack the studs it will get the cases to pop loose. If you are going to try and pry or get a wedge into the cases, do it on the clutch side back by the clutch. Its the same fluid in the trans as in the clutch area, so having your cases jacked up in that area won't let fluid in anywhere it isn't already. Every time I've had cases that I couldn't get split I was missing a bolt or a nut somewhere. Once I found the one I missed and removed it, the cases come apart easy easy.
  21. Crankenstein. The chop off the front of the cases and weld on a set of ski-doo rotax cylinders. The 670 is the most common and easiest to do. They vibrate like a motherfucker and I haven't seen a single one yet that didn't leak all over the place and make a giant mess. For the money and time invested you could easily build a big block twister and make more power and look a lot less ghetto-rigged.
  22. Drugs are bad mmmkay?
  23. I only run 927. Good stuff. I run it in all my bikes. Methanol and gas.
  24. Mine isn't going to be "done correctly" Mine would be more of the ghetto-rigged crap route. hahahaha
