This is caused by a few things. Either you have an airleak somewhere, there is something wrong with the synchronization tube that connects the 2 carbs together or your idle screws arent set up properly. Or (this is what I think it is) your pilot jets are plugged. When you choke the bike it should idle better right? The revving means you're lean and not getting enough fuel and too much air when idiling. Turn your air screws ont he carbs in all the way, and turn them both 2 turns out. Then screw your idle speed screws ont he top of the carbs in all the way and start at 3 turns out. Of its revving then unscrew them the same until it idles right. If its bogging then screw them in till it idles right. Don't do this until you check airleaks and your pilot jets. Pilot jets would be the first thing to check because mine does this quite often and I just tek them out and take the air compressor to them and it fixes the idle problem. This is called dieseling it's when your running so fucking lean that the plugs get so hot you dont ened a spark anymore the plugs are hot enough to ignite the fuel on their own. when this happens turn your petcock off or hold your hand over the airbox and flood it to make the engine quit. this is really really bad dude youre running lean. Yes it sounds like it is. Take the carbs apart, and get some clean rags and tear those bastards apart and take the carb cleaner to them. take every jet, screw everything off and clean it and put it back together. If this just started happening its prolly just dirty carbs. just pray to your god(s) that you never hurt the engine any

Well your bike is a 96, I would be getting a new crank assembly for the bike instead of replacing a couple of bearings. When that guy said he can rebuild the crank, did he mean replacing everything? You're better off spending the extra money to get a new crank. Tony Doukas Racing Crankshafts 400 american you get a trued and welded crank, and you send the old one to them for the core refund. My crank went about 2 months ago. I have a 99 shee. The needle bearing where the rod connects to the inner web on the crank exploded and siezed. The bearings on the crank were in rough shape too. Both rods were cooked. I was looking at alot of money by the time I got 2 rod kits and an inner web (because the pin was worn) and the inner webs on the stock banshee cranks aren't rebuildable. I went and got a completely rebuilt crank from a place in canada, same deal about 400 bucks and I sent my old crank off to them and I have been driving my shee ever since on amsoil dominator 32:1 and its working good. I really find it hard to believe he can overhaul your crank for that price. I think alot of people on this board will agree that you should get a new crank assembly instead of trying to fix the one you have. And no, welding doesn't weaken it. It makes it stronger. BANSHEE BOTTOM END GUIDE Go to that link and check it out. Hope that helps Edit : Oh and get that seal kit too. You will have to replace your crank seals (2) when you get the new crank put in. Might as well replace all the other seals when you have the bottom end apart.

hell yeah - I'm going to do that to mine this weekend.

I can't believe you walked away from that...

dude youre gonna be joining your friends soon if you don't get bigger mains!!!!!!! This is what I have: Ported cylinders 1/2" reed spacers Fmf fattys + pc2s Planed head pro design airbox and dual stage filter Bored out .20 over with wiseco prolites boot bottle sea level 60-70 degrees temp I run 320 mains 27.5 pilot needle clip 4th clip from top air screw 2 turns out My jetting is pretty good but I am going to try a 330 or a 340 soon. I still have a bit to go before I'm running rich. Its easy to change mains!!! You dont even have to take the carbs off, just pull the slide out and take fuels lines off loosen the boots and rotate it so the bowl is facing you take the bowl off and voila put new jet in and reassemble. -
what do you mean it's all gone? All gone out of your resivoir tank AND the rediator? Or just lost it out of the resivoir? If youre burning antifreeze itll smell sweet and there will be white smoke coming form the pipe(s). Check the oil with your dipstick and see if its milky. If none of the above, and it's just the coolant tank, were you pulling wheelies or riding on rough terrain? If I'm going on an all out wheelie tear then I lose alot out of the bottle. Let us know.

If you have the money get a noss head with some smaller domes for racing and some larger domes for normal riding. I don't know about the gains you will get with new carbs, but I had alot of work done to my bike and I left the stock carbs on and they work great. Lighten flywheel and timing advance will give you more snappy throttle response. For the money v-force reeds cost, I would just use the stock reed cages and get fmf or boyesen reeds and put some reed spacers in. You would notice a considerable gain if you got it ported, but if you don't want to do that right now try to get more compression.

anyone ever visit everything2stroke.com

Hey, never said I didn't like it, hell it's probably the only other quad related site I visit and I do go there a bit but most of the time I am on BHQ I am looking for info on my banshee and my time is just spent better here. I will go over there right now and give it an honest chance. There is a big shortage of 2 stroke quad related websites these days. -
Everytime you hit the gas on the banshee it goes..

you have a tors removal kit? is this starting doing this out of the blue it could be that your parking brake lever is on a bit or your throttle sensor went bad. please give us more info. -
So called Assult Weapon ban over!

