Does it have the stock clutch basket? im interested if it has an aftermarket billet basket.

If you plan on hitting the dunes regularly i would purchase a metal whip (flag) because flags break. you need a orv sticker for your bike and your truck (if you take your truck in the sand, which you will need a flag for that also) there is also a safety course they are putting in place which requires riders to carry the card on them. the course takes a couple hours online. I havent seen the po po's enforcing the law yet but they can. Like everyone else says, be careful coming up to peaks of dunes and dont go down a blind slope until you look at it first. I have an amber lens in my goggles which help greatly. bump on the "bring more money than you think you need". Other than that, rip it up!

I have an actual yamaha tech manual, and it isnt as thorough in explaining how to perform the steps as the clymer manual is. I may have a different one that you, i got this one while i was in yamaha at MMI.

I like to see the dedication. Thats crazy you had to drive that far to get it. I refer to that clymers manuel as "The Banshee Bible". Between that book and this site, you are gonna be good.

I would not up your compression if you are worried about your crank. pipes, filters, jetting, and timing plate and you will be good.

Phazer, You say there is no power band, but you describe the motor ^^^^.....lol, while there is no physical "power band" the motor does have a point where the power hits and we are all aware of the feeling. KP, just do what these guys are saying and get a manual. Also, start scowering the forum for all the info you can to get up to speed a little.

Welcome! I would look for pipes and silencers first. You get a pretty substantial gain just by getting rid of your stock pipes. Gonna need to re jet after. also depends on what type of riding you do and what type of power you are looking for...i.e. dirt, sand, snow, top end power, mid, bottom.

Now i dont know for sure if i am correct, but i was told that the stock cranks true better than the aftermarket cranks. with that being said, you could probably send out your stock crank and have it rebuilt, trued and welded for cheaper than buying a new crank. You could even throw a set of long rods while you are at it.

Do you just drag race or dune it also? If you dune it then you probably should pass on the wheelie bar and +10 or more swingarm and lowering the front end.

I am a 50/50 drag dune guy as well. only ride in sand. I have +4 and will keep it that way. I weigh 170. try working your clutch a little. feather it to keep the front end down. or become intimately familiar with your foot break.
