yea what he said. my ninja does the same thing until it gets warmed up. usually after they sit for a while they do that
-
they are not side specific. each has an adjustment on them to fine tune them and sync the carbs. I would reset the idle on the tors boxes right down to zero and bottom them out. then set the idle from there.

BANSHEE - Trinity Laegers Elka - HEAVY MODS - OHIO
Overboost replied to tm165603's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
all that work and parts, with worn out front stock tires. WTF? -
a bog is usually a sign of being too rich. if it runs good down low and bogs up high, you are probably too rich on the mains with them few mods. try a 260 main. if your lean, it will more than likely pop, not bog. popping is a backfire that means it is lean, a bog means it has more gas than it can burn because it dont have the air to mix with it.

or just go where I go, silver lake is the only place that checks for SA, that and the mounds. I just hit trails and sand pits. they dont bother you there. even if you run into DNR, they dont check your arrestors. thats if you even see anyone. I go where its free, dont need a parks sticker and dont have to pay to get in, just your ORV sticker. much less hassle, alot more fun, the dunes are great for an hour, then you get bored. the trails are non stop, and when you get to the end, you can go back or take another trail home, stop at towns, gas up, eat and dont have to deal with sand rails and trucks running you over.

1987 roller for sale $1100 comes with CA title
Overboost replied to bansheefever1's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
hell, mine is an 87 with pro circuit pipes and some other mods, I would sell it with motor running perfect for $1500.... most rollers around here go in the $400-$500 range with no motor -

timing is simply when the plug fires in relation to piston location. advance means it fires before the piston reaches TDC, retard is firing after the piston has left TDC. just like in a car, the more you advance the timing, the more power you will get, however, you also get spark knock relative to how much advance you are running. if you go too much timing, you will get spark knock which in turn, burns holes in piston tops. you need to find that happy medium for your engine. +4 is a safe area that 99% of all banshees can tolorate. you can go more depending on motor mods, condition, spark plug heat range and several other factors but +4 is a safe range for most all bikes. if you have too much retard, it will cause a bog, loss of power, higher engine temps and a general lack of performance. simple answer, all the bikes can handle +4, you tune/build for more. +3 or less, leave the plate off, the difference you will see is minuscule.

is the gap between your flywheel and pickup coil too wide? should be about .5 mm or about the thickness of a a business card. is your stator plugged in the harness? coil pack plugged in with the blade terminals?

Everyone Please Read (Jetting info Needed)
Overboost replied to 9FR Productions's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
27.5 pilot and 290 main start there if your low end bogs, go 25 pilot. bog up top, drop the mains a size at a time EDIT: 4200 elevation.... 25 pilot and 270 mains.... you have no air -
I spent $250 on my pipes and filters. I know, when I was 17 it took me forever to save up the $250 to pay my drag racing ticket I had gotten, but no worries, you can get the cash needed to mod the banshee. no matter what you end up doing, if you want to dance, you have to pay the piper, so pay him as little as you can, used pipes and new filters $250 you wont be sorry. unless you crash it, then you might be, but outside of that, a wise buy.

2005 Yamaha YFZ450 & 2001 Yamaha Banshee
Overboost replied to 2001Shee's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I am not sure I would buy a banshee that dont burn oil, dont seem like it would last too long. -
I "THINK" that I figured it out, at least mine. idle adjustment... one carb slide was higher than the other, it would idle good, run fine but one side just popped more than the other. I reset them, adjusted them even, now I have exhaust comming from both pipes at the same pressure, and the smoke alternates between the two. I was getting shit loads of smoke from one, and almost nothing from the other. the weak cylinder was the one that was higher than the other, it must have been pulling more air, and the other side had more gas than air, hence the extra smoke and more pop. also why it went away and ran great on the big end, you take away that carb sync scenario, and poof, you have good power, just a funky idle. hope this helps, i JUST got done doing mine for the past 3 hours trying to track it down, from compression tests, to reeds, replacement carbs.
-
dont mean to hijack the post but.. I have the same problem also, left side is much weaker than right at the exhaust. left is kind of just puffing and right is popping and smacking. you can hear it when left fires, engine revs a bit and then puffs. feels like compression is weak but when you run it WFO, it hauls balls. no problems. I have replaced carbs, swapped coil wires, changed the right carb with a different one, removed tors, changed gas line, changed gas, changed jetting all to no avail. everything looks good, sync, slides are in correct. could it be a reed taking a dump? I have the reed out on that side but dont know how to tell if they are bad. they are white pedals. pistons look nice and new through the port on the side, cant see the top. the bike runs perfect, driving around, WFO and all, it just bothers me that it is weak on the exhaust on the left side.

need 2 find 27.5 jets for stock carbs
Overboost replied to banshee whipped's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I went to my local bike shop and got them for $2.90 each, got a shit load of mains off flea bay for $35 for the set shipped -
well if all you have is pods, I would start at a 25 stock pilot and 260 main. I am in michigan and am running a 25 pilot (27.5 was too rich) and 320 main and have pod filters and pro circuit exhaust.

96 Banshee roller, fresh top end, coolhead, nice cases
Overboost replied to j28d's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
wheres the roller located -
if it was running rich, you may have wet fouled the plugs, change to new ones, once wet, they may not fire again, even when dry.
-
jets that came with it would be 190-200-210 all far too lean for pod filters. most motorcycle shops that service ATV will carry them. there is a guy selling sets on the net for $36 shipped for a variety of jets that come in a nice little box. find him on flea bay by searching for "banshee jets"

another thread to be pissed at...
Overboost replied to tithead's topic in General Banshee Discussion
no, not his house, it will be someone elses house since he probly rents it. burn down his mothers house, that will really piss him off. every thief is fine with jacking someone elses shit, but when it happens to them or their family, they get all sorts of pissed off. -
yes, these would be the ones you want. he also sells them in sets with the pilots, but no .5 sizes
-
I have outerwears, they are well used, but complete. I was going to wash them but was afraid they may not make it back alive.
-
I am looking to trade for an ignition key setup or $25 shipped
