hotrodbanshee Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Ya'll think I will still be able to run pump gas 93 octane with 150psi compression @ 4 degrees advance? Quote
Dextreme Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 hotrodbanshee, you are probably okay with 93octane, but you might want to consider getting your crank welded if you haven't already. Quote
Hockey390 Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 You may laugh, but how do i check my compression. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 You need to get a compression guage. It screws into the engine where the spark plug is in at. Just screw it in and kick it really hard a bunch of times or until the guage stops going up. Also hold in the throttle while doing it. Do this to both sides. Quote

Why do you say that? I'm just curious because I'm going to be replacing my stator pretty soon & figure since I'll have the plate out,...why not mod it a bit? And I'm running 150lbs on 92oct. Quote

Why do you say that? If you have bumped up your compression AND advanced your timing, it is good to get your crank welded due to the extra load being put on the crank. Quote
ledofthezep Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 THat's what I thought you were meaning. Owell...if I screw up mine that just give me a reason to go to a 4mm longrod stroker! Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I did the timing plate mod yesterday. Advanced it 4 degrees. I could really feel a difference in power. Easy mod to do and all it cost me was $9.00 for a pully puller. Quote
xelerated Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 JUST got done with mine- check it out- How simple is that! Quote
scotts96fast Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 anyone out here running +4 timing without the crank being welded? With no problems....I'm at +4 with out welding the crank and getting neverous after reading the posts here. Quote

I have had buddies that have ran for a few years with +4 timing with and unwelded crank and finally the crank started separating. Its one of those things that ya never know "when". I would just plan for it the next time you do a rebuild. Quote
willow2679 Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 do you have to rejet when you do these mod?? Quote
scotts96fast Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 do you have to rejet when you do these mod?? from what I've been hearing. You should not have to change your jetting.BUT a good idea to double check doing any mod.So far all I heard is turning the idle up a tad......If any.. Quote
6sic6 Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 So, do you extend all three mounting holes or just the two towards the back? Anyone got more pics? Maybe before and after? Sounds easy, but a pics worth a thousand words. I don't won't to screw it up. I've got access to a cnc mill. Maybe I can set up a program? Thanks for the kick-ass tip! Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Yes all 3 holes. There is a pic on page one. Quote
