  1. Have you cleaned the carbs? SOunds like a clogged pilot jet.
  2. Basically, the shorter you go, the more weight you put the the rear wheels, and the more traction you get. I run a -2.5, and the only place I dislike it, (only slightly dislike) is the sand. I can't drag. I go right over backwards.... BUT, in the dirt, it is an animal for traction. Things you NEVER thought possible are now acheivable with the newfound traction..
  3. This is a #1 NO-NO!!!!! NEVER take your bike to the dealer. Not even for warranty repair..... They are MORONS. My apologies go out to the select FEW who may be a worthwhile mechanic at a shop. BUT, the norm is, at the local dealership, not a one of them is worth a piss..... I know what you say about not having time, as I have none myself. I have been out to ride all of 5 times this year. Pretty pathetic on my part. Anyways, I am willing to bet you had some piston damage on the right side..... And you could have done this yourself for a minimal fee, and not alot of time... A top end can be done in about 3 hours out of your time. Not including running the cylinders to the machine shop of course....
  4. What engine/transmission do you have?
  5. At work, Craftsman, or Stanley, or whatever else is there... At home, Craftsman, if I have bought it. My box(es) are craftsman, and so are 90% of the tools in there. I have a KAL equip compression tester, and some other equipment (testing wise) from KAL, but my hand tools are craftsman. The MAC or Snap-On truck doesn't come to my house, and I don't see the need to pay the big bucks. I rarely break a tool. And when I do, the wife is usualy home to go fetch me another one... I have used alot of tools. Friends that swear by Snap On, and when their shit breaks, And I am there, I got the tool box in the bed of the truck, and get them some craftsman tools. They always work. IMHO, you can't beat Craftsman for price and reliability..... But, their jacks, now that's another story....
  6. Swap may be alright.... Who knows??? On the new truck, It currently has 3" in the front, and will hopefully have airbags in the near future to level up the rear. And provide leveling when loaded, as the truck often is.... Future plans are swaying me towards 6", and a set of 35-14.5 SSR swampers. I may go with 8" and some 37" rubber. I don't know yet. A snow plow will be dangling off the front of it. Not sure how high I want to go....... Depends on how much loot I have at the time. The engine is getting a little "smooth talkin" before anything more is done suspension wise..... I may even go coilover in the front......
  7. No need to send your truck, you can just buy mine!!!!!!!
  8. I suck.... I wish I could have been there!!!!
  9. Run a credit check???? You can find out ALOT of info about a person by their credit history.......... I do not know about the felon receiving benefit(s) thing. Sounds like they are professionals at cheating the system.......
  10. how about a set of ladder bars?? I'm not a fan of roll bars or "brush guards" Too many people runing brush guards on Mercedes SUV's. Takes the fun out of it?
  11. I'm in a couple of them. There is one of me and the wifey on our wedding day. (we drove the truck, with the wedding party in it, from the church to the reception.) and a couple of me and my bro in one of the indoor shows..... (standing next to it).......Thanks for the compliments....
  12. Price has been PM'd, and turnaround is next day. Unless extenuating circumstances come up, but that's very rare. It has happened though....
  13. Jealousy will get you nowhere my friend!!!! 38's is all you can go..... Believe me, if you could go 44's, you would. But I am sure something set your limit at 38" tires. And is it a 1/2 ton???? Anyways... I ran 33's, 38's, and then 44's. 29's are easily atainable, but I have lost the niche to drive around illegal trucks. My truck was far from street legal, yet a whole lot better constructed and safer than alot of trucks I see out there.... Also, it's up for sale..... Clicky Clicky.......
  14. Well, I sent you a PM on the mods, if that's the route you wanna go. now, I am a "larger" individual myself. Tipping the scale at 230. You NEED some suspension mods. Some new shocks will make you . Definitely needed. What's all the power in the world, if you can't keep the bike from getting squirrely? Trust me, it will help immensely. Next, a shortened swingarm is a Godsend on a shee. Another mod that will make you at why you didn't do it earlier. You have a good start on the bike. A lightened flywheel, IMHO you will like in the woods. Others, don't think so...... I Love mine, everywhere I ride. Wakes up the much needed throttle response....... And the head mod, will give a you a little more punch down low.....
  15. Always a problem with a shee......
  16. 1mm is equal to .0394". So, .5mm is equal to roughly .0197" or so.... Call it .020" over... So, 1.5mm=.0591, or rounded up, is .060" over.... In other words, you are bidding on the right kit...
  17. I usually hop off and go grab her ass. Unless it's not my wife, than I'll proly just look, and drool...... I can't really ride my shee that well....
  18. Your very welcome!!!! Glad you like it! P.S. Told ya it would put a smile on your face!!!
  19. I can machine yours, or sell you a brand new modded star. However you wanna do it!!!
  20. Yep. I run 44" swamper boggers.
  21. Calm down my friend. No need to get all bitter. I realize he hasn't said if it is all gone, or just the rezzy, but dammmmm!! If it's all gone out of the radiator, it is going somewhere. If the exhaust doesn't smell sweet, and there's no smoke, than it is leaking out of somewhere...... If it is gone out of the rezzy, than don't worry. It happens to all shees. Relocate the bottle to the front. It won't happen anymore..... If you determine it's a leak, you need to check, and double check everything. Hoses, connections, gaskets..... I don't think the dye would hurt anything. But you should be able to find it without getting dye.....
  22. Sounds like you are holding a good seal in there..... The reeds could be screwed up, but that would make it bog in the upper RPM's, and drop off that cylinder when the R's get up there..... I had a cracked reed, and the bike wouldn't go past half throttle. And the cylinder stoppped firing..... Now, if your holding air, and all seems well at the moment, perhaps the leak could be in the carb boots. I had an air leak once, it was in the boots. I leakdown tested it, several times, and it held fine..... However, new carb intake boots, made her run like a champ again. Just a thought there...... May be a place to start.....
  23. That's where I got my price of 2K..... I'll figure somethin out...
  24. I recommend that if you find an air leak, either replace the gasket, or if it is a crank seal, you need to pull the engine. Splitting the cases and re-sealing an engine is a job that can be done in one evening. From raining the fluids, to filling them up........ Just make sure you have Yamabond, and a GOOD torque wrench to put it back together......
  25. Probably...... But I think we've all been there.... Remember to K.I.S.S. it. K eep I t S imple S tupid Something pops always told me.......
