  1. mine is kinda weird like that too. my pipes are both coloring the same, but the plugs show that the left side is a little leaner. still safe. i've checked my shee for airleaks many times, but never find any. its been doing this always, after every rebuild....same thing. shee runs great so i'm not going to worry about it.
  2. also, if you have the dynojet kit and are running their needles, you probably could drop the needles 1 clip position (cause those needles are rich) and that would help it not be as loaded up on the bottom. what pilots are you currently running? what elevation/temps are you riding at?
  3. i like to set people on the safe/rich side to start with, and let them decide weather they need to drop down on jet sizes. yeah, he'll probably end up at like 300 or 320 mains. remember, he's got an open airbox w/k&n filter and pipes.
  4. ....but you also have the k&n pod filters, which will increase the main jet size like 2-4 sizes.
  5. what fmf pipes you got? you are probably going to be at like a 330-350 main jet, with stock needles on 4 clip postion (coming down from flat end), 27.5 pilots and 1-1/2 or 2 turns out on air screws.
  6. how did you like 'em?
  7. if someone is looking for a set of aftermarket pipes to put on their banshees, here ya go. here's a chance to save some cash while get some pipes for a good price. just found it, and thought someone out there could benefit from it. http://www.startinglineproducts.com/catalo...p;productID=981
  8. after reading the topics 1st post over, i think that he should up his mains as well. i see he said that he's at like 330 and i would suggest going to like 340 or 350. i wouldn't go any leaner than the middle clip position on the needle for sure. if i was you, i would richen the needles 1 clip position (like i stated a few posts ago) and jump the mains to 350. also, you can try the 30 pilots, or leave the 27.5's in for now and then run w/the air screws at like 1 turn out.
  9. one of my buddies who does shocks, is going to help me, but he said he needs to know what the piston or float height (i think that's what he said) gets set at and how much psi of nitrogen we put in this thing. does anyone know this? jbooker82, yeah that would be an easy route, but would hurt my shallow pocket book, and then there wouldn't be a learning experience involved
  10. you said the 27.5 pilots took care of most of the bog? i would try 30 pilots now, or richen the needle clip 1 postition and see if the bog is totally gone. what mains are you running again?
  11. yes, fattys seem to like the 27.5 pilots. mine is currently running 30 pilots, but i'll soon be trying 32.5's. he has pod filters, which are getting more air into the engine and he has fatty pipes. thats good enough for me to say, you need at least 27.5 pilots and like 300-320 mains. leave the needles alone and put the air screws at 2 turns out from lightly seated/closed. do this and report back.
  12. the stock rear shock on my '98 shee, is in dire need of a rebuild. i never rebuilt a shock before, but am going to atempt it. i have a haynes manual, and it doesn't say anywhere about how to rebuild the rear shock, so i'm going to ask you guys. do any of you know how to do it? have any of you done it before, or even found a better setup than stock? i weigh 140lbs and just play around in fields for the most part, but am planning on playing around on a friends track, so jumping is in the future. so, if anyone knows the step by step procedure, can you please pass it my way? also, this topic might be a good one to turn into a sticky, for the folks in the future that want to rebuild their stock rear shock.
  13. you need to put in at least 27.5 pilots. change the pilots to 27.5 and the mains to 310 and report back.
  14. ahhh, i see...i was just getting confused...lol.
  15. yeah, i would up the pilots to 27.5 and possibly even up the mains to 270 or 280.
  16. who are you referring too...me or paddleboy?
  17. well, i tried a set of 30 pilots today and it got better. needle 1 clip richer than stock too. bog still there, but close to gone. i'm going to order some 32.5 pilots and try them this week. yeah, you ain't a kidding that every bike acts different......i wouldn't have thought that i would be richening the needles and going so big with the pilots, as most others on here don't need to perform this drastic of a change with their pilots.
  18. cool!!!!!!
  19. you're way lean. you need AT LEAST 280 mains. your pilots are fine, but start fatter at like 310 mains and see what you get. try that out and then report back.
  20. if i was you, i wouldn't be running mains smaller than 330. i would also be at 27.5 with the pilots. the needles sound fine, as the vito needles are richer anyhow. i think it got hot from being lean, and that's why the coolant came out the overflow. you said that the coolant level was fine before you went riding.
  21. i say carbon techs. i have the low tension carbon techs in mine. hey snope, i never knew that you could special order mid tension carbon techs.
  22. how well would the long rods on a stock stroke crank be as far as performance goes versus the 4mil options? how much are the 795 series pistons?
  23. i'm kinda tosing around the idea of going to a 4mil stroker and my current cylinders have the race logic stage 3 port job. what will i need to do, to make my current ported cylinders work? i know head mod for sure, but what else?
  24. yeah, i kinda have the same low end bog that you have. i have same pipes too. i have 27.5 pilots in it now, needle on 4th clip from flat end, 2 turns on air screws, and the bog has gotten smaller. i'm going to try a 30 pilot today and see if the bog is gone totally. kinda weird, cause plugs show way rich (look like you dunked 'em in black paint), but the way it runs with that little bog tells a different story....especially how the bog is going bye bye when i'm richening things up. i forgot to say that i have 360 mains right now, but i'm also ported besides.
  25. snope, the fattys are good trail pipes? i thought they gave a nice boost all around?
