does it sound like a lifter tick sort of? Or one of those desk ball thingy's that have like 5 balls attached to strings and you lift the one and it transfers the energy blah blah blah..... If it is, I've had the same noise through 2 top end rebuilds now, and its something I just learned to live with. I'm tearing the engine down completely for my stroker crank and gonna see if it goes away. I'm guessing its a crank bearing just being a little noisy. I thought it was something with the stator too, it was definitely noisier when I took the cover off. Pulled the stator, put an adjustable plate on, made sure nothing was rubbing, and it was still making the noise afterward. Run it till it breaks....thats my philosophy when you cant find where its coming from...

like they said, get a balljoing from a 72 vw bug and you should be good to go. post a pic of your a-arms up, we might be able to tell you who made them

the rubber is there for a reason. I ran solid hangers for a while and it vibrated my bike apart. The seal on your exhaust port is meant to flex....thats why its just held with springs, and your pipes arent bolted to your engine. The rubber is there to keep the vibration from running through the frame as much as possible. For some reason, the farther it gets into the pipe, the more it reverberates, kind of like a shockwave spreading out I assume. When I ran the hangers it started vibrating bolts loose all over my banshee. I actually called the yamaha dealer asking for torque specs on the bolts that vibrated loose (its been a while now, forget which bolts exactly but it was bolts that went into the frame), I torqued them back and they'd vibrate loose again. I eventually went back to stock hangers. Someone on here was making ones with springs that looked really nice. Cotton Eye Joe? If you're running solid hangers, I'd go over all of your bolts a lot more often and check for them being loose. Personally....I'd advise against it

Are both the holes the same size? It's definitely a lean/detonation problem you are having. If both pistons have holes, chances are you have 2 air leaks, or your fuel is bad/low octane? Isnt it hard to get holes in both pistons from just one air leak somewhere? The crank bearings kinds keep the cylinder flow separate dont they?

Finally got my new computer and editing software to get some of my footage up on here. Wish I had somewhere that would give me good quality and allow more than 25mb at a shot. youtube gives me 100mb, but they compress the crap out of it, so I'm putting them on putfile, but can only do 45 second clips :: Anyway....they are in the video section, check them out. I'll be adding more as I sort through my footage

go with a nac's bead breaker and get 2 decent tire irons. It'll work as good as any machine you buy. It's completely portable and takes up no room whatsoever. I cant count how many times I've changed tires out on the road with it. From changing tires out, to getting a big tear in your sidewall that you have to patch, its a great tool to have on hand and worth every penny and then some. What you gonna do the next time you're out riding and need to patch something, or you only have one set of rims and wanna change tires, or anything you could think of that you gotta pull the tire off the rim? and go with the Nac's one, the other one's are pieces of junk that you see on ebay
-
I didnt really mean to say that they are junk, they are definitely a good vehicle. What I was trying to say is that they arent worth the money for a new one in stock trim when you can buy one with aftermarket for the same price. Let me put it in banshee terms. Would you rather buy a stock 2005 banshee thats been ridden around on the road and maybe the drivetrain was beaten on a little bit, or buy a 98 banshee that has a-arms, shocks, rims, tires, pipes, and all sorts of other aftermarket goodies for the same price? It's only a couple hundred bucks to redo the engine, then you have the thousands of dollars in aftermarket already on it.
-
if the engine makes any noise whatsoever, stay away. Definitely go with the 6 cylinder. The rod bearings are weak in some of the engines (good ol quality metal they use these days), and if it was beat on the head can warp on them as well so look for any oil coming from the head. My best friend works for Jeff Daniels jeep, and in his professional opinion, stock jeeps are pieces of junk. Then again so are most vehicles. They are basically the same vehicles since they switched over from the front leaf spring, so you might want to look into getting one that has a lot of aftermarket on it like lift, AXLES, lockers, tires, etc. It might've been beat on a little bit, but a new drivetrain is relatively cheap compared to the money you could spend putting into aftermarket. Dont know how much you plan to offroad with it, but thats definitely the direction I'd go. Jeeps are kind of like banshees, I'd never buy a stock one again. Even if its got stuff on it I dont like, the parts are worth more than the stock stuff on it. Go with the stick, the switch on the automatics that lets it know that is in neutral or park to start it goes bad, and it'll start not letting you start it in park, and you gotta put it in neutral, and then eventually that doesnt work anymore and you gotta pay 250-300 bucks for a new one. If you're really into the dash, worst case scenario, you could buy one and swap it out.

