  1. Jesus guys this is a banshee forum don't drag politics into it it'll just be a big flame war and I'll never figure out how to jet my carbs properly because you'll be busy arguing about Bush! It doesn't matter what politician it is, theyre all crooked.
  2. It says in the clymer manual to run it at 16:1 for a bit and let it warm up and drive it around a little not revving it, then drain gas and put 24:1 in it and drive it a bit not revving then let it cool down and start it back up and start hitting the powerband. It doesn't say how many tanks of gas, but 2.5 should be ok as long as you aren't really gunning it. I just got mine bored and when I get the crank put back in and put together I am going to baby it it cost too much to fix it this time to be cranking on it during important break in time.
  3. You can take one of the rollers off, i think the bottom chain roller you know there's 3 there by the front sprocket, that will give you a little bit to play with. Put it back on when the chain loosens up enough.
  4. I bought my '99 from a farmer way in the country I seen the ad in a local classifieds paper. I looked over it for about an hour checked everything. asked TONS of questions, then started it warmed it up and took it for a ride and it worked sweet. When i only had it in fifth and my hat flew the hell off and eyes were watering ( i had no helmet) i was sold.
  5. Pull the plugs out and switch them and see if the cylinder is stull screwed. It just sounds liek a bad plug, but if it's not the plug it could be something wrong with the carb or worse, the dreaded piston death. :: Try the plug and let us know.
  6. Well the crank part is true, by the time you replace all the bearings, rods and inner/outer webs you're looking at alot of money and it's cheaper to go with an aftermarket welded crank that has rebuildable inner webs (the part that holds the connecting rod on). To check the crank you need to split the motor and pull it out and have a dial to see if its trued. But from what youre saying your crank is fine and that guy is trying to rip you off! I just did a complete engine rebuild, bore out both cylinders, plane the head, and new crank and connecting rods. I live in canada and this is how much it cost me: Wiseco crank assembly with hot rods - 640.00 Bore cylinders and plane head with mild porting - 170.00 Wiseco piston kit (64.5 mm pistons, head gasket, base gaskets, reed gaskets, water pump gaskets and rings circlips wrist pins and wrist pin bearings) - 320.00 Clymer manual - 40.00 If I were you I would just bore it out .20 thou more over and go with a wiseco piston kit. Youre maybe looking at 400 bucks and thats canadian pricing stuff is cheaper in the states. I hope this helps.
  7. I found a 89 banshee for sale for 300 bucks. The motor works good in it, I think I am going to buy it for parts anyways, tear the crank out of it and check it out if it's good I am going to slap it into my 99 shee and do the top end. I took it to a guy today he knows his shit he's going to port it and mill the head and fix the domes, and I am going to get a piston kit. Thanks for the help
  8. I live in Canada, and that crank from TDR is going to cost me a fortune because I'll have to pay duty and tax when it crosses the border, plus the exchange rate...I'm going to look around here first but I'm not getting my hopes up.
  9. Ok, heres a question, what would I have to do to put a 4mm stroker kit in? I mean im replacing most of the engine now anyways, I might as well do it up a little.
  10. Proflow? Do you have a link to their site? I have been looking around google and these forums for the last 20 minutes and all I can find is info about AIR FILTERS!!!!
  11. I will probably go with a noss head and 20cc domes. The pistons I can do myself, too but what I'm not sure about is the crank. The connecting rod is cooked, so I'll need a new rod, and I might as well replace both of them. Is my stock crank any good at all or should I just order a new one? On the banshee zone the guy reccomended a tony doukas racing crank which is trued and welded. It's 400 bucks, is there any other company you guys reccomend for a crank? Is there any way I can just replace the bearings where the connecting rods join up to the crank? I am new to all of this crank stuff! Please help
  12. Hi, My right bearing where the connecting rod attaches to the crank on the bottom end siezed up on me yesterday. I pulled both jugs off and I checked everything out, and I am going to have to a big motor job. My cylinders are wore pretty bad, one has a groove all the way from the top to the bottom. Anyways, I am going to have to do these things: 1)Fix my crank 2) get new connecting rods, bore it over .20 and put new pistons, wrist pins and wrist pin bearings in it (stock bore now) 3) fix the head - one dome is beat all to hell and I think I might just go woth a new head I need to know what is the best thing to do here. I dont want to spend tons of money, but I want it done right. I drive on the trails all the time, and I don't want to make my bike a 1/8 mile drag bike. What should I do?
  13. Hi, I'm going to cut my fenders and I wanted to know if anyone had a guide to do it. I dont want to f*ck up my fenders when I cut them. I searched the threads but all that came up was pics of bikes with the fenders already cut. What type of saw/jig saw should I use? I have a hack saw I was going to use that. Well any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
  14. There are so many different religions and they can't be all right. Religion is a touchy subject, all I know is if there is a god and heaven etc... I'm going to hell in a handbasket!
  15. Mine fell off too so I welded a kickstarter off a late 70's Honda XR 80 to the base where the old kickstarter was. It works awesome. Dealership wanted me to buy the whole kickstarter assembly (all the springs and gears for the transmission included) for 140 bucks and wouldn't sell me the kickstarter seperately. Just find an old kickstarter somewheres and weld it to the base, you can always take it off the spline if you get a new kickstarter.
  16. Hey I needed tires badly for my shee and I picked up some Kenda Dominators 20x11x9 they really hook up good and they are identical to a holeshot. I have a friend that has a z400 and he has holeshot XCR's and the kendas are almost identical (except for price) they are alot cheaper than the holeshots. I would highly recommend them!
  17. I saved the pieces of aluminum that broke off (it's just the top flat piece) and I used liquid aluminum and put it back together and it's as good as new. I also fixed my chain I had the bike out last night and rode it hard it's working good.
  18. Hey, my master link came off last night and the chain bound up by the front sprocket and it broke the piece of aluminum at the top of the front sprocket. I have a friend that has a banshee and his did the same thing I was wondering if anyone had the same thing happen to them. It's just that flat piece of aluminum that's at the top of the front sprocket.
  19. It says yamaha on the faring before the footpegs...my guess its a newer R6 but I thought the exhaust was under the seat on the newer ones not on the side.
  20. I really like mine, but I haven't had any other pipes on the bike. I think they're the best all around pipe for trail riding and fire roads and drag racing all put together. It depends what type of riding you do.
  21. Hey my swingarm bearings are gone and I wanted to know what you normally replace to fix it. I ordered a bearing for each side and an oil seal for each side, I looked at rivayamaha's swingarm assembly picture in the parts catalogue. Should I order a sleeve too? My swingarm was fine then it just went...too many wheelies? Thanks in advance
  22. If my banshee breaks, I go riding on my 2003 Kawasaki 800 SX-R. I bought it new last year, it rocks! Sit downs are for women.
  23. Me and my friends always have a plan if we have to take the pavement for some reason. If we see the red and blue lights its scramble time, we all split up if we can that way our chances are better getting away. We always have a meeting point too, to group back together. It's every man for himself when the 5-0 comes, next time just get away! You never know what a cop is going to do to you and your fate is in their hands...
  24. I hate all the 4 pokers that I go biking with that always knock my banshee and say its 2 stroke junk and shit. I get tired of it. People have an attitude towards banshees. They are the bike people love to hate.
