Dude throw in some Texas women and I'd be there if I had to push my Banshee, heh. Damn, I want to go but not sure if I'll make it, whichever one of you guys that had the yellow/black Banshee last Sunday throws some serious roost, I'm still washing sand off from that ride...

I wouldn't sweat the pay thing, if Lee chose to implement it I'm sure it would be something like NYUK mentioned or mebbe a nice gold star next to yer avatar... BTW I just noticed the "HQ Legend" under a few of our names, that's cool! And holy worn out keyboards Batman, 5k posts led?!??!!

Hell yeah sredish! I know I can make it to the Cisco race next year, and any others in the panhandle or West of about Abeline, probably the closest one to you here in NM is the Carlsbad race, and it's next weekend 10/21. Anyway, next season for sure we'll hafta all hook up at some races, it's always a great time. Limited03, I wouldn't sweat the setup too much just yet, unless you're +3 and those East Texas tracks are real tight, you should be ok to go check out a race or two this year. At the very least they usually have a preride that's open to anyone, whether you're signed up to race or not (they do here on the day before the race, we rode one with ridingorhiding's dad and had a blast), may be different in TX but I thought sredish said the "buddy race" was the day before and you could do that too to get a feel for the track. I ran 18" rears for the first few races here and did fine, the last race on them they did hold me back a little because the ruts got deep on the second loop but they did ok, as long as you got a good swingarm skidplate, heh. If you can run a couple hard MX motos you've got a good start on endurance, what I do is try to ride as hard & fast as I can on the trails or dunes for about an hour until I feel tired, and then push it a little farther, there's no substitute for riding to get in shape for a race...

Limited03, the ones I've been racing here in NM are lotsa fun, but like sredish said it takes alot of endurance. Most of the ones here average around 40 miles for the class I'm in, usually made up of 2 20-mile loops. It doesn't sound bad until you try to keep it pinned for that long, my first race I could barely hang on for the second loop and my right thumb was about to fall off. If you stick with it, you WILL be in excellent shape tho, heh. Anyway, I've had a blast at every race. Got some friends together and made a team, got some help from some sponsors and have ridden in some awesome places around here, without the races I would have never found out about the riding areas or had as much fun going. It's a real test of man & machine, not that other forms of racing aren't but XC/desert can be brutal, and just finishing is an accomplishment in itself. Having a reliable machine means more than having the fastest one, and riding smart can be the difference between a podium and getting towed back to the pits. But yeah, it is alot of fun and worth checking out, for me it's like a fast trail ride, mixed up with real technical sections, lotsa competition even when you don't see them, and some great people to hang out with. BTW Sredish & Jen, I'm hoping to make most or all of the "West" atvccs races next season if they get it split...

Hey thanks alot guys, I really appreciate it. I just need to pull off the clutch cover and see what happened-something's in a bind, guess my foot came down on the shift lever on a jump and now it'll only shift between 3rd and 4th gear.

Need to tear it down to make sure, just checkin' to see if anyone had one laying around just in case...

Nater's birthday is today. Happy Birthday yo!
BenBB replied to sredish's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Happy brithday nater, a day late and a dollar short but sounds like you had a good one...hope it was half as good as walt's avatar DAMN -
Yeah, but damn they're fun...much like Banshees they can be a pain in the ass but I couldn't imagine life without either one. The good thing is there's lots of 'em out there. "With the good comes the bad, the bad comes the good, but I'm gonna life my life like I should" -Limp Bizkit

Sounds like the head is leaking, the cylinder is pressurizing the coolant system. If you just changed the head gasket, the head may be warped, you'll need to check it with a feeler gauge on a flat plate (or plate glass). Is the radiator puking any at all?

LOL Stan!! Have a good one NYUK, cake and ice cream woohoo!!
-
I'm still leaning towards the Clarke ridingorhiding, that reminds me I need to send 'em a letter and see what they say. Actually I'd rather just have a nice pit bunny waitin' at the pits to refuel my stock tank, heh, but I doubt I could afford either one right now LOL!!

