  1. I got that front sprocket and put it on yesterday. It's actually a 16 tooth. (which is better for me) I took it out on an old road here and wound it out and it scared the hell outta me I didn't get it wide open because it started to shake a bit. I have no idea how fast I was going but it works good. I really like first gear now and I like it when I wheelie because I have more time before it's time to shift. I can't believe I left that 13 tooth on for this long. It's like a whole new bike!
  2. Who told you that you couldn't get any larger pistons? The stealership? If it was I'd stop going to them and find someone who knows what they're talking about. Go with some wiseco's and get the kit it comes with a complete top end kit. Get it ported while you have those cylinders off too
  3. Stick to the 4-poke. Tell your dad to f*ck the hell off and put a cam mod in it, pipe it and jet it and you'll probably be happier without the headache of getting that banshee going. It looks like a good parts bike, but not something I'd dump money in.
  4. I was running a 13 tooth on the front and a 41 on the back making my gearing low. And I tried to get the front end down really quick because I was heading into the ditch fast. ha ha. If you don't believe my bike will pull in fifth come down here and I'll show you.
  5. Hey well I can put something in the rides of shame now... Anyways last night I decided to go for a drive anyways, and me and my friends were driving down a dirt road. So I pull a wheelie in fifth gear and everything is going good , then I give it to much of a shot of gas and the tires spun when I was still pulling the wheelie. So Instead of going straight, the bike pitched to the side and faced the ditch and it was all I could do to bring the front end down quick before I hit the ditch. So I got the front end down right on the shoulder bit it was to far and the bike went into the ditch. I said f*ck it I spent all this money and time on the bike I'm not bailing off I held on for about 150 feet till I got slowed down enough to drive out of the ditch. Right before I drove out there was a tree laying across the ditch, another 5 feet I would have hit it. The ditch was pretty deep and full of plants I couldnt see where I was going and I never hit anything. Talk about lucky!
  6. is the ninja 250 a 2 stroke?
  7. I don't like the new 450r, and I don't like alot of the newer quads. I don't like the new blaster, I think the old plastic looked better. I would have to say though the ugliest bike is a polaris 500 4x4 scrambler. I hate the way the seat sits I mean look at that it's liek the rear end got squished or the rear shock fell apart.
  8. thats a quick way to get through traffic...but its still stupid i mean look at the goddamn traffic but then again im from the country. your car has to handle good at those speeds, and that was a good pair of drivers..but still
  9. I think you have to split the motor to fix it you have to get that ball bearing unsiezed. I think you need a new push rod assembly and plunger arm.
  10. I don't really care what anyone says, when you are riding a piped shee down through the woods at 2am in the morning with a dozen beer into you, you really want to be wearing a helmet. I have had alot of accidents (almost all non-alcohol related) and everytime I always hit my head some way or another. Motorcycles, dirtbikes, 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, my helmet has honestly saved my life. I have a friend that hit a tree and cracked his helmet right in two. It's common sense, just put the goodamn thing on, and don't expect me to feel sorry for you when you kill yourself and you're not wearing a helmet. You won't see me shed any tears. People should know better.
  11. whats the matter, not fast enough for you now?
  12. hey thanks, im surprised to see so many with the same bday as me. might go pull a "birthday wheelie" when I get home I can't believe i made it to see 21
  13. yeah its my birthday today but the thought of a xmas present like that makes me ill!!!!! mom and dad dont do that sort of thing
  14. Hey, glad to see you made it, you're lucky to be close to a hospital! Hope you heal quickly and you're riding soon.
  15. Check your choke or something. If my bike is warmed up and I put the choke on, it will do the same thing as youre describing. Is there alot of smoke coming out of the pipes? is your bike warmed up? What do you mean by removing the spark arrestors btw? pull the plugs and look at them if theyre wet and black it means theyre getting too much fuel. you're rich. anyways let us know, someone can help you out. oh and some advice on the new shee - buy a clymer manual. itll help alot!! trust me.
