  1. I say do it yourself if you think you can tackle the job. Don't be supprised if you muff thinks up and ruin a few cylinders in the process.
  2. You'll ride it again. Have a local bikeshop bore out your cylinders for you..unless you have the equipment already..don't pay more then 50-60 dollar shop fee per hour..should only take them about 2 hours to bore so your looking at 100-120 dollar bore job..that's a good price..unless you know people that know people. Don't bore the cylinders out until you have the new pistons in hand. That's should be the only thing you have to contract out. Everything else you can do yourself. You should already have a repair manual on hand..if not..bikeshops have them and it'll run you 40 bones. Nextyou gotta check out your rods and crank bearings. If your rods are shot drop down the extra 340 bones and pick up a hotrod crank asy from wiseco..Oh Wiseco is where you should get your pistons at as well, don't buy them from the bike shop..you'll get ripped off..that is unless you know someone. Buy the parts via mail order and out of state so you won't pay a sales tax..but you will pay shipping.
  3. Ok, The forks are numbered and need to be installed right. If they are bent and worn, they should be replaced. Pretty much, if it doesn't move smooth, it should be replaced..the forks, cam..check the gears themselves by moving them, and engaging the diffrent gears with them just sitting in the cases..everything should be smooth. Maybe you have a bad bearing in there or something is bent..maybe the forks are installed wrong..they all look the same, but they are all diffrent..pay attention to that..notice the numbers on them. My tranny is from 1987..My shit is crazy worn but it still works..I got issues going from 2nd to third sometimes..but tranny's arn't cheap. So I hope your problem won't cost you much money.
  4. You know reality is nothing but an illusion caused by the reflection of light. What you see isn't really their, it's all inside your head. Everybody's reality is different, their interpritations, experiances, involvement. Matter is energy in a slow vibrational state. So since we are made of matter we are prisoners trapped in this reality. We cannot escape it, their is no way to will yourself beyond a physical existance..unless the dead have achieved that state, left their physical bodies behind never to return...but there is no proof of another existance and perhaps that's the scam...to keep us here enslaved. Now were getting into conspericy theories..Tools of control...population control..mind control..religion is a major tool used to control the masses. Look how rabidly people are defending their beliefs right here trying to pursuade others to see it "their" way.
  5. It was a 500cc bike I think..older honda cr500..perhaps even a kx 500...gotta look at it again..big square radiator scoops are a dead give away for a 500
  6. I'm still working on getting big air....Shit hurts like a mother fucker when you land hard...tears the machine up too.
  7. The dogs on the back of the gears should be square. Do you have a repair manual? They give the tolerances allowed for wear in the tranny. I assume you've already tried to adjust your shift lever where it engages the shift star? There's a little screw that will change the throw of the lever. There is also a spring. If that screw is worn or the spring is weak, you won't be able to shift right. Also pay real close attention to how you assembled the tranny..perhaps you've installed a part incorrectly. The shifter forks slide not only on the cam, but on rails too..make shure those arn't bent or worn.
  8. No dude, the pwk's don't look a thing like the stock carbs. I picked up mine a few years ago for 185 a pair brand new..not shure what the price is now.
  9. Shit...I simply say no. If they push the issue, I ask to off road their car.
  10. It would cost you about as much to bore the stock carbs out to 28mm then to just pick up a set of 28mm pwk's...the pwk's flow a hell of a lot better then bored out stock carbs.
  11. Well that's what you get for not knowing what your doing...Did you install it right?
  12. Naa dude, jb weld is brittle. Your best bet would be to zip tie it back together and use larger washers. I had my rear fender crack and It's been zip tied now for 2 years and still holding strong.
  13. Your shifter cam may have grooves in it, your forks may be bent or worn. The shift star is connected to your tranny cam and the forks ride in the grooves..as you change gears you rotate the cam which moves the forks, when the forks move they engage/ disengage cirtain gears..on the gears themselves are dogs and if they are worn, they cause the gears to stick..if the gears stick, the forks can get bent..if the forks are bent, they wear out the cam if the cam is worn, well now you pretty much have a worn out tranny.
