  1. Piston's are pistons. What makes Wiseco so good is that they're forged, not cast. Forged pistons have less irregularities, metal is denser and expands more uniformally when heated. Cast pistons..crappy ones AKA OEM & Pro-X, their are actually voids or air bubbles trapped inside the metal, the metal itself is weaker, though the pistons are thicker. When they heat up, they don't expand evenly..oh they also weigh more. So, ask em if they are forged or cast..if they don't know..don't buy em.
  2. Oh shit, you were ther the same time I was.. Mar01 2003 - feb24 04. I was in 9/101. Worked my ass off. Offered me 20 grand to re-up..I said shove it, I'm out. Peace. My luck they're gonna call my ass back up from IRR.
  3. well, their isn't anything you can do except take the return spring out of the throttle housing...The cable is teflon lined and any lube will just ruin it. Also make shure their arn't any extreame angles in your cable routing..keep it as straight as possible.
  4. I went with a set of 28mm pwk's and V-force reeds. I can't complain. I got no starting woes, she starts up all the time, everytime on the first or second kick. Mind you, it wasn't easy to tune but once i got her all dialed in, I only have to do minor jet changes at diffrent seasons of the year to keep her runnin in her prime. Throttle response is 2nd to none, doesn't bog or hesitate..But it was a bitch to tune.
  5. Look for a section on the track where the fence isnt attached to the poles...make a figure 8 between the poles and run it to your hearts content. Also place a rock in a feild and try to keep your front tire on it as you spin your quad around in circles.
  6. I got my 2 cents to add. I remember I was a bit pissed off, a little confused and disgruntled when I was in the service. Yeah I was deployed for a year, yeah I fought a war, yeah this yeah that..but so what? I don't need anyone's admiration, I don't need any hand outs or sympathy. I'm over all that shit. Nobody owes me a damn thing and I owe nobody anything. I suggest you visit DC their PolyCarbon and take a walk down to the Veitnam memorial. Compared to that shit, OIF was just a camping trip in the desert for a year. Yeah it sucked..but what can you do? Just file a claim with the VA, get yourself some compensation and use your Montgomery GI bill to the fullest extent. Don't join the service to glory hunt, don't think you'll be a hero...just do your job and deal with what your presented. Military isn't for everyone..It wasn't for me, but I gritted my teeth did my time and now I'm enjoying my life. Here's a tip to those that want to join Aviation is the only way to serve, the Airforce sucks, Army will wear you down, the Marines are a bunch of jarheads and the Navy's gay. Take your pick.
  7. I got their thumb throttle & cable, but I refuse to use the cable..it's the biggest P.O.S. I've ever bought for my machine! The throttle asy took a little bit of modification to get it to work "just" right and it's been holding up well for me. The pull is lighter for me..the terry cable has way too much resistance in it for my taste and it's a P.O.S.! Get a motion pro cable and your probs will be solved.
  8. Motor doesn't look all that old...but what's up with the Left side?? You forget to put in the rings or somthing??
  9. And how long did it take you to realize this?
  10. I believe the gty-r advances the timing as well...call yamaha tech and ask them. They'll let you know.
  11. Naa, I doubt you ruined the carrier..stock ones are made of steel..so long ad the outer race seats in tight you'll be fine. Them stock carriers are pretty tough. Aluminum on the otherhand....yes it's lighter, but a shot bearing can f*ck it all to hell.
  12. Um...octate slows the rate of burn during combustion. High compression motors need high octane fuel to prevent detonation..which is the uncontrollable burn or knock you get when the fuel ignites before it's supposed to. Low octane fuels contain more heptane..that's where the power from gas comes from..but heptane is extremely volitile and burns way too fast. Octane is added to control the rate of burn..slowing it down so it burns evenly and more efficiently. So High octane fuels won't hurt anything..but your wallet. Banshees will knock at seal level 29.92hg @59 deg F (basic average pressure & temp day) on 87 rated fuel. You should run at least 90..but I would suggest getting the best pumpgas you can ...Sunoco ultra 94..it contains no additives..that's a whole nother animal..
  13. I'm still voting for Kerry. Why? Because it's my choice and I choose the side of shit that I haven't smelled yet...perhaps it will be better..maybe not..Who knows that's the chance I'm willing to take.
  14. I'm a fan of the 20x10 holeshot mx fronts. They carve a nice turn, brake well, absorb impact good, they wear well considering their soft rubber compound. I've ran 21x10 standard holeshots, 22x10 bandit steel belted fronts and I'm sticking with the 20's. Steering is light, feedback is minimal and wear on the bearings is drastically reduced...I used to change my spindle bearings yearly..it's been 3 years since I last changed them...but then again I did switch to lithium based grease..maybee that explains the longevity. Lithuim and molybendumdysulfide..bearings love that shit.
  15. Make shure it HIGH TEMP SILICONE. Not all hoses are they same. Hight temp silicone is hard to find..least it was when I was in Tennesse. Stock couplings won't last you a week..learned that the hard way. But if you want to spend some good money..the clapless billet couplings are worth their weight in gold. They work and work quite well..they also add to the bling factor which is always a good bonus for a well designed part.
  16. Just let her warm up..that's the best thing you can do. Putt around while your freinds go crazy and when it's warmed up..let em have it. Everybody has something to prove against a banshee. Don't worry about it. Have you noticed that..A banshee rider doesn't care who he beats but who he looses too, everybody else puts a notch on their belt if they manage to beat a banshee and don't care if they loose because they usually do and it's by a banshee.
  17. Think about this...If you drop 3 grand into your shee, you can take care of all those pesky problems with 1/2 the cost of buying new. Don't worry about making it faster until you make it reliable. My old 87 used to be a ragged out POS..now it's more reliable then my brothers 2005 raptor...mines an 87. Just gotta get dirty and take care of the problems before they become a real one. I can open up my garage, go down to the track and race without having to worry about anything falling apart or breaking down. I rebuilt my machine over two years ago and have quite a few races on it since then but I keep after it and until I blow the engine or crack the frame so bad it becomes a hazard..I'm going to keep running it.
  18. I'm partial to the Magura Hydraulic clutch lever. Bought mine 3 years ago and have yet to adjust it. I did have to adjust my clutch asy itself as the plates wore down...but that's normal. Damn thing works so good I never even think about it..it never fades.
  19. Sounds like a classic case of dirty carbs. Take them off and clean them out. I bet you got some gunk in there.
  20. I bought a set of pro-x..They suck. They are cast aluminum..they are heavy and make a lot of noise. They wear out the rings too fast, excessive piston slap. All around bad pistons. They take longer to warm up too. Pretty much a direct replacement for stock.
  21. V-force can't be beat. They try..but they can't be beat.
  22. When the chain skips...99% of the time it's jumping teeth on the FRONT sprocket. Check to make shure the teeth are not cracked, broken or missing. When I get my Banshee in some thick mud or deep loose sand my shit will pop from all the torque my motor's putting out. But on an MX track I get no complaints..go figure. I'm due for a new chain & sprocket set anyways.
  23. Shit..I take a vacation and people go crazy. Dirtrider has some freakin issues...so sad that he airs his dirty laundry where everybody can see. Internet stalking is a felony..I'm shure the FBI would like to investigate this matter further.
  24. At least enshure both floats sit at the same level
