  1. we took the carb off an cleaned it up the float was seized, then we put it back together and it still dint start, we sprayed some starter fluid in the intake and it backfired, like the timing is off,,,,is there any way of checking the timing on an atv that wont run? im thinking jsut take it to the dealership an pay the 80 bucks they charge to diagnose it..

  3. ok. lets say the exposed nipple is an overflow, shouldnt it overflow if i prime the bulb 20 or 30 times and i try to start the engine with the choke on for a while? cause its not. im not an expert either but i figure with the engine heat the gas in the hose would evaporate an go back in the tank, the hose looks like it should go on there
  4. im trying to get a 1996 honda fourtrax (trx300) started and cant,,, i noticed today that there is a hose attachment on the bottom of the carb with no hose attached to it this nipple is right underneath where the priming nob is. I also found a hose leading to (i think) the gas tank thats not attached that seems to be the same diameter of the nipple, im wondering if this hose goes attached to that nipple at the bottom of the carb an its use to recirculate overflow gas from the carb bowl, am i right? if i prime the nob a bunch of times an try to start it with the choke on a bunch of times an it doenst start, should gas come out of there? cause its not. can anyone verify or correct my suspicions....
  5. like some others said, that spark and crackling noises u saw na heard usually come about when moisture builds up on the cables, the best way to test the condition of a spark plug wire is to wet it and run it in a dark place an look for sparks an the crackling noises,,, i think that what is hapening is that becuase the wire is torn somewhere on the boot or elsewhere on the cable, the spark plug isnt geting a good spark or any spark at all. YET sometimes it will , so as it misses an misses spark it flods and wont run,,,when u went to the bar an the gas dried up an then tryied to start it again it did, my guess is that the wires have been geting worse an worse an now the bike wont run, try weting the cables an runing it in the dark an listen out for the crackles an the sparks not too long ago i had a problem with my banshee where it was flooding an not starting and it turned out to be the spark plugs, what ur expiriencing is the same thing, only the prob is not spark plugs, its the wires. hope this helps
  6. now this isnt a banshee question,,,,but i got my hands on a honda fourtrax 300 and my friend said it was running a week ago, but now we cant get it started, she said the gas in it was about a year old, so i siphoned the gas out, put new gas, changed the spark plug, made sure the battery was fully charged and nothing, i checked for spark its good, compression is good, and the spark plug smells like gas,,,what else could it be,,,the starter runs an runs but the engine doesnt kick in, like when a car is out of gas,,,,any ideas? im geting a can of starter fluid tomorrow to check it more throughly, put i tried pouring gas and it didnt start.

  8. i was riding the banshee an then i stoped an when i went to ttake off it wouldnt engage 1st gear, like the clutch is slipping what can that be? do i need a new clutch? the clutch handle works an moves, so its not jammed up, but it seems like it cant grab,,,,can someone help me?
  9. what do u mean plug back to the carb? are those hoses suppose to be connected to the carb? they were like that when i got it
  10. we recently changed the clutch assy becuase it had gotten stuck, finally everything is done, but its hard to start it, then when it does, if ur not careful it will stall out,then it wont start for a while, is that normal when the engine is cold? it seems like its not getting enough gas...also theres a switch on the side of the banshee that says RES ON OFF. and theres 2 hoses runing from it, is that a reserve tank? the hoses are just hanging there an the gas drips an drips can somone verify what that is an maybe give me some tips on geting it started
  11. i finalyl got the push rod and ball out that had welded shut. I heard u can heat up the ball an rod an change the temper of the metal, but does anyone know of a website that i can order something better than stock so that this doesnt happen again,,,i dont really feel like fiddling with a torch an all that,,,,
  12. is the manufacturing year stamped anywhere on a bashee engine? how could i tell what year it is?
  13. here are some diagrams i found to help explain what i found. i guess my REAL question is , how can i unstuck part #24 from the diagram, thats what is stuck, and im asuming the push rod is stuck or maybe even welded to part #24. what do i do?
  14. so i took it apart today after work. the ball is tuck to a screw, not the rod, and the rod is inside the port, i think what hapened was that some of the metal rom the ball jamed it in there, and now it wont come out. i have the ball out and the screw out, all that is left is that rod, the point where the clutch wire ties into the clutch is stuck too an it wont move, we tried taping it with a punchan hammer an it didnt budge. whats the next move? is there any way of geting acess to that fom the opposite side of where the clutch is an using a punch to push it out? i didnt think about trying to use a magnet, but id need one of those telescoping ones an even then i think its jamed in there. how would u guys fix it?
