  1. A few years back(probably more like 7 or 8) i had good luck with ricky stator rewinding my broken stator. They must have gone down hill since. The longer I have been away, the more things have changed. Seems like for the worst for a lot of companies I used to hold in high regard. Brian
  2. I'm gonna throw this one out there: You don't say if you have your TORS removed or not, but it sure sounds like the parking brake may be on and the TORS/Electronics is functioning like it's supposed to. That's my suggestion. Brian
  3. What is the make of your throttle control? Not all throttle controls are the same and require slightly different ends and lengths of cable. The Ebay one is for a CR throttle. I've seen magpull and Whirlpull throttles as well. My banshee has the whirlpull twist on it. Brian
  4. Try Motionpro for parts for the cable. I believe that most of the cables that are aftermarket use motion pro. If you contact them directly they should have parts or be able to direct you to a dealer that can order from them the specific part you need. Flanders Company sells parts to make cables, and they might have what you need as well. Brian
  5. If no power to anything, it most likely is a bad connection or bad ground. Time to get out the multimeter and start checking wires and switches for continuity. Hopefully you have a clymer or shop manual to get the wiring diagram. The stock stators have been known to fail due to the epoxy that's used to cover the wires on the poles. I had one go bad although it was on the engine side and not the lighting side. Had it rewound at Ricky Stator. I don't know if he is still in business though. Still having it rewound is a better option than buying a new one from Yamaha. Brian
  6. Red and green stickers are for off road motorcycles and atvs that are registered in California. Green stickered vehicles can ride on public land anytime of the year. Red stickered vehicles may only be used during specified times of the year on public lands. Since you are in MA you don't have to worry (yet). Brian
  7. If it's a brass tube then you have to remove the petcock and re solder it into the petcock. It should be about 2 inches long or so. It is used for the reserve/main positions of the petcock. When the lever is set to the main the fuel is drawn through the tube. When it can no longer draw fuel , you will be left with a bit fuel in the tank which is your reserve. You switch to the reserve position and then draw the rest of the fuel out of the tank. Hope this helps. Brian
  8. I stand by my comments. I do respect your opinions even if they don't agree with mine and will listen to them. I've done my share of helping as well as being helped. However a lot of the postings turn ugly for one reason or another. Also there is a lot of useless junk that has to be weeded out to find the gems. So like I said this is normal and expected for any forum. I do think it has out lived it's usefullness to me. I will miss those who I respect and you all know who you are. (I'd have liked to meet a lot you in person, and may still run across you out and about on the Banshee) Just because I'm not a post whore, doesn't mean I haven't contributed "usefull" information. 95% of my posts were informational and pretty factual and usefull to the individual I responded to. Not many can say the same. I do have several posts that I am not proud of and shouldn't have posted them in hind sight. Wheatchex PS: If you all want to tell me to piss off, that's your right. I am however entitled to my opinions and if you don't like them so be it.
  9. After having been away and not posting or following the site for several months, I have seen what I inevetably expected. From the get go Lee (as it seemed to me) has always tried to maintain a place where information about the Banshee has been freely distributed and for the most part been offered cheerfully. Initially off topic postings were tolerated as long as they were not flames. When it did occur the flamer was delt with pretty quickly. Bluebreadtruck, anyone? For the most part people were treated with respect. It seems as though that has all gone out the window. Flaming seems to be rampant as well as a general lack of respect. This has been on going and has been delt with fairly well up until lately although there have been instances where people who really knew their stuff had had enough and gave up trying. I like to think that I was able to hang on through most of it. It is with this forum as it is with other forums with good intentions, they have their knowlege base diminish over time because of a lack of respect, off topic postings and childish actions of some. This is to be expected as a site's popularity grows and the people who really cared move on because of the crap that gets posted vs the important information which gathered us here initially. Having said that, I probably will be frequenting the HQ less and ultimately drop off altogether in the near future. I might stop in once in a while, hovever I won't be posting. Lee: Thank you for having the site available way back when when I needed it most (98 or 99) and allowing me to be a productive member. For those who I helped: you are welcome if anything I suggested helped get you out of a jam or clarified your problem. For those who helped me: A big pat on the back and a well deserved thank you. For everyone else: Enjoy what time the HQ has left and treat others with respect and they will in turn respect you. It doesn't work to expect respect and then decide whether or not give it back. If only more people would remember the golden rule as it is easy to forget on the net. It was a fun ride while it lasted. See you on the dunes or on the trail. Adios! Wheatchex
  10. Just want to thank you to all Veterans who have served, are serving or have paid the ultimate sacrifice so that I can live in the worlds greatest country. God Bless. Wheatchex
  11. Ok, so those are the jets they send with the air box mods. That makes perfect sense if that is the only thing you do. However anytime you change the intake or exhaust system you need to rejet, so it is clear that your main jets would need to go up higher than 280 if you add pipes into the mix after doing the air box. I would think that Toomey would have some pretty good recomendations based on the fact that they most likely have tried all of the intake/exhaust combinations that they manufacture. They also don't want customers coming back to them and saying that they burned up an engine because of incorrect jetting. The fine print on their instructions may cover their butts in that regard if there is a disclaimer that says you are responsible for correctly jetting after installing their products. Wheatchex
  12. It sounds like you have them set up fine, but did you ever think to read the instructions that came with the pipes or contact Toomey for their reccomendations? Wheatchex
  13. Instead of the Vic go out and get yourself a Volvo. They are probably by far the safest cars on the road. Also with the older 240's you could put a ford mustang 5.0 L in it and have a sweet/sleeper of a ride. Do a search on the net for v8 volvo. Wheatchex
  14. Actually Brugal you should be doing the opposite. The 8 is a "hotter" plug than the 9. The NGK numbers go from 1 to 12 with 12 being cold and the 1 being hottest. The numbering system basically tells you how well the plug disapates heat from combustion. A hotter plug does not remove heat as fast as a colder one. It also is an indication as to how well it will burn off the carbon deposits on the insulator. If you are fouling plugs a lot you should bump to the next samller number(NGK numbering system). Yamaha recomends the B9ES as the stock plug. Most people run the B8ES or BR8ES as they don't foul as readily. Wheatchex
  15. The BR8ES is a standard resistor spark plug with a 14mm thread, 13/16" hex, heat rating of 8, 19mm thread reach, and a 2.5 mm diameter center electrode. The BR8EIX is a resistor spark plug with a 14mm thread, 13/16" hex, heat rating of 8, 19mm thread reach, and a high performance Iridium electrode. I would guess that the BR8EIX will lighten your wallet more as well. Wheatchex For NGK plug info click here: Spark plug 411 go to the bottom and click on the NGK numbering chart for complete info as to what the number means.
