You east coasters are gonna hate this
Banchetta replied to Wallrat's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Your neighbor said it right...you just have to dress for it...If you work inside, then you dress for it, meaing that if your car broke down, then your done. Unlike a lot of people that work inside, outside people adapt as the year goes on...We wear 1 sweatshirt at 50-60 degrees out, then 2 at 40 degrees out, 3 at 30, so on....the first day you don't wear enough will be the last day...every morning after, you'll learn to bring more than you need. You can always take cloths off....layers is the key...just remember, we adapt in a 3-4 month period as the weather changes, not like others that are only outside for a few minutes... And yes, they do make flannel-lined jeans, they work better than wool pants. Long johns and FL jeans and I can work into the negatives w/ o my legs getting cold...they work awesome.. -
Here we go again....Anyone got some popcorn???

Installed Toomey TR6 pipes and now having problems
Banchetta replied to Ruff Ryder's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The hesitation could be from a lean bog, he might be able to get some of that out by raising the needle. I'd also use the stock needle and not Toomey needles. Adjust the air screws and make sure the carbs are in sync...If the temps are cold out or he has a modded air box or aftermarket filter, then I'd look into larger mains and check the plugs.. -
I agree also 100%. Dave helped me out substantially w/ some custom domes for my 4mil stroker. Very knowledgable and my shee reacted the exact way he said it would. I wish he did porting!!! 2 thumbs up Dave. Keep up the good work...

-6 this morning w/ a high of 12 degrees. Tomorrow is the warmest day of the week w/ a high of 25. Friday and Saturday will be back in the negatives at night and single numbers during the day...Oh well, just put on 5 sweatshirts, long johns, flannel-lined jeans, 2 pairs of socks, neck warmer, hood, hat, two pairs of gloves and good to go!!!! Can't wait for Glamis, weather can't be any worst than Coalfest!! -
V-force suggest not to run them on the low side and will lower the reed life substantially and could break a petal.. The setting is for other bikes, but not the shee..
-
Try a richer pilot. You have the idle screws turned in all the way??
-
Nicely stated. I'd also start w/ 330-340 range. The larger bore in the carbs will increase the jet size a little as well as the porting..Better to start rich and work down..I'd start w/ 330 mains, 25 pilots and needle in the middle clip to start and go from there.
-
I wouldn't be giving that advise to anyone.......
-
Do you check the plugs after running it wide open in 6th gear?? Make sure they are brown and not tan...You might be at a higher elevation where the air is thinner. That'll give you leaner jetting. Also make sure the K&N is cleaned w/ the K&N cleaner and not detergents, those will actually clog the K&N.

The 18's will give a better lower center of gravity. Your cornering will beneifit and will have less tire roll in the corners..If you have no clearance issues and don't drag that much, then go for it..The 22's will hook better, but are worse in the corners...What's more important to you?? Cornering or traction?
-
Your running stock size jets and its overheating??? What are all your mods including the air filter and box...temp outside? elevation...Your jetting seems lean for winter even for a bone stock shee....fell your radiator when it overheats. If its really got, then its circulating and your running too lean..what do your plugs look like after a wot test run in 6th gear??

Dogboy, don't hold your breathe, my old lady has been telling me the same thing for 7 years now, and still no 3-some!!!! I gave up. But then I think about it when the subject hasn't been brought up in a while...Would it ruin your trust in the future even though the rules are there??? Then my old lady sais, well if you get another girl, then I get another guy!!!! WOW!!!! I dropped that topic really quick....

I believe the Pc pipes and Bills are the cheapest, correct me if I'm wrong. PC's have more top end. Bills are a better all around..

About to make exhaust purchase quick ?
Banchetta replied to BigDaddyK's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Hell w/ the kit unless you want to pay $30 for a jet tray...Just buy the jets individually from 280-330, you don't need the needles or pilots for now..Jets cost $4/jet.. -
34's are supposed to be better for bottom end response while the 35's are supposed to be better for top end...very minimal on a dyno if any... Night rider, you both have the same jetting?? What are you running??
-
TTTTT-Rex!!!
-
I've done a lot of dyno testing w/ mods, but never pipes, too much jetting involved for true comparison. I go by seat of the pants feel w/ correct jetting. I've done a lot of local jetting as well as my friends shop. I jetted all his street bikes and atv's...another thing that a dyno can't read is usable power...The ptr's don't look much different than others on a dyno, but are totally different in the real world. The torque is emphasized at the middle of the rpms instead of the top. Peak torque at higher rpms caused tire spin. This is only good for dragracing where you can hook up like sand w/ sand tires. The ptr's sign off a little earlier, but have a lot more torque and will pull a taller gear, giving you a broader powerband. You'll find yourself relearning how to ride the shee. I have owned over 6 other pipes (high revs) before I bought the ptr's...I won't go back. I've lost NO top end speed and dont' have to rev the piss out the motor to get any power out of it. For trail riding, you won't find a better pipe. Night and day compared to PC and Toomey.
-
I'm not familiar w/ those carbs, but you should be in the range of about 300-330 mains, 30 pilots.....this would be a good base to start and go from there..
-
Run them at wot in 6th gear and take another pic....I change mine once a year. No need to change them if they aren't fouled. A perfectly jetted shee won't foul plugs.
-
They are not much for bottom end, but pull nicely on top. They aren't much for trails, but will work great in the dunes.
-
I'm going to post this one on the bedroom door!!!
-
I had 162 mains, 42 pilots and 2nd clip on the needles w/ pwks.....same mods, different carbs, put 34pj's on and went to a 175 mains, 55-58pilots, needle 5th clip and still wants more....went to a shorter needle and still wants more fuel...Tried a CGL, then CGK, CGJ, CEJ, now a DEJ...ya, totally different.
-
Your backfiring is caused by a lean pilot, not rich. And don't adjust the mains to that backfire..Adjust them to the plugs.
-
PC pipes have NO low end. I'd pick 5 or so other brands for more low end before I picked them...The ptr's are quite bit more expensive, for most people it won't matter, but for that edge, its worth it. I've never rode another pipe w/ the throttle response and smooth power those deliver. It just puts the power to the ground.
