go right to .030" off, you won't have problems. plenty safe @ 92 octane.

i forgot to post pics of my homemade handlebar risers. i'll have to do that.

the reason some people apply lube to the head studs and nuts, is to reduce the friction between the stud threads and the nut studs, for a more accurate torqueing of the nuts. this is called "wet torque". some may apply the lube so the nut doesn't seize to the stud.

my shee beats my buddies ds 650 no problem. that was even before i did half to it, of what i have done. he even has a white bros pipe, k&n filter, and what ever else. the boost port is the little port directly above the 2 intake ports. you can shave the stock head a safe .030". it will give you more compression and will wake the bottom to mid up. you won't need to run anything more than 92 octane after shaving the .030" off. start @ 1-1/2 to 2 turns out on air screws w/the 300 mains. if you want your head shaved, i can do it for you.

no you won't have to mess with needles or mains. if i were you, i would have gotten the carbon tech reed petals. i've had the boyessen power reeds and now have the boyessens and like the carbon techs more.
-
i also use the belray gear saver.

i don't know if this is a poor mans part, but i did this when i needed a new cover anyway, but wanted something that was more bling-bling. also, here is a pic of my airbox lid mod.....it did make a difference.
-
yes you will need to go bigger than 230. i can't believe that you aren't at like a 260 or larger now. i would start at 280-300 mains. what elevation and temp are you going to be riding in?

what are you guys running for gearing?
mopar1rules replied to mopar1rules's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i just noticed that my shee has a 14t sprocket....not a 15t. so, i accidently got a 16t, cause i thought i had a 15t. well, now i don't need the 16t, i need to get a 15t. anyone want to buy a brand new in the package 16t moose sprocket? $15 shipped. -
i got that cd off of ebay for the $6 and its junk. only tells you the stuff you already know....smooth exhaust, match sleeve ports to casting ports, etc. i just ported my own shee 2 weeks ago with the stage 3 race logic template. it took me 11.5 hours. it made a noticable difference in power. pulls like a mutha in midrange and top. if you have the tools, a steady hand, and know what changes to "this" or "that" will or will not do, then go for it. thing is, you can't smooth everything, ports will need to be deburred, and cylinders need to be honed after porting. so, there are some little things that you will need to know, when doing the work yourself. another thing is to have a port job that compliments the pipes you are running, and the type of riding that you do.
-
agreed.....i don't know why it hasn't been stickied up there already. oh yeah, stock mains on a banshee are 200-210 (manual says so).
-
i don't care..... you still have to throw in a 300 main at least. throw in a 310 or 300 main and try there.
-
yeah, 50:1 is leaner "OIL" wise vs 32:1...yes, but 50:1 will allow more "FUEL" to pass through the jets, so its richer "FUEL" wise. brian102, you could drop your mains 1 size on those warmer days, but i would still switch to 50:1 ratio.
-
bore sizes go up in increments of .010". some brands are in increments of .020".
-
if you are running it without a lid on the airbox, i wouldn't even think about running a main jet smaller than 300. also, you probably have to up your pilots to 27.5, if you are still running the stock 25's. if you have the 25's in, you can try your air screws at like 1 turn out. even tho your buddy had luck with his jetting spec before, every shee can act a little different, as every engine doesn't respond the exact same to the same mods.

all balls swing arm bearing kit......
mopar1rules replied to monster_energy06's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i had a moose racing kit and experienced the same problems. seals wouldn't fit for shit. now i think at least one, if not the two of 'em are starting to pop back out. just fuckin junk. getting nothing but genuine yamaha parts from now on. getting real sick and tired of this aftermarket bullshit. -
what are you guys running for gearing?
mopar1rules replied to mopar1rules's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i doubled checked and my rear sprocket is 40 tooth. i ordered a 16 tooth front sprocket, to gear it taller, cause i has more than enough balls to pull the current gearing. i hope this works good. -
i have the smallest rear sprocket (i think a 40 or 41 tooth) available from parts unlimited for my shee and a 15 tooth front sprocket. all the mods to my shee are in my sig. it seems to pull great, but hits top end too quick. seems like my gearing could be taller. what do you guys think and run for gearing on your ported shee's?
-
yeah, 32:1 is overkill. many will tell you differently though. i know a couple folks by me, that run their trials bikes @ 80:1. they are running a fully synthetic amsoil of course. you have mobil 1 synthetic, which is very good also. you wouldn't have to run any richer than like 45:1 for sure. just run it at 50:1 and you'll be ok.

the drain plug is only for the trans oil. you will have to just have to split the cases and flush the crank bearings and crank case out then, and inpsect bearings for damage. then get new crank seals and reseal the cases with some threebond 1194. that chick is just fuckin smokin hot!!