What he said, and you might want to think about using a pro design foam filter instead of a K&N. I've always had a lot of problem with the K&N's in the mud. I do a ton of mud riding and have had mud water in the intake tract quite a few times with a K&N, and have never had it once with the foam.

does that adapter hook into your computer?

. replied to highroller355's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I know theres a couple hose/line shops around here. Look in your phonebook for hydraulic stuff, they can make you one on the spot pretty quickly. -
sony trv-330 Great camera that was THE camera about 8 years ago. Only better camcorder out there was one that came with a half inch bigger screen. After that it was professional camera's that cost like 2500 You should be able to pick one up nowadays for 300 or so

were the best place to put my bong in the banshee
. replied to jack24piper's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
not going to get into the whole situation but I used to smoke about 6-7 years ago and quit because of my job. If I hit someone while on it, and kill them, its automatic manslaughter, no matter who was at fault. I see nothing wrong with it. I'd love to be able to come home from a hard days work beating the shit out of my body and relax to a nice joint sometimes. It'll make aching joints and muscles relax better than a lot of muscle relaxers will. Thats why they give it to people with MS. It kills the pain better than all that govt bullshit. and you're an idiot if you think these are the reasons why they dont legalize it The reason they don't make it legal is because of a few reasons. 1. No easy way to tell if someone is stoned, like a breathalizer for alky. Red Eyes and laughing could mean anything.... 2. No way to regulate it's potency easily. It's a plant...period. Alky has a certain percentage of alky in it...regulated, and controlled by the government. 3. Tax...the US Gov't would make so much money of legalizing it it's not even funny.... First off, they could easily develop a device to test for pot, they're already doing it in cars for the breathalizers. They could regulate the potency on it. go to amsterdam sometime they do it over there all day long. A good buddy of mine was a mad scientist splicing together different plants to create some pretty amazing strands of plants. Yeah, if they legalized it, they could tax it and the GOVT would get a ton of money. Or.....they could keep it illegal and the PEOPLE in the govt. can continue to line their pockets from people that are being allowed to slip under the radar, and also these big pharmaceutical companies, I'm sure they dont have any power and arent giving the whole nudge nudge. About 13 years ago, My uncle and I traveled around the country for a summer. We were camping in Colorado and went hiking. I was 14 at the time and never really saw a pot plant and what I did see, didnt amount to what I now know they can potentially grow to. We were hiking and somehow walked upon this weed field of 8-10 ft high plants and it looked to be almost the size of a small cornfield. We made the decision to get out of there before we got shot. But you cant tell me a weed field that big would go unnoticed by local authorities? Yeah sure, every politician and cop is straight as an arrow. Sure, it may slow your reaction down a little bit and being stoned off your ass riding is just plain stupid. But their is a difference between someone that smokes a couple times in their life, and someone that smokes all the time. If I would smoke now, I'd be nervous to walk down a flight of steps let alone ride my shee. I havent smoked in a good 5 years or so. But when you smoke all the time, you build a tolerance to the effects of it. Whats cool about pot though is that medicinally, it'll still help out those joints and muscles, If you say you smoked pot and your against someone smoking a joint or two while out riding somewhere, then you never really smoked pot. Now if that person gives it to their buddy who never smoked, while out riding, I'm totally against that. If you're a true pothead, you cant ever really get too stoned, where as if your a drunk, you can still end up face down in a ditch somewhere. Thats the difference, any way you look at it. Oh....and by the way....you're a fucking idiot for wanting to bring a bong out riding. You just made the statement to get some attention....and thank fucking god this thread turned and now has nothing to do with your question, and how much of an idiot you are -
I actually despise the holeshots and razr's. Every pair I've ever had on a 2stroke, as soon as you wear the edges away on the tread, they just want to spin after that. They hook o.k., but dont give the hook that I desire. I'm sure if I go to a - swingarm it'll help me out, but it just seems the more add on's to the motor I do, the more they just want to spin. I do a lot of different kind of riding, from hardpack dirt, to loose dirt, to sand, to coal silt and I've come down to 2 different tires that will get the job done. If I know what I'm getting into and will get away with I go with my mudsharks. They've hooked from day one on every imaginable surface, muddy clay hills, wet rocks, you name it, they are a great tire. They are a softer rubber so they dont last incredibly long, but they arent very expensive and well worth it. Now If I'm gonna get into some deep mud, or snow riding, or softer sand, or have no clue what I'm going to come across out there, there's only one tire.....and sadly, they dont make it anymore The Realtor. You pretty much wont find a better tire out there that will take anything you can throw at it. Sure there are better tires for suited terrains, but this tire will get you through it all. If you can find a set, grab them up. I run mine on beadlocks with 0 air pressure, just a tap of air to give them a little cushion. I've got 3 extra sets that are brand new that I dont think I'd part with for 200 bucks a pair.

