  1. so unscrew the entire odd thing from the carb itself?
  2. Hey im trying to take my carbs off to be cleaned. How the hell do i take out the throttle cable? the carbs still have that big odd thing on top of them, i think that may be part of the TORS? anyways, the cable goes into there, and i have no idea how to take it out. All the little screws are stripped so i cant take the plate off that odd looking thing on top the carb...please help.
  3. come on guys...anyone???
  4. No, only the one tors connectors is unplugged. would that affect fuel delivery? Where are the other ones? I disconnected the three prong one located near the main carb, near the exhaust pipe
  5. OK i have more problems. I wasnt getting spark, so i disconnected the TORS. however, now i am not getting fuel. plugs arnt getting wet. However, this is the strange part, it does run when i blow compressed air through one of the overflow hoses coming out of the carb. when i do that, it starts right up. when i blow the air through, the gas inside the tank gurgles, and gas shoots out of the carb, although i cant see where it is coming from. very strange. someone said do a compression test, because the compression may be low, thus creating a low vaccum, so its not pulling fuel. anyon have any ideas? id really hate to have low compression right now as its for sale...
  6. ight, i got it. i disconnected the three prong plug for the TORS, and she fired right up. so do i just get another one of those box's? or can i just run it without tors?
  7. ok guys thanks, yes, it still does have tors, im going to check the wires again carefully one more time
  8. i am really thinking a loose wire, because it ran fine 10 minutes before i took off a carb...what wires could be in that area or would affect something like that?
  9. hey guys i really need some help with what im guessing is an ignition problem. my quad will not start. i checked the plugs, and there getting wet, but there is no spark. i grounded it on the head and checked, and held the plug to see if i could even feel anything. nothing. however, when i turn the light switch on, and kick it, the lights light up. so it cant be the magneto...anyone have any ideas?
  10. why do you say boost bottles do nothing?
  11. :update: i got new plugs and there still is no f!cking spark!! wtf...why would spark stop after removing a carb???
  12. because the goody good rich town where i live thinks they are loud, annoying, and polluting.
  13. ok, yeah im sorry about that. ok its a 98, cool head, boost bottle, (stock) twin carbs, jetted, reeds, dg pipes and silenecers, stock air filter. i only took off the main carb, the one with the choke. when i took the bottom peice off, where the floats are, and where the jet is, gas came pouring out of that. im not stupid, i turned off the gas line so it wasnt coming from the tank. after dumping the gas out of the carb, i put it back on, and figured if they were both that flooded, at least emptying one would be enough to make a difference. so i put it back on, and started kicking. nothing. so the first thing you check are gas, which i knew i was getting, so i pulled the plugs, and kicked it over. no spark.
  14. hey guys, well im selling my shee this weekend probably i cant ride here legally anymore, they made quads illegal...but heres the deal. the quad has been sitting for about a month without being started. so i go to start it today, it kicks over, but it wont increase rpm's above idle. when i give it gas, it just bogs and blows a ton of blue smoke. thinking it was flooded, i took the carb off, and gas poured out all over. it was flooded. so i put it back on, go to kick it over, and it wont start. i pulled the plugs and checked, and i have no spark on either. both are extremely black, with no bare metal for spark travel. also, the tops are corroded a bit. im about to leave to go get new plugs, but here is my question. why would it run earlier, but not now? all i did was unhook the carb from the airbox and engine, and took the bottom part off where the floats are.
  15. oh man, i f*cked it up this time...wel i did my axle bearings the other day, and the axle just wasnt coming out with wood and a hammer, the wood kept splitting and going right aorund the axle cause it was too soft. so i put the nut back on the axle, and put a socked arond the nut and just started wacking that. the axle came out allright, but not before i mashed up all the threads on the axle, and actully bent the small little "shaft" where the threads are. so i figured id take the other nut off, and maybe threading that on would re-cut the threads on the chewed up side. well, with my luck, the cotter pin absouluty would not come out. so, after trying everything to get the pin out, i just went ahead and cut it down far, and just torqued that nut off. yeah the nut eventully came off, taking off all the theads on that side too. reading this you may be like what an idiot that kid is, but i really do know what im doing, i was working with my friends dad whose a supervisor at mercedes benz service department. haha were not idiots, just some people with bad luck...but back to the axle, can it be saved? im going to bring it into school tommrrow and see if my metals teacher can salvage it. if it cant be saved, whats a good axle to get as a replacement and how much $ is it?
