  1. ...could possibly the float height, like a few others suggested ...could also be the needle being bad. pull out the needle from the seat, and see if it has a ridge or something wore in it. ...check needle first, cause if its bad, no sense in adjust the float height.
  2. what was the temp, elevation, and the current jetting you were running when it went down?
  3. so, then the vito & wsm pistons are junk? do they not hold up to their 6hp midrange and 8hp top end claim? I've delt more with snowmobiles, where we used wiseco pistons, but with the atv's, there are more choices of different brand pistons, so i don't know whos are the best. i plan on porting my banshee myself, using one of those race logic templates, so then wouldn't i see some kind of a gain from the vito's or wsm's with the larger intake ports? i have fmf fatty pipes now, running into fmf power core II silencers. the carbs are stock bore, but i have the snorkel removed from airbox, with a k&n. i'm going to be soon changing to a foam uni-filter, cause it seems like the k&n passes too much debris through.
  4. ok, i wont waste my money on them then. thanks guys for all the input and helping me save $40.
  5. guys say that on larger cc engines then they would help. how big of an engine would i need to make them do something? mine is i think 362cc (.040" over).
  6. did you seem to get more horsepower out of them, due to the larger intake ports on the piston and the additional port on top of the 2 big ports?
  7. how about the wsm teflon coated pistons? they say that the intake ports on the piston are bigger and that there is a extra intake hole added towards the top of the piston. here is a link to the other ones that i was interested in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...471703&rd=1
  8. so, i guess i'll just save the money then. do they at least help out throttle response?
  9. so, it sounds like they are worth the $40 then...huh?
  10. are the vito superstock forged pistons really worth the $238? they claim 6hp in the midrange and 8hp on the top end. do they really work well? how do the pistons make more hp? are the intake ports on the piston sides bigger or something, to really let the air/fuel into the cylinders?
  11. i was looking at purchasing a set of vito reed spacers for my banshee. are they really worth the $40? do they improve the low end and midrange enough that it can be felt by the seat of the pants? how badly does it affect jetting? if it affects it, would it richen it or lean it?
  12. how tight of a squish band can i run, without running into deto problems on 93 octane? my dome on the stock head is obviously to the stock bore in diameter, but my cylinders are bored out .040" over. should i make the diameter of the dome on my stock head to the same size, while its off for me to take the additional .015" off that you suggested? i kinda figured i wouldn't get anyone to tell me certain dimensions for a head mod, but it was worth a try. i see what you are saying....some don't want to let the cat out of the box.
  13. i'm new to this forum (my 1st post actually) and to the banshee's and would like to know whats the best aftermarket head to use on my '98 shee. i have some mods done to it, which i think are visible in my signature or avatar. i'm at 1,000 ft above sea level, so what would be my best cc size domes to run. i would like to trail ride this quad, so high comp domes needing to run pure race gas is out of the question. here's what i'm thinking of doing......pro design or noss machine head w/20cc-22cc domes. or is there some cheap performance to be had out of the stock head. i'm a machinist, so i can mod the stock head. last year i took .005" off the head to bump the comp up a little bit and just flatten it back up, but i was thinking of playing with the dome/squish band for this year. if anyone can tell me what to do on the stock head, or has a print with dimensions that i could follow, that would be great. i was thinking that the downside to using the stock head is that i wouldn't have the improved cooling that i would recieve with an aftermarket billet head, but i haven't had any overheating issues with it ever anyways. any tips and comments are appreciated.