that thing is completely original, thats why its going for so much. I know a guy who has 15 or so trx250R's sitting in crates from the honda factory that he wont touch. He says he wont sell them until he is on his death bed and then give the money to his children On the other hand, my one good friend came across a atc250R that the guy bought it and first time out riding it crashed it into a tree and hurt his back. It sat in a barn for the next 20 years. He got it for 500 bucks and all it needed was a headlight (casing was cracked), and a front fork. He rebuilt the engine because of how long it was sitting (hone and piston), but it probably would've started if we tried but we didnt want to scratch the cylinder. I've tried to buy it off him twice now. 1st time was for 3 grand, and the second was for 2 grand and my one banshee. He just cant seem to part with the thing. It's still mint as can be, except for the pipe and bigger carburetor he put on it. We rip it around on the street for the fun of it sometimes with a spare set of tires on it

Just got my new computer today, came a heck of a lot quicker than I thought it would considering I got it through my safety program at work. It's a xp media center edition so I'll be able to put all my cam footage and such on here easier and get it out to you guys. (If I can somehow find the time nowadays). We get safety points for not getting in any accidents or injured at my work. You can go to www.awsafety.com to see some of the stuff we can get just for being safe Anyway, here's the basics of what I got for the computer: Dimension E520 desktop has Pentium D dual coare - 2.6 GHz processor, 512MB memory, 160GB hard drive, 3.5" floppy drive, 56K modem, integrated NIC, 16x DVD+/-RW drive, and integrated Intel graphics media accelator. Comes with 19 inch Flat Panel Monitor, keyboard, mouse, stereo speakers, and color all-in-one printer. Operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition. MS Worksuite 2006 bundledwith Paint shop photo album, Adobe Acrobat reader and other software. Comes with 3 year warranty Not a bad system for being safe for a couple months, about 7 or 8 to be exact.

there's a metal artisan near me that does some cool shit, I was going to take my set to him and have him make a wall piece out of them to hang in my bar.

after a while you'll learn to ride different when you have the helmet camera on. Sometimes you forget and things get a little shaky, but for the most part, if you can stay with your butt off the seat when you're riding through rough stuff, it'll keep things pretty smooth. I have a ton of helmet camera footage from Hatfield-McCoy that I'm going to be editing in the next couple days now that I just got my new computer today. I'll get some good footage up for you guys. It's a killer place to ride.

I'm in the middle of upgrading my computer, well, getting a new one actually. The computer I'm getting is geared toward media, so I'll be able to do a lot of editing of my tape. Right now I have a philips or panasonic dvd recorder. It's got a firewire connection on the front of it and I just plug my camera right into it and press record. The recorder was only 150 bucks and for the most part its nice to have the whole footage on tape. The recorder has a little bit of editing, like you can take out from this part to this part, or you can add chapter titles in wherever you want to skip around like if have sitting at basecamp, going out to the trail, gnarly hillclimb, jimmy breaks his fingernail trying to pop his chain back on cause he's an idiot and didnt tighten it to much, etc etc. good luck with it, my advice is to not use a fanny pack, they are a pain in the ass. Get a backpack that has a waist strap and a chest strap. Mine is an Ironman pack and it came with little ear headphones that wind from in the backpack up through the shoulder straps and came out of the shoulder straps for your ears. I pulled the headphones and stuck the microphone, lan remote, and camera through the straps and everything is attached to the backpack except the camera. If I want to take it off, I just unvelcro the helmet cam and its off. Make sure you get the Lan remote. It's kind of expensive, but it makes things so much nicer to turn the camera off and on, know when you're running out of tape, and when your battery is dying. Believe me, its a pain in the ass if you dont have one

