A complete guide to POOPING at work
Wallynut replied to Slammin Full Bore's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Work in a small shop. In the early morning, the boss/owner has a tendacy to use the shop can (he has a private john in the office). Don't know what the wife is feeding him, but the "invisible wall" is a killer! -
I had problems everytime I went thru water with stock carbs, especially in the spring and fall when the temps were colder. Drove me nuts. When riding with some others, we would like to switch bikes to see what each ride was like. Well I was always worried about someone getting hurt, especially me. With the single carb, never a concern. Now I don't hesitate when I see water, instead of going around water, I just aim for it! Now I only have to worry about getting stuck in the deep stuff. The question isn't "why isn't a sticking throttle a problem with a single carb", but why is it a problem with stock carbs?
-
If you trail ride, it's good. If your a dune ride, I would guess that your gonna always be looking for more power (aka top end speed), you will want to stick with dual carbs. There's always some messing with jetting till you get it where you want it. Easy to work on, less jets to buy, and no stuck throttle after going thru water!!!

Depending on the laws where you live, if you do catch them, you may want to be carefull about screwing them up. Here, in Wisconsin, you can defend yourself or loveone, but you could be in trouble for hurting them just cause they are on your property. You would have to prove that you felt an eminate threat from them. Part of the liberal society taking over here. Personally, I would like to hear that you gave them what they deserved. No tolerance for theives.

Most people who buy a VW don't work on their own car, too beneath them to get their hands dirty. But, in it's defense, there have been many other cars (especially American made) that are hard to work on. I don't trust current oil change shops (no slam to the guys that work there and try to do their best), have had nothing but trouble. Wife always took her car to one for oil changes, they stripped out the treads on the aluminum oil pan and had the balls to charge her for a new drain plug, which they just rammed in there crooked. I had to go up two sizes to get rid of the damaged threads which I could pull out with my fingers. Good thing manufacture really built up the area around that hole. BTW, if you can do it, you should, saves ya money and doesn't take that much time. Plus you know it was done right.

Your gonna lose a little going with a single carb on that 420 no matter what carb you go with. Getting a good air flow at top end is one thing, but getting a large carb to function at slow speed will likely be a problem, vice versa with a smaller carb. If money isn't a problem, give it a try, you might just be able to prove everyone wrong on this. One other thing, carb size might be limited to boot on intake manifold. If your really serious about it, I'll pull my carb and measure the boot.

Need help with my 33 pwk kehin carbs
Wallynut replied to icemanscold's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
try 16mm, 5/8" for those metrically challenged. -
Start out around 190 and 48-50pilot, should open it up and see whats inside first, you might already have a good starting point already.

After all that, now you want jetting info

help jetting a trinity 2-1 35 pkw
Wallynut replied to johnnyg1968's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I don't believe that cdi has a rev limiter like the four stokes, theres just a limit to how many rpms the engine is capable of making. The way you ask that, makes me question you if there is a problem on the top end. At the "very" top you might have some falling off of the power (ever so slightly), but if you are getting a bog or sputtering, then your either too rich or too lean on the main. -
How do you know your leaking fuel while driving in 6th gear? You would be leaking fuel at just about any gear or even just sitting still, in fact, most will only find that fuel is leaking while bike is sitting and not running becuase the float is out of adjustment or valve has an obstruction (dirt).

Pressure still good, but have over two seasons on this banshee still stock bore. At this point I just want to keep the bore at stoke size if possible. I was gonna just hone the cylinders and put in new rings, am I better off getting bored and new pistons also?

If your using your airbox, you may need to alter the mounting point @ the back of the airbox, other then that, it should be fine.

help jetting a trinity 2-1 35 pkw
Wallynut replied to johnnyg1968's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Your probably looking at a DEK, I bought a EEK and CEK. The EEK seems to be the needle of choice for most so far. Yea, it is hard to read, but it's there. I'm running a 48 pilot on mine, seems the pilot size varies for each person. Once we get some nicer temps(read more even temps), jetting should be easier. -

If you've read any of the previous posts concerning 2 into 1 setup, you will see that a good number of people have had great success changing out the needle. sredish, has mentioned www.carbparts.com, I used them and like how fast they ship and costs involved. $9-10 for a needle. If you do get a new needle, put it in at the same setting as the one your running now. I did that, and was surprised at the difference. I was having more a flat spot in the midrange, compared to you. It can be frustrating, but do you really want to go back to stock carbs? Good luck -
I think that if you are using the pro-flow with a K&N, you will need a different adaptor to run a foam filter. I don't think that UNI or others make a filter that size that you could "force" it to fit, so to speak.

You'll have to pull the carbs, just do one at a time to avoid mixing slides and such. Make sure your sync each time you work on them. You'll see little windows on one side, when carbs are about wide open, marks should show at same time.
-
I'm not real sure how much different you are gonna be, but I'm at 190main, 48pilot, eek needle-2nd clip from the top. Haven't had any time to really say the eek needle is better, weather here is still cold, but really adds to the mid range for me. I'm one to order lots of jets (both mains and pilots) so I can tune it in for different seasons since we can vary quite a bit. I'm running a 33 pwk while most have 35, not much difference if you ask me. Get all the jets you can afford, if your still having trouble, consider ordering a different needle. www.carbparts.com is a great place to deal with, fast delivery and decent prices.

Sparks coming out of the silencers can't be good.

Sorry to hear about your sister Fireman-hott, hang in there. You and your family will be in our prayers. -
When it comes to needle position, just start in the middle and work from there. As you can see from this forum, jetting can be time consuming and frustrating. Do a search for BenBB's write-up on jetting, very excellent guide to tuning your banshee. Just make sure you sync your carbs each time you mess with anything, and only mess with one thing at a time to make it easier on yourself (I know that seems backwards, but changing to many variables at a time is like throwing darts). I found that the TORS was a pain in the arse, that was the first thing to go in the garbage. Let us know how it goes, any questions, someone will help.
-
First off, your motor will be junk if your running the stock filter without the lid on it. After putting on the K&N (or any other suitable filter other then stock), you should be around 280-300 on the mains, you might need a 27.5 pilots (can only get that at a yamaha parts/dealer). If you don't already have it, get a clymer manual, great discription on how to sync your carbs and deal with the TORS if you still have it.
-
Not finding neutral is common. Your not really clear on your explaination of what is happening. Is your motor die'n cause the tranny feels locked up or is it just killing when you go to take off, like total loss of power. If the later, check your parking brake connection, that one has gotten many people. It's a safety thing, like switchs on kick stands for streetbikes. If you removed the parking brake, (if my memory is working) You might need to connect the wires. Let everyone know if your still having problem.

hesitation going through the gears
Wallynut replied to scotts96fast's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
scotts96fast, I see your here in Wisconsin, right now with the weather the way that it has been, your gonna have fun with your jetting. I'm trying to wait out the changing temps to do serious jetting myself. Who did your motor work?