CDI on my Banshee went out once too...but warwgn has a Raptor... Dustin, as far as I know the only way to test the CDI 100% sure is to swap in a known working one. When mine went out I got a Dyna becuase it was alot cheaper than OEM, but that may not be the case anymore. Have you tested everything else? What happened on the spark plug cap, try a new one yet?? Unless you've ruled out everything else it could be something as simple as wires grounding against the frame or each other (Chris mentioned you had some wire trouble), I'd make sure it wasn't something else before getting a new CDI...

Wish I could get more stuff from ya tats, the tires were perfect. To everyone else, tats is a great guy to deal with, you won't be disappointed.

Got 'em today, thanks tats!!!

Alot depends on where you're gonna ride, and how much you want to spend... 1. Air filter-there's a good reason it's on everyone's list, the stock setups sucks. Foam filter or K&N, carb mounted or in the airbox with an adapter plate. 2. Reliability-lots of little things you can do, but my favorite is a temp gauge. Adding grease zerks to the axle housing and swingarm pivot are a close second, then there's removing the TORS and adding skidplates. 3. Suspension-probably the most expensive but also where you can make a big difference, aftermarket front shocks would probably be my first suggestion, followed by (or ideally at the same time) wider a-arms, and a wider axle. 4. Performance-pipe it and rejet. After that, you're only limited by $$$, shaved head/aftermarket head, reeds & ported/aftermarket cages, advance the timing, porting, etc. 5. Traction-rear tires are a must, depending where you ride. The right combo of fronts & wheels all the way around help alot too.
-
Like Banshee17Racing said, it's ok to cut off the TORS connectors, just don't cut something else off. The wires don't need to be spliced or anything, just cut them and tape 'em off; the control box connector, the two carb connectors, the throttle switch connector, and the e-brake connector.

Lookin' good Stan, nice banner I must say.
-
Dude you just said the magic word, heh, well two of 'em but I can't resist either one...
-
Yeah Meat I got them coming, excellent deal and perfect timing, just trashed my old tires. I'll post a pic with the desert setup when I get 'em here. ABM-Banshee is gonna cut me some wheel rings for the front & rear whenever I can come up with the green just not sure if that'll happen before the next race on 11/21... Tats you should get the bucks in tha mail soon, thanks again.

Closest dunes you got is Kermit, TX (a good 12 hour drive) or LS (you'll know how far THAT is), and LA dunes in Luisiana (not sure where they are at but closer than the other two). I'm sure there's MX tracks, maybe some CC racing nearby (check atvccs.com), and National TT tracks in Brashear, TX and Greenbrier, AR. A friend of mine lived there and did some ashpalt drag racing too...

Dustin, the coil test may not give you a definite answer with an ohmmeter, BUT you can get it bench tested at a shop and find out for sure, they might not even charge ya for it (local Suzuki dealer tested mine for free). The plug wire test should tell ya for sure with a meter, so if you're lucky that's all it is, cheap fix. I don't know for sure on the Raptor either, it could be the CDI but I'd make sure it wasn't the coil or wiring like you already did. Good luck.

Yep, take care of her and she'll take care of you. Looks great BTW. If you've got Wiseco pistons, they are forged. I would suggest letting it warm up fully to allow the pistons to expand before you really get on it. At least 3-5 minutes of idling should do it. An aftermarket or homemade temp gauge would be a good idea, as you can tell when it's warm (I let mine get to 100F before it moves), it'll also let you know when it's TOO hot (200F or over). As loco and stclark said, you'll want to change the tranny oil regularly. There's no oil filter like a 4-stroke but the oil also doesn't hafta lubricate the motor, just the trans gears and clutch. I change mine once a month riding every weekend, so if I was riding every day I'd shoot for at least once a week...along with cleaning the air filter, washing her real good, greasing all the zerks, oiling the chain (and check the chain tension). Be careful to premix the oil & fuel right, and stay on top of the jetting (I might suggest scoping out the FAQ below). Ride hard and have fun...
