  1. I would definately bore it 1 size and replace piston and rings. It is going to get worse and ruin the piston rings fast so you might as well do it now.
  2. Raising the compression will help w/bottom end by milling the head, or go with a head w/interchangeable domes. The cheapest way is to lower the front sprocket a gear or raising the rear 2-3 teeth. Cheaper to change the front.
  3. There are alot of good porting guy's, passionre comes to mind and Eric Gorr which I have met with and does a great job. You can pm jim (passionre) or check out ericgorr.com.
  4. Hey Mrmatt, if for some reason the trip doesn't work out for boon, fixitrod, and I could I hitch a ride? We can take my trailer and I'll be more than happy to help with the gas and driving. Just trying to keep my options open like we talked about. By the way, it was good to meet you and the wife, that girl can ride better than I can, which isn't really saying much but it was cool to see both of you riding together. That dragstrip was fun, I like to watch you guy's go at it.
  5. Most aftermarket pipes are thinner wall so when the airwaves hit it it makes a pinging sound.
  6. My friend has cascade clamps on his CPI's.
  7. Probably have to use some force, just be carefull not to damage them, use a good quality packing and don't wrap it too tight! Use some masking tape to keep it together while putting it back in, it will burn off eventually.
  8. $200-300 at TCS, they rebuilt my shocks, replaced my springs (too stiff) and revalved for me and it was about $300, so I imagine yours will be cheaper than that.
  9. If I remember right it is the black w/white stripe wire, but it has been awhile.
  10. I only have a 6'9"W/12'L trailer so the only way to get them all on is to take a couple of tires off, no big deal but it's open. I don't have access to a large enclosed. I am willing to listen to any ideas to get us out there. I rode with Mrmatt today at the badlands in Indiana, and he said he wants to go, maybe he has a trailer to use. He didn't have one with him today though. By the way, his wife can ride too! Man I wish I had a woman that wanted to ride........Hell,I wish I had a woman!
  11. I have a taperd carrier in a RPM honda style adjustment swingarm and have no problems. The only difference is the type of bearings used in the carrier. There are single/twin row or double/ and tapered, I don't think the type of bearing has anything to do with adjustment.
  12. Crank case upper:7.2ft.lb. lower:18ft.lb., covers:5.1ft.lb., clutchsprings:7.2ft.lb, Clutch boss:65ft.lb. That is from the service manual not from my head so it's right!!
  13. If you go with the lid like julden said, put at least 10-12 in there and it will run like a RAPED APE!
  14. I change mine about every 20 hrs.+ or -. Use a good oil that is made for trans in a 2-stroke. I like REDLINE LIGHTWEIGHT SHOCK PROOF gear oil myself but any good trans oil is OK.
  15. I would go to a 300 main with the K&N dual setup and maybe go to a 27.5 pilot to account for the airflow. Like any jetting issue, you have to dial it in for your bike!
  16. I still have my stock ones if you are interested but you can go to toomey.com and order them I'm sure.
  17. I think you will find that you need to just slip the clutch alot on a banshee for MX. I have been racing for years on a banshee and that is the only thing that works for me, just gives you arm pump more!
  18. Not much electrical, just the wires on the stock carb tops, but you do have to drill a hole in the sides of the carbs for the idle screw. It's not bad and they give you directions on how to do it. I did mine a couple of years ago and am very happy with it. Makes it easy to take off to adjust jetting and looks much cleaner. Pay attention to the instructions carefully and you will be fine.
  19. If you want more low -end I suggest you have it ported for that purpose. Most good porter's ask what you want more low, mid, top, etc. I am happy with Eric Gorr but I think Jim (passionre) is very knowledgeable about this also. A milled head will help too. About .0030 off the cylinders will do wonders and it's only about $30-50.
  20. Toomey needles are longer than stock, I think it keeps it from coming all the way out of the hole so less chance of it sticking at Wide Open Throttle.
  21. For anyone looking for banshee frame paint I finally found my old bottle (like small auto touch up) the part # is PNT-12000-TO-35 and I got it from my dealer about 3 yrs. ago so they should still have it.
  22. Well I think I have changed my mind! I saw that it was supposed to be around 40 and I'm dying to get out and ride! I tell you what Mrmatt, you tell me when you plan on getting there and I'll meet you there. I think a friend or 2 might go also. Anybody else want to go????
  23. Sorry efward! Glad you're on our side, scared me for a moment!
  24. Oil both and use both. Don't go nuts on the oiling, I dip mine in a no-toil bucket of oil, wring them out as good as I can and let sit a few days. I always have a spare kept clean.
  25. I would go up 2 sizes on the main and maybe a notch down on the needle(raise needle). The stock pilot might be OK but my similar setup likes a larger pilot.
