  1. May never know the real number of dead. There were a lot of people living under the radar in NO. Maybe a year from now when they can start to compare tax, social security, and welfare records of the past to what will be new, will be some indication. I'm guessing the gators will be well feed for a long time.
  2. I've got all three sizes, there the same length, just different hole diameter.
  3. The thing these people need to worry about, is getting out of there. Disease's are around the corner.Clean up on this isn't gonna be like some rain storm, it will take a long time, all the while, there will be bodies rotting and sewage seeping into everything. More are likely to die from this, then the storm it'self.
  4. I know what your saying about those that didn't leave NO before the storm hit, but there are those that had no way to get out. I'm guessing about 5% of the population, the rest were idiots. The last time a hurricane was gonna hit, they made the comments about how NO was vulnerable, they knew this storm was larger, they should have ran.
  5. soak them down with water inside and out, put them on and mow the yard, that will break them in
  6. I ride mostly single trac instead of motocross, but I don't mind wearing knee protection along with helmet, chest protector, boots, + gloves. My next purchase may even be elbow protection. Seems like a lot, but as I'm getting older, I can't afford to be hurt, but have no intention of slowing down on the fun vehicles. You'll get used to the power, nice bike.
  7. Not really much difference between them, same carb, just that the 33 is drilled offset compared to the 35. When I ordered mine, I wanted a 35, got a 33. Didn't feel it worth the hassle to send back, never regretted it. The 33 works perfect on mine. You will love the ease of jetting/working on the carb. Once dialed in, I never touched it, it just works great.
  8. Chain adjustment on the Outlaw has got to be better then that of the stock Banshee! At this point no-one knows much on this machine. This could work out to be something great for sport/trail riders. Polaris is doing it without adding too much weight. Supposably, not much more in cost either. Gotta give them credit for trying to make improvements, Yamaha refused to do anything with the Banshee besides different colors. Can you imagine if Yamaha would have changed a few things such as chain adjustment or carbs/fuel injection????
  9. Living in Cali, I don't think so. Besides that, if what you have is like in the pic, you will need a milled receiver, very expensive. You could build it with a stamped receiver but will need more parts. Check out this SITE As for needing an assualt rifle, if you have to ask about needing one, you wouldn't understand if explained
  10. All the movie review pundits claim it's bad, so it must be good!
  11. Alot of guys are running a 45 pilot, mine always wanted to be leaner with the stock carbs, and am no different with 2 into 1. Hot and humid weather, I'm at 42 pilot@500-1000 elevation.
  12. "How much does Boonman charge?" Thats usually between him and you.
  13. Kawasaki is said to be dropping the KX125 from it's line up this year. Go to a MX race. The AMA has put so many resrtictions on fuel and displacement, that 2 strokes can't hardly compete. Most bikes out there are 4st on the track. When you look at the off-road lineup(non-motocross) at the stealerships, it's nothing but 4st. The big bike makers are giving in to the EPA, unless they are secretly working on a fuel injection that might be able to revive 2st. I know some of the boat manufactures have been able to make headways, but the mapping is much harder for a bike with 2st motor where you expect instant throttle response. I recently bought a KTM 200exc for trail riding on single track trails, even this bike is changing this next year. Won't come with a factory spark arrestor because to comply with EPA, they are now saying this bike is for "closed course use only". KTM and GAS GAS are the only ones with an extensive lineup of 2st's anymore. They blow away the japs in that catagory. Hopefully I can make both my Banshee and KTM last for a long time. Couple more years, there won't be any new ones. Hope I'm wrong.
  14. I always get the ones with solid terminal, have had trouble with the nut type.
  15. You sound like you were close on your main, but you leaned it back out for some reason??? Trust me on this, put in a 180+-main, try a 45 pilot or even a 42(that is what I'm running). If your having "burble on the low end", it's more likely your pilot. Here's a good read on jetting theories which still applies even tho you have a single carb. BenBB put a lot of effort into this. Read and read again, you will learn. Click on the "Here's"
  16. Get rid of the stock air cleaner, it's junk. Get a K&N or UNI style filter set up, jetting will be required for this change also.
  17. "can you run a different silencer with a 2into1 pipe without adverse affects?? " Read on one post that most silencers can't take the heat generated
  18. It wasn't that long ago that someone started a post on what everyong was using for jets/needle settings, do a search, you will find it. Don't mean to be a jerk, but it doesn't seem like you doing much thinking here. Your looking to blow your motor, never trust anyone selling used stuff, reseach next time. You can release the slide from the cable by pulling back on the spring and plastic collar, at the same time grab the cable and work the end out of the keeper (same to put it back on). Once slide is loose, use 6 to take off the cable retainer, needle will come out, write down what you have as a needle. Good starting point 180 main, 45 pilot, DEK needle in 3rd, air screw 1-1/2 Do a plug chop before you drive it too much, otherwise you will be wasting a nice +4 crank
  19. Stick with the pwk carb, 33 or 35. Easy to work on and easy to get needles and jets.
  20. The 4 gal.'s look better, but don't really give ya much for what it costs. If you need extra range, the 5.6 is the way to go.
  21. I've got the 5.6 tank. Only two complaints, it's ugly and stickers won't stay on (tried to dress it up). Got it on my '03 with no trouble of bars hitting the tank, can go full lock to lock turning. Later bikes seem to have taller bars. I saved my original fenders and got a race cut one to alter. The black tank does not show the fuel through the plastic. Also, radiator cover is kinda hokie on attachement, but never lost it yet. Had mine for over a year, hate running out of fuel on trail rides.
  22. Check your compression, beg, borrow, or buy a tester. Did you just buy this bike? If so, do a WOT plug chop. If your lean on the jets, that could be why your running hot(running rich can also cause excessive heat). Eventually you will need to go into the carbs to know what jets are in there. Not that hard.
  23. If it's okay now, use that as a starting point, but if not, go back to the needle position and main that was in it before as your starting point. Seeing how you just bought it, I would do a WOT plug chop to see how the main is. To many people have blown motors not knowing they are running lean. 1/8 to 1/4 throttle is likely the pilot/air screw, with the needle setting overlapping @1/4 throttle. Do a seach on what others have been running for jets for your setup, there's quite a few running 34's. I know it takes longer, but try only messing with one circuit at a time to isolate your problem. post what you have for pipes, air temps, and elevation. I have found that with the warmer weather (finally), that I've needed to go leaner, just a suggestion.
  24. Measure your bolt pattern, post it, will compare to my wife's '03 trail boss. I'm not positive, think that Polaris is pretty consistent about using parts on their machines.
