  1. I've never had a coil fail, but a high-speed miss is often a symptom of a failing coil. My CDI went out once and it was exactly as you described; died like someone hit the kill switch and it never ran again until I replaced it. I also had the stator fail from a broken solder joint, it started to run rough and then also died similarly. That's not to say that your coil isn't toast, just what I've seen happen on mine. The easiest way to test the coil is to have a shop bench test it, if that checks out it still may be bad (as with anything electrical sometimes the problem is intermittant and not easy to duplicate the exact conditions of failure). I forget Trigg, are you running an RZ motor?
  2. One of my faves...
  3. It's damn good. "Shadow of a Man" and "Mercy, Severity" are prolly my faves but it's all good, worth pickin' up.
  4. Mine's the same as KRMit's, with a meat thermometer, works great and cost me like $5...
  5. Pretty much mine is just like a weekend ride, and I do that a few days or the weekend after the last ride (wash, grease, oil chain, clean air filter, check/change case oil, check radiator, check compression every month or so, look for anything loose when washin it, etc.). I got a weird habit of looking over my and my teammates quads when we're hanging out before the preride/race, always seem to happen upon something that needs attention. Once we've got 'em running and waiting to start I just try to relax, then when we're on the line I just visualise getting the holeshot. Half seriously, I try to get some the night before too heh. I've found that what I lose in sleep I more than make up for with being relaxed and sporting a shit-eating grin through half the race And in my case the shit my friends give me about it is priceless too. Other than that kick the tires and light the fires...
  6. What a dumbass. There goes my last shred of respect for modern media
  7. That carbon fiber is SICK!!!! And just to make this relavent, dealerships SUCK!!!!
  8. Exactly man, when the legislation is dictated by people too stupid to get out of jury duty...well shit happens I guess.
  9. HELL YEAH
  10. Abyss, dude sorry to hear it, but I'm going through the exact same shit here, so hopefully this thread will help us both out... At this point the best advice I can give you is take your time, think things through, and watch your back. I was the same way when I told her I wanted out; all I cared about was getting 50/50 custody of my son, and my Banshee. She could take everything, the house, land, truck, minivan, everygoddamnthing, I didn't give a fuck. As others have mentioned it's an emotional thing, so taking a little time to think it out will be alot better... Unfortunately, my luck being able to sort things out with her rationally has been about 50% at best. It takes some time man, mine started off all hurt, then went through the spiteful bitch stage, and eventually realized we gotta work something out one way or another. Depending on the day she'll still be mean about it or talk like a normal person, flip a coin I guess. So far I think giving it some time has helped, like I said we've been able to talk about it a few times and worked out most of the details. I can see how a (good) lawyer would have helped when we were both so pissed off that we couldn't look each other in the face, but in the end I think it would have cost out the ass, had a more negative affect on our son, and probably wouldn't have had any benefit to either one of us. Anyway, like I said I was in the same position, I was ready to bail with just my Banshee, but at this point I'll be alot better off than if I had jumped the gun. In our case, her half of our shit she wants will leave me with alot better than just giving in to get out of it, ya know? I'll keep the house so I won't hafta spend more on rent somewhere else (mortgage is less than a decent apartment would be), my Banshee, and splitting the furniture & shit equally will make it easier for both of us so we don't hafta start from scratch. Of course I don't know for sure if that will work in your case but ya might rough it out and see where you stand... Oh and as far as the original question, I don't know for sure if you'd get away with it or not, I think you'd be taking your chances either way. Good luck man, keep us posted, and don't give up!!
  11. I'd just leave the damn thing off, and remove the switch on the e-brake perch and at the throttle housing. You can get a TORS elimination kit to get rid of the huge boxes on top of each carb, but disconnecting that control box effectively disables the system.
  12. I agree with Yamahammer, make sure the electrical system has a good ground at the voltage regulator (black wire with an eyelet terminal) and the coil. And like PCshee said it's more likely the coil than the CDI, when my CDI went out there was no spark at all. I would also double check the pickup coil gap and the flywheel torque, there's an outside possibility it's the flywheel itself, Banchetta had a problem with his but I don't remember the details. Good luck.
  13. LOL! Have a good one SDD
  14. Dude that's exactly what I thought, 'cept you wouldn't need a flag at all. Crazy.
  15. I'm sure someone else can elaborate, but basically yeah a long rod uses the stock crank pin locations, a longer rod, and pistons that have the wrist pin located closer to the top of the piston (either Wiseco 795 pistons or the "old" way of boring the jugs 80 over and using Blaster pistons for a 370LR). The main advantage is a lower rod angle at the piston, primarily for durability. A stroker uses a different crank layout so the pins are placed farther away from the center of the crank giving you a longer piston stroke, more volume=more power. To get the most out of a stroker you need stroker-specific porting (which if the jugs are already ported for a stock stroke it may or may not work well or at all with the longer stroke), and a means of increasing the stroke (again it can vary between a spacer plate or head mods). Others here can tell ya better than I can. And welcome to the HQ, always good to see someone else from NM heh.
  16. I agree with NugShee, I'd go with 18" Holeshot MX rears or cut Turf Tamers, the Holeshots wear quickly on hardpack tho...
  17. Did you find it??? I don't know for sure but I could swear I saw a CSI where they were able to read a serial number after it was ground off, heh yeah big help I know but thought I'd mention it.
  18. Late as usual but happy birthday anyways!!!
  19. Tough one...Naked Gun by any chance?
  20. Damn Meat that R looks great, can't wait to see what it looks like now. Hey have you pursued any sponsorships at all? Ridingorhiding hooked us up with a sponsorship request letter, it never hurts to try so if ya want to check it out let me know and I'll email it to ya.
  21. I don't know for sure, but from pics I've seen the YFZ has a different steering stop setup...
  22. What I was gonna say, I'd test the stator first, then make sure the TORS is disabled as Banchetta suggested, then check over the entire wiring harness, especially the two wires going to the coil. Good luck.
