Go -2 You won't regret it. +2 will probably help ya a bit with keeping the front end down, but not a whole lot. With my -2 I don't have wheelie any more really than I did before, but I hook up 10 times better. I also went to +2+1 arms & all around suspension, my handling is night/day better than it was in stock trim.

I just take a ratchet strap tie-down & hook it to the frame behind the shifter where the swingarm connects to the frame & tighten it down so the flywheel won't budge. Did that just the other day to get the flywheel nut off, worked like a charm. When I put my flywheel back on the last time I replaced the stator I just tightened it by hand....tight, then a little, and I didn't have any problems. Had I had a torque wrench on hand then I would have used it, but I didn't so I risked it and luckily didn't have any problems. This time I'll get'r torqued to specs.

I ran K&N clamp ons & switched to a toomey 2:1 with uni & will never go back to the K&N's or clamp ons. Filters just as good & it's easier to maintain & clean.

So when's everyone going down? Looks like it's just us 3 for sure. My roomate(zephead400ex) and I are going to get there later in the evening on the 18th. We'll be in my little red dodge dakota sport, single cab...will have a little blue trailer, 2 yellow EX's & my blk/red banshee. Not sure when you guys are coming down, but if you're going to get there on the 19th I could maybe try & steal you guys some spots. Do you prefer the north or south camp? I'll try & get a pic of our ride & quads loaded up, we'll probably have a led zeppelin flag hang'n to, so we shouldn't be too hard to miss! Let me re-itterate my previous statement. To Hell with that sick fucker and he should die and rot in fucking prison. That pisses me off just hearing that. My cousin had that happen to her by her dad's 'friend' when she was like 12...after her dad literally re-arranged his face(put him in ICU for a few months) he got arrested & is still in prison. Right on,...I may just have to sneak down for a day or so on snake hunt. I usually don't wind up riding a hole lot that weekend due to all the idiots out there who don't pay attention to other people out there. But I'd like to meet up with some of you all too. When it gets closer to that time we can open a new thread on here & get it all figured out. My stator came in today, my mom's going to pick it up for me so I can install it after I get out of class tonight. Woohoo! I'm pumped, shee's been out of commission too long. The ex is alright to ride, but I want my thrill back! However, I have refined my wheelying skills on the EX. Kinda excited to get the exhaust on there, that oughta give it some more grunt. It's already enough for the g/f, but she can handle it...still wants to ride the banshee all the time though, go figure. I told her that I was taking it with me when we go down this month & she regulated on my ass. God forbid if I take 'her' quad and ride it. I told her that I was only taking it for a back-up quad. Just incase the shee wants to be stubborn, never had any problems other than the stator. I go through stators like some people do top-ends! L8R all.

Ever checked the stator? Don't know the exact specs, but it can be checked with an OHM meter. Someone else here can get you the specs. Anyone?...

Stock clutch? How's it look? Just a thought... 400ex's can be fast if they're setup properly...just like most sport quads. All it takes is money.

That's what I did,...well actually like a 12'r. But it happens! I happened to pick up another shee & took all the 'goodies' off of it. Came with works tripples w/rezzies. They're a big improvement over stock & I've had good results with them so far. Sometime in the future I'm going to send them in & have them rebuilt for my weight & riding style and I imagine they'll be even better then. I'd still love to have me some Elkas or custom axis, maybe even Pep or Ohlins. My rear shock is an ohlins rebuilt & it's great.

Yeah,..if that doesn't fix it I think I'll just say 'screw it' & take it to a guy in my hometown that builds them for a living. What a life--to build shee's for a living. I really don't wanna have to put around on the stock ex. I may have a WB full exhaust on it though before we go.

I used a phillips head screwdriver & slid it on. I've also used vise-grips too. If ya got a little hook screwdriver, those work great also.

Don't know if this will help or not, but give this a shot. When it's shifting ok for ya through all gears....take your shifter off, put a rubber washer(so it won't grind into your stator cover), then a regular washer on the shaft, then put your shifter back on. This will eliminate the left-to-right play of the shift shaft that may be causing your problems. I had the same problems, kept getting stuck in 2 gears. 'TXALKY', I believe, gave me that hint & I've never had any problems shifting since. If nothing else, it's worth a shot. Hope it will help you like it did me.

But will give you a reason to go bigger & better! I'm still running the stock crank & topend. Could probably use a new topend just for shits, but shee's still got kick-arse compression & runs just fine. "Always look on the bright side of life..."(Monty Python anyone?)

I'll for sure be down the weekend of the 19th. Don't know if I'll have the rail this time though. I'm probably just going to take the shee & EX, as well as my roomate's EX. Hopefully my stator gets in sometime this week. I pulled the stator out yesterday & it does look pretty melted...so that's probably what's been my problem.

Anyone know the relative weight difference between 2, 4, & 6 ply? I wouldn't think it'd make a whole hell of a lot of difference.