  16. the only time I ever seen a shock fall apart was when my friend was wheelieing his brand new honda 350 4x4 last year and somehow the shock just came apart (the top piece and the bottom piece seperated) in midair and when he landed it never went back into place and the shock folded. it was replaced under warranty. good luck with yours
  17. We can get 6, 8 and 12 packs of beer here (cans) but the only ones that are ever cold are the 6 and 8 packs so I always get an 8 pack. I haven't gotten that sprocket yet because he hasn't been home (he's away working) but when I put it on I will let you know the difference. I just dont like how my gears are short now after my port job, I hardly ever use first and when me and the buddies are flying down the fire roads (or paved roads for that matter) I want something that will give a better cruising gear. I think the bike was set up for drag racing when I got it, and I never bothered to change the gearing because I wasn't used ot the bike anyways. Only problem is getting my chain to fit now (and I just put a new one on) time to add a link or 2...
  18. Sorry not to confuse you, I wasn't saying just boring out will give you alot more power (compared to a good stock bore), but if you are running stock pistons and by the looks of it you are, you should do a compression test first then see. If you are running low, get rid of those old stock pistons and get some high compression aftermarket ones, you'll notice it's snappier. There's nothing wrong with starting with a fresh bore, but don't waste a bore job either, you only have so many.
  19. shit dude i never saw that I should have bothered to actually read your post. sorry!
  20. No, I am going to give it a try though. Nothing use seems to work very good, I tried some gunk degreaser and it didn't do anything at all. I heard Mr.Clean works good. I have been using WD-40 to clean my engine I just spray it on and wipe it off.
  21. I think the ds650 is waayyy too big for me, and its not that comfortable. It's a tank! I don't know about the v-force but i sat on one at a kawi stealership and I liked it, and the 400 EX is way too stiff especially in the front end. I don't know why people have bad things to say about the suspension on the banshees, I would rather drive my shee than my dad's 300 kind quad with independant suspension. I love the seat on the shee.
  22. Hey, I just got my bike put back together and it pulls like a raped ape. Anyways I was running a 13 front/41 rear and my gearing is waay too low now. I was going to get a 15 tooth front sprocket at the local stealership, but a friend of mine who has owned a few banshees has a 17 tooth front sprocket. He had to special order it it's off a rd350 or an rz350 and he said he loved it on the banshee he had(he doesnt have it anymore). It's in good shape. He wants an 8-pack of beer for it, am I wasting my time going with that high of gearing? I think my bike has the balls to pull it and I do alot of road driving so I think I would benefit from the taller gearing. Does anyone here run a 17 front and a 41 rear? Thanks
  23. tell your sister to get a CR80 and then I can help with motor questions.
  24. I can't really say anything about the timing advance because I haven't done it yet. I went from a piped completely stock motor with a modified airbox and reed spacers with a jet kit to a ported, planed head and bored out wiseco machine and I have to say there is a huge difference. I say it increased my powerband by about half as much, before I was shifting quick because the powerband would just kick in and then there would be nothing left. Now it pulls even without the powerband kicking in, and when it does it lasts so much longer I can tell a big difference when I wheelie the bike. You need to start getting more compression, you're better off spending the extra money and getting a cool head, because first of all you don't need a head gasket anymore because it's an O-ring head, second you can change domes so if one fucks up or you want more compression just slap different domes in. Timing advance is cheap, and I think someone on this board lightens flywheels too which helps. You can always just plane your stock head, it's cheaper. I am running 140 lbs of compression off a new top end with the head planed, and I was running 100 before. If I were you I would: Bore it 20 thousandths over and put wiseco pro-lites in (or vitos) start with fresh jugs Shave the head 30 thousandths of an inch (or get a cool head) have a good dune port done timing advance w/lightened flywheel These are some relatively cheap and easy mods to do, and you'll notice a big difference. You can always go with a stroker crank, big bore kits or something but it all depends on how much you drive your bike and how much money you want to spend.
  25. Yeah I agree, buy the whole kit, crank seals too you might as well do it right when you take it apart.
