  1. It all depends on you, can you ride? In the woods it's about 85% rider!
  2. One thing nobody talked about was how to support riding areas. One of the best ways is to belong to the ATVA, OHVCC, and my favorite the AMA. Anyone that has a dirtbike, ATV, streetbike should belong to the AMA. Dues are only like $40 a year and you can race all kinds of events if you want, since most require a membership. Write your congressman, E-mail them, show that you are against closing riding areas to the general public, after all why do we preserve it if we can't enjoy it?
  3. Tires definately! Go with 22" on the back and a 22-23" on the front, works great in the woods. Also a steering stabilizer, a drinking system is nice and make sure you go through the quad good and locktite it all. You can't win a Hare or a GNCC if you don't finish! OH, make sure those tires are a 6 ply so less chance of flats.
  4. They might give you more power but not much in top speed. You need to change the gearing for much of a gain there. What do you need top speed for? Quickness is more useable than top speed 95% of the time unless you are desert racing.
  5. Porting and mill the head would be the most noticeable mods after the pipes.
  6. Replace the shift rod and spring, mine sticks in between gears sometimes and the shifter is the culprit for me.
  7. Actually -1 swingarm and a +1 forward A-arms is the best. Of course the A-arm would be a +2 or +3 wide also.
  8. Man, I read every post in the topic and have to put my 2cents in. I have ridden several 450's and like them, I have also raced several 450's and beat them. We race on a flat field about 260ft and I have never been beat by a yfz. I admit I have mods but some of them had high comp pistons and pipes. The only 4-stroke that gave me a run was a DS 650 with a Ron Woods engine kit. That sonofabitch was fast! Dollar for dollar, mod for mod, a shee will win if both good riders. Stock vs stock the 450 will win.
  9. blck02ban, I race the Ironman every year, it is awesome, the most demanding track on the circuit. I plan to go to Texas for the opener in a few weeks, I hope i'm not too out of shape. Come to the Ironman this year, you will love it, big time partying!
  10. What do youmean, won't start, can't even move kickstarter?
  11. If they can't I would go up a size on the main and richen the needle a bit by using a "half clip washer". If you don't have one you can find them at the dealer. Just put it under the clip so it raises it slightly.
  12. Maybe time to repack your silencers. One might have a little more oil saturated then the other.
  13. The steel finish in my opinion looks cheap, there is a right and left silencer and stinger (tube from silencer to pipe). They are marked so just put a little high temp silicone on them and screw together. Or if you have some gasket material you can make one instead of silicone.
  14. I run the old style V-force and like them, but I am not sure it would be a noticeable enough of a increase in power for the money. I would stay if you are happy with them.
  15. I would check the exhaust flange to be sure there isn't a nick or scrape on it to prevent from leaking.
  16. Modify the stockers to fit. Cheap and easy.
  17. They're a good pipe, a buddy has them and he is only about a quad length behind me. It won't give you much more top speed because that is gearing but will get there alot quicker!
  18. No offense to Klotz but I have heard they are a very good pipe. If you like them buy'em!
  19. Envious of the TOOMEY sound are we?!
  20. There are several different rates of springs, i am not sure of the poundage of each but when I sent them to TCS they said the springs were too stiff for my application. Stock works springs on mine were blue and white now moroon and black. I know $300 sounds like alot but they totally redid the shocks including springs and mine are triple rates. I was happy with my investment and TCS said if I wasn't happy send them back and they would readjust the settings for free! I'm sure works can do this to, just telling you my experience.
  21. Check out eyeball engineering, I am very happy with my a-arms from them and not overly priced.
  22. Mine was around $350, he remembered me from a long time ago when I raced motox but I think he would give you the same price (eric gorr).
  23. Boon, Fixitrod, we need to start coordinating on this. I am about 90% I can go, and you know what size trailer I have. I was also told I might be able to take a 20' car trailer so 4 quads would be easy! Mrmatt, we need to go riding together more often, You will be climbing those hills real quick. It's easy on a banshee......JUST POINT AND SHOOT! Duece, I hope you have a very understanding wife! I'll pitch in some coin for the services if we make it.
  24. You guys are some sick, perverted, dirty minded, horny ass freaks!.............My kind of people!
  25. There are several classes to pick from. I race 2 stroke B but there are C and A classes also. I only race about 4 GNCC's a year so I stick with a class I can be compettitve in. I've gotten a 3rd, 7th, 8th, 11th and a 17th this past year. There are open classes, vet, first year racer witch is what you would want to start out in. The first year class is open to all, 2and4 stroke. After the first year go to 2 stroke C, then B then A if you feel you are up to it. It is a dead engine start wich usually favors electric start but I got the holeshot at a 2 races this year so anyone can do it. Pace yourself after the first few miles. The first few miles are all out to try to pass as many riders as you can before the woods gets too tight. It's hard to pass in the woods so choose your lines well. Pace, staying relaxed, and being smart about the lines you choose are the most critical. Also having a buddy to do a pitstop for you (gas, goggles, gloves, and tire if flat) helps out. Go for it! It's a blast!
