bronco91shee Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Here is a mod that i learned from bluetraxx-take ur stock timing plate and dremel it so there is only 1/8" left from the hole to the edge. Thiswill give approx 4-5 degres advace. One guy said it felt like 5hp, idk though. Im gunna try it on mine in the next 2 days, i will let u know what i found out. Peace out. Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Does anybody have pics on how to do this mod? Quote
ruff_rida69 Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I wouldn't mind having some pictures too, before i start hacking at my timing plate, does anyone know where we can find some? Quote
dnhyoung Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 just don't do like I did and grind the wholes the wrong direction. I ended up fubaring my stock timing plate and just ended up buying an adjustable one. make sure you gring it out counterclockwise. Quote
lowriderb Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 ive got to find it but i have a stock timing plate that i cut, when i find it ill take some pics of it to show, with it cut like this you will probably want to put the stock degree key back in too.. Quote
streetshee Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 1 mm hole enlargement is 1* advance,4 mm is 4*,(nearly exactly!) make sure u make holes to the "left" of existing ones,(counterclockwise) dead easy mod,did it in 2 hours yesterday, why spend loads on a plate, dont be scared, get in there, may the force be with u! Dextreme Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I am pretty sure that was me on BT who stated that. Here is the pic of my stator after I hogged out the holes. Quote

hotrodbanshee Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Is it best to use a dremal tool for this mod? Also I need to get a flywheel puller. Does the shee take a special one or can I pick one up at an auto parts store? One other question I am at about 150psi compression at sea level running 93 octane, can I advance 2-4 degrees and still use 93. Thanks guys for any answers to my questions. P.S. any drawbacks to doing this mod? Quote

You do need a special puller, one that threads into the flywheel. Quote
Dextreme Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Most of your local Motorcycle/atv shops should have the puller (since it is univeral) for about $10. As stated, a Dremel Tool works best and takes about 30 mins to grind down. I marked every thing I planned to grind out with a black sharpie pen before I started. Quote
geaux 4 it Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Is it really that noticable at 4 degrees. Quote