havent ridden in a while due to needing a crank and priorities, but its funny how many people live right around me here. I grew up in sellersville, rode the roads a lot up in Tylersport, and now I'm living in the very center of lansdale. you could throw a rock from my front porch and hit main and broad. Hoping to get the shee back together shortly as soon as I sell some of my aftermarket parts I got laying around to buy my stroker crank. Where you live in Souderton? If you have allied waste/BFI I probably pick up your recycling. If you see a big white recycle truck driving around....thats me. Let me know where you live and I can tell you exactly what time I'm around your way. I see you have a LRD symbol next to your name barrymaxx. You running an LRD setup? Thats what I run on both my shees. I got my second shee and it had FMF on it and I just couldnt stand the way the pipe reacts. Cant beat LRD in the woods. Hey Fox Farma, are you part of that whole Southampton Trash contract with JP Mascaro? Dont know if you know about the situation at all, but we won the contract (30,000 homes and a ton of commercial pickups) We were all set to go with it, and JP Mascaro found a loophole in the contract and sued Southampton and ended up getting the contract back for the time being. I know of a few people that live in that area, and they are under the impression that we have the contract, and JP Mascaro has been slipping lately with picking the trash up, and its coming back on us. The whole situation sucks all around, we had to fire a bunch of guys right before christmas. Some who had quit their jobs of 10-15 years, worked for us for 2-3 weeks, and now are out of a job. We hired back as many as we could, but it still hurt some people. As far as riding goes, its few and far between anywhere around here. Closest place we find to go ride that we can make a day of it is up in hazleton area outside of 8bee's. There's tons of riding up there and sounds like a few of you guys are from different areas up there. If you guys know free places to ride that arent completely torn up like Tower City, we should hook up and ride sometime. I need a couple good places to go. I'm gonna have my shee up again after about a year and half and I'm gonna need to get some seat time in. Especially that now it'll have like 20 more hp or so. We go down to Hatfield-McCoy every year and its amazing down there. We should all plan to go down there. It's basically the glamis of woods riding. It's hard to ride in big groups because of dust kicking up and people will have problems here and there. We like to keep it to groups of 3 or 4 riding, but we could definitely all head down there, and go out in different groups and then all hang together in the evenings and such. Some of the best times of my life.

good choice to go with the 480 line resolution cam. The 380 is alright, but even on a regular size tv you can notice the picture quality a little bit (not a lot but its still there) I've got a 60 inch HD TV and the picture is still pretty darn good with my 480 line cam. My buddy has the 380 and when we go from his video to mine, its quite noticeable.

how the heck could sony be losing 300 dollars per console. So your saying it costs sony 900 dollars to make a mass produced console and get it shipped to a U.S. store? Only thing I heard about sony that right now they are losing money is basically there was a part that is made by a different company that is in these consoles that was built wrong....and its causing the systems to lock up. Thats why there were so little of them around at christmas. They could basically just stop selling the PS3 and give up on it. And pay for the losses they accrued with the sales of PS2, PSP, and PS1 stuff and still stay in business. Sony is so multidimensional that a little PS3 system isnt going to put them under......hell....1.5 billion in battery recalls is barely a dent.....they've got ceo's making that in bonuses basically
-
I got one too.....gotta go get a good look at it but its off an engine a dude hit a stump and put a hole in the bottom case....top one should be perfect Let me know if interested and I'll go dig the engine out of the container its in
-
I've got a brand new black seat cover....never used it, was gonna recover an extra seat I have but never got around to it (the foam was a little ratty)
-
well damn....you ripped somebody off.....let me guess....its to the person in argentina......I wouldnt send it until the bank clears the money they sent you I can get a new one at the local hobby store for a hell of a lot less than that
