  1. ride like hell, That will be the best money spent on your quad. Not that you probably couldn't have made one if you had one in hand to reverse engineer, but without making up a cnc program, you would end up with two slightly different domes that would cause you all kinds of grief, not worth it. Noss is a great guy to work with, with a dedicated customer base (I'll bet that he wishs they would spend more on his products tho!).
  2. PB Blaster or Kroil Plan on buying a couple new parts, guess they where due for replacement.
  3. call the guys at www.carbparts.com, 216-635-1099, they should know if there is anything larger then a 230
  4. I've been wanting to get the Rockets for awhile, especially with all the good comments about them. Had PT high rev's on my old banshee, don't recommend them for trail riding, but damn are they great for drag racing!!! If you ride in really rough stuff, PT's will leave your arms sore and may leave your machine around a tree.
  5. I believe that the 4strokes use denser pack because there is more force that could blow out the packing on their exhuast stroke. Seen guys try to use 2 stroke packing, just to have it blow out right away. For 2-s, your trying to capture the noise while creating a reinforcement for the pressure wave that the expansions have created. This last part is mostly speckulation on my part. Just use the stuff made for 2 strokes and don't pack it in there too tightly.
  6. I've been running the 33pwk single carb setup (love it)but was thinking of ditching the airbox, using a foam filter with outerware clamped right to the carb. My concern is that with the current set up, I remember having to take a little material off the carb that would have been the lip to hold on a filter(so that it will go into the airbox adapter). Will I have a problem with the filter wanting to slip off? How will this set up work in wet conditions since I mostly trail ride rain or shine. Was considering doing this since my current K&N is needing to be replace.
  7. Go with Noss's. Great to deal with, and he will answer all questions.
  8. Putting any pipe on a stock machine will make a difference, wakes it up. The rockets, from what I've been reading, is THE pipes to buy. Whatever you decide on, remember to rejet. If you haven't already done it, get a different air filter, stock setup sucks.
  9. You and your buddy need to grow up and be more responsible. If you haven't noticed, most haven't agreed with you. Getting caught speeding on the trails is one thing, riding where your not supposed to, ruins it for all.
  10. On my 33pwk, I'm running 180main, 45pilot (i think), and needle is 2nd from the top. I'm between 50-900' in elevation, lid on K&N filter, FMF pipes. When first jetting mine, I had a rough time, kept changing mains with no good results. It wasn't till I got the needle in a better spot that I could even get mains figured out(couldn't even get her opened up to do a plug chop). Sounds assbackwards, but the truth. Ended up using the main that came with the kit. You'll like this setup if you do woods riding
  11. I had a good laugh when I stopped at a road, there were two DNR guys (cops)busting people for not making complete stops. They looked at my banshee, covered with mud, and asked if i was riding some kind of homemade atv. Guess they don't see may banshee's, much less ones with 5.6gal tanks on them. I don't like the looks, but hate hauling gas/oil on the grab bar or a backpack. Can go farther then others in my group with 4strokes, and if they run out, they aren't gonna ask for any of my gas!!! One thing that I've been looking for is graphics, but can't find anything that looks good. Anyone with suggestions for a black tank and red radiator???
  12. Is that the whole set up? Intake, carb, airbox adaptor, throttle cable? Any pic you can e-mail me?
  13. A lot of bikes do that. I have a Kawasaki Vukcan 1500 that does the same thing. Found that if I start in neutral, let it warm up, then rev it a little with the clutch pulled in, then put in gear, not so bad-will still do it, just not as bad. Typical for it to lurch a little for next ride or so. Heavier oil will be more likely to do it. I'm guessing that it does this till fresh oil gets between the plates, which takes time.
  14. Guess I'll have to put on the flame retardent suit for this pick,...Jeff Gordon
  15. Good luck on your petition, I signed it. If you do get this thru, make sure no one screws this up, nuth'n worse then closed riding areas.
  16. Glad to hear you got your stuff back and that you didn't end up in jail. Too bad about your quad. Shame the cops were of no help. You should see about running this lowlife out of town after(if) you get your money's worth from the destroyed quad. Chances are, he's done it before to someone else.
  17. Everyone has their own idea's on ratios, but alot depends on your oil. Pick something that is available to you in your area, from there you can decide on ratio. Stick with a name brand type oil.
  18. 140 is good for most elevations. Your likely lean on the pilot. You really should look into learning how to jet as has been suggested. No matter how good this shop you use is, they can not cover all your needs. Alot of shops only know enough to get your machine going. Jetting just takes time to learn, it's only as close to rocket science as you make it. BennBB went to great lengths to make jetting as understandable as can be. If you have any problems, there are plenty here at different times of the day to help you out. Best $20 you can spend is on a Cylmer manual.
  19. Sorry if my responce offended you, if you would have noticed I offered you a solution
  20. Think about power transfer.................. Okay, now that you aren't understanding, think about how you are gonna get the power from the engine to the rear axle. Without casting your own case and mating some kind of tranny, your SOL. Now if you were to mate it to a tranny via a belt like, say a polaris trail boss, you would have one fast automatic quad.
  21. Just make sure your quad is clean before you start. Do one at a time so you don't mix up your slides. If you've never had them apart before, you may want to find a pic/scamatic of the carbs, a search may find that.
  22. Yea, ya gotta order them unless your in an area that the dealer deals alot with banshee's. None of the yamaha dealers around here had any, had to order. Lucky for me, the main distribution for the midwest is right near here, two days to get them.
  23. cOoLDeviL, You never did say if this setup ran fine before. Did you just put this on? Your getting that large on the main with your mods seems like you may have an air leak. Have you checked your gaskets @ the manifold/reeds? Won't take much to check those spots. Hopefully the new neddle will help.
  24. Do you have the throttle cable adjusted where it goes into the throttle body@the grip? Turning so it backs out will take up the slack, then tighten the lock nut against the throttle body. You also have adjustment at the carb tops.