Wow you guys have a totally different perspective on guns...we have guns in nova scotia but most are hunting rifles I like in hicktown and there's some people that go hunting, but I could never imagine getting a gun myself. I just have no need. Hell I don't even lock my door at night, I always leave the keys in my vehicles sitting around the yard we just don't worry about that crap here. If someone's gonna shoot me so be it. I'm not going to be living scared my whole life, hoarding assualt rifles under my matress in case someone tries to rob me. That's just silly. -

I visit there every now and then, I think it's a cool site and it hasn't been up very long, but I don't have an account there. I like BHQ better, it just seems everyone knows their shit more here more than at e2s. More banshee specific info here. -

I painted my plastic with black krylon fusion. I would NEVER do it again, for this reason. I carry gas jugs with me sometimes on my grab bar, just a little one, and a bit of gas leaked out one night and ran down my rear fender and took all the paint off it. Also, when I fill up with gas, and I spill just a drop or two it instantly lifts the paint off the plastic. I used a grase remover to prep my plastic. It looked good when I first did it but now it looks like shit. I am going to remove all the paint. Prep it again maybe with some synthetic steel wool and prime and paint it. Or just buy new plastic. Spray paint is crap. From now on I'm using a spray gun. Hope you have better luck with it than me.

Yeah its going to be unstable because wheel spacers are the cheater's way of getting a longer wheelbase. Harder on the bearings too. Good for a MX track or something, but not meant for alot of speed. If you have a clymer manual do the toe in check. You say unstable...do you mean your tires wobble or it just handles like crap? Flipping the tires gives you quite a bit more wheelbase, and spacers adds to that so you have really extended the wheelbase without redoing your suspension or a-arms. It would look cool for sure, but I would go back to the stock setup and try it and see.

are you sure if you put honda cleaner on a yamaha you won't lose any speed?? I use wd-40 and a rag, my friend uses wheel acid or some shit on his bike and it really cleans it up but I won't be putting that stuff on my bike anytime soon
-
what do you gain by getting bigger/different carbs? Are they easier to work on?
-
You probably want some razr2' or some holeshots.
-
You never said what your plugs looked like. I would go at least 20 more on the mains. You would be surprised how much fuel you can put into the shee before it starts to bog out WOT. I thought 260's were big, and I went from that to a 320 and I'm still a little lean and that was after a port job.
-
When it suptters does it smoke? And what do the plugs look like after it has idled for a bit, do they have quite a bit of oil on them? What happens when you put the choke on? It doesn't sound lean, because if it was it would rev up and just be a plain bitch. Have you taken your carbs apart and cleaned them? Usually when I have a problem with my bike and I know it's fuel related, I always clean my carbs and see if that fixes it (and it usually does) It sounds to me like youre running a little rich, but you seem sure you're not. Do you have a clymer manual or did you read the bhq jetting faq? Theres more info there that might help.

And make sure you get one that has a clip on master link! I just picked an XW-ring chain from RK racing last week and the guy at the store swore it was a clip on....I get home 100 dollars and 1 hour drive later, and the goddamn master link was the press fit type (for crotch rockets) I had a 520 master link at my house, but it wouldnt fit in because the xw-ring chain has vinyl bushings inside it. Just some words of caution.

I have always liked yoshi pipes. You should get a yfz450 if youre going with a thumper.

Shee dont seem to be hittin the high notes
2Smoker replied to Bansheeman1121's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sounds like you're lean. This sort of thing scares the shit out of me and about 100% of the members on this board. You might want to put in some bigger main jets. When the bike is lean, it will rev up fine, but there will be power loss and it just won't have the pull. Those plugs should have oil around the first 2-3 threads on the plug, and I like to see a brown color on mine. Are the plugs blistered ar all? Have look here : Spark Plug Reading Have a look here too :BansheeHQ jetting faq
