Hey rod, I have had some bad experiences with the 10" rims, if you jump much or get a lot of air they will flatspot the rim bead cause there isn't alot of sidewall to absorb the landing. I like the 8" rim, haven't flatspotted them yet. My paddles are 20-10-8 8 paddle haulers and really like them.

Way to keep the spirit alive boon!!! -
This guy is experienced and a professional but, WHAT THE F CK WAS HE THINKING?

Man, all this shit really pisses me off! I don't have kids but wish I did, I'm the one that takes my friends littleones out so they can see what quads/dirtbikes are all about. I love teaching them about how to ride. I never ride without all my gear (except chest protector, and that's worn 95%) just to show them it is cool to ride with gear. These parents are the ones to blame, where were they? Any kid under 16 should be supervised and should not have access to a atv if the parents are not around! I have done some stupid shit when I was young (and still do) but I always wear my gear and I know my limits, sometimes I push them a little but I've been riding since I was 5 ( I'm 31 now). Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Thanks wallrat! Let's keep this between you and I!

Do you have pipes, do you go big on jumps? I had mine powdercoated and I ground off the tabs for the rubber pipe bumpers in front of the engine (lower frame) and the headlight tabs, I also reinforced the frame in about 10 places. Rear shock mount, A-arm mounts, steering head (loop), and one at the steering stop. Of course you might want to keep the light mounts but I never ride at night.

Sorry but that's the only way, not an easy 10min job, you might as well replace them all while you are in there though. I like to fix it once and not piss withit again!

Help..the Banshee Wont Start!

Did you check to see if fuel came out of the hose at the carbs? If it does then you have something clogged in the carb. Is your float set right? All I can think of now. -
The cheapest and most needed mod is the water pump impellar, It will keep it running cooler and that is more consistent HP. The head is another good one but what about suspension? If it's stock you will notice a big difference in a set of good shocks, or a new axle that is wider or A-arms.

Mine is pretty boring too but the S is for Steve and poin is for my last name (which I am not about to tell you guys cuz I'll never here the end of it) and 39 has been my AMA motocross, hillclimb, and sportbike race number for the last 14 yrs. I will give you a hint on the last name, it was someone's name on a comedy about fraternity's.

Hey papa smurf, don't let them talk you out of a R6, it's a good bike and one of the best handling bikes out there, just not alot of power. I know my ZX-9 isn't gonna beat a Busa but that is all I have been beat by, oh, and a guy on a R1 with alot of mods. I only have a Muzzy full system, power commander, jetted with a K&N. It's definately not the best handling bike on the track but in a straightline a ZX-9 is still plenty fast enough to keep up with most any other bike out there, I just get beat in the turns cause it's a pig compared to the newer bikes. Kinda like the Busa, great in a straight line but not the best for handling.

What premix oil do you use and at what ratio?
-
Did it foul out? If it did I would say crank seal, did you switch premix or gas brand or type? All I can think of with the info you gave.

Toomey designed the pipes for a stock engine, that doesn't mean they don't work well with a modded engine. I had T-5's for about 4-5 yrs. and switched to T6's and could feel a difference. They have a little more pull in the bottom and midrange than the T-5's and have the same top-end power toomey is famous for. If you want the T-6's go for it! They are a great pipe for stock and modded engines!

Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?

I just got off the phone to Budget and if we decided to rent a truck it would be cheaper to rent each way. Pick up near my house, drive there, drop off, pick up a different truck and come back. Don't know why that is but it's cheaper if this sounds like a good idea. I'm just trying to weigh our options, $2200 + taxes so around $2450. I think we would be better off driving our own and splitting gas, I told fixitrod I could unhook his speedo so the miles don't show. My trailer is 6'10" W and 12'6" long and handles 3500lbs. It's fairly new so it's no problem taking it plus it has 15" tires so it pulls good. Any more ideas boon, rod? I'll even spring for a bunch of stuff for food and snacks that we can take in a cooler so it doesn't cost so much. -

Don't give up BOON! I know some of the details are going to be kind of rough but we can make it! How many more times are we going to get a chance to go and meet this many people from our site? Hey, I just thought of something, I wonder how much it would cost to rent a U-haul (20ft) and then we could take a car so the quads could be inside and locked plus we could have the car in case of problems and so we would have more room. I'll call to find out. -
You still have the airscrews, the tors just eliminates the idle on top. Now your idle should be on the right side of the right carb and left side of the left carb and the airscrew is on the left side of both carbs. It's the smaller one. Should be about 2-4 turns out, if turning it out makes it run better and your at 4 turns you need to go up a size on the pilot.

I use wenol to soften it up and use my fingernail to get the bigger pieces off so it doesn't hurt the chrome.

Yes! Just make sure they are setup for your weight and riding style and you'll be set. Don't buy them off the shelf! Mine has held up great, I'm not a pro but my local track has some 65-80ft doubles, a 90ft ski-jump and a 70 step-up that throws you about 16ft and mine works great. Only time it bottoms is if I overjump or case it. I think works gets a bad rep cause some people just order a set and don't have them valved for their kind of riding.

Well I just got off the phone w/fixitrod and we are going to do all we can to make it w/boonman! We got a trailer and all but are going to be on a budget, so we need a little help in the sleeping department (not that we will be doing alot of that). Anyone that can help us out so we can make the cross country trip? Let one of us know so we can keep planning an awesome trip to meet/ride with some of you, I can't f''ing wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I hope this guy didn't replace his pistons everytime he ran out of gas!

Make sure you "file fit" your ring gaps to make sure you have the best seal.