  14. Yeah, Toomey makes the best product hands down and has great customer support. You can even exhange pipes for new ones if your hanger's break...so long as you don't weld them up. I might be doing that this winter during the off- season or if my pipe breaks completly off. But my Toomeys are over 4 years old and I ride the crap out of my machine.
  15. I don't belive in any organized religion...but I do not discount the fact that there may just be a god or even gods. I belive we are all part of the same universe and are directly connected to it and the universe directly connected to us. So in essence we are all gods in some way or at least we are all part of god. The world is way to complex for us to be an accident. So to say there is no god is pretty ignorant..but then to say that there is only my god..that's ignorant as well. I say there maybe a god as the concept of god isn't all that impossible to grasp as there was a beginning so there shall be an end. Anything is possible and who really knows.
  16. I use all elbow grease, one hand puckes the swingarm up, the other guides the shock in and then slapes the bolt through. Make shure you've clead all the dirt out of there..it'll cause the bushings not to seat right.
  17. From my understanding you need totaly diffrent carbs designed to work specificaly with alcohol and you need a fuel cell..you can't just fill up a stock tank with alcohol as it will evaporate way too fast. I think a fuel pump is required to keep pressure in the lines and stop vapor lock from happening...Not shure. I was going to convert my shee to alcohol years ago but the cost disuaded me.
  18. Slow jets are your pilot jets. They make a huge diffrence during off idle and 1/2 throttle. If I was you, I'd go out and buy a shit load of jets and start jetting that bitch. It's going to take some time to dial in. Right now I'd say your running rich off the bottom AKA your pilot may be too large and/ or your air screw isn't adjusted right...It's all a ballance and it'll take some time to get it right.
  19. The expansion chambers on outside pipes can be make a whole hell of a lot larger as the pipes arn't restricted to the confines of the frame. Those pipes if tuned properly to your motor will produce a hell of a lot more power then inframe pipes...outside pipes are usualy custom one off jobs and they cost quite a bit -o- cash...But since they stick out so damn far they are realy prone to getting damaged by debris and trees and rocks and chickens and little boys and kittens and your barbee collection. Standard pipes on the otherhand AKA Toomey, DG, FMF, CPI, DMC..ect..they are designed to operate within a broader range and arn't as tempramental to minor changes like mild portwork, larger carbs and over bored cylinders with stroked crank..that won't upset these pipes as much an a custom drag pipe designed to work with a specific engine setup.
  20. I liked all the ass kissing....makes me feel good.
  21. Going up there again this wensday..weather permitting of course....Gotx to come down and represent..last wensday there were 4 yfz 450r's, 1 400ex, a 250r and only 1 shee (mine) and a shit load of dirtbikers.
  22. Dude, I was in Iraq for a year and some change..I thank my friends and family every fucking day that I'm still alive. Bush is an asshole president, a war mongering fool and the Iraqi's are a bunch of inconsiderate bastards that can't see a good opertunity to get their shit together and do something with their country.....instead they blow up people that I know. I don't support the war..I don't support our government It's all bullshit and people need to wake up and realize this..our rights are being raped in the name of national security. Look around you and tell me this isn't true.
  23. Yeah, I got kicked out of the theatre watching Anchorman....seems mugs don't like people laughing during a comedy movie...Don't go to the Market Fair off of route 1 in princeton NJ..They suck ass...stick to loews in New brunswick...I cause so much trouble there it's funny!!
  24. Dude if your buddy can hang on an MX track with a three wheeler...He's got skillz. Just remember to lean when you corner and shift your weight to keep ballanced. Don't be cocky..you'll get hurt and stay in your limits until your comfortable with the machine your on and the conditions your riding in.
