  1. The Kawasaki KDX has a lower seat height and is one of the best trail bikes ever made. Check one of those out.
  2. Overall it looks like a nice machine. Welcome!
  3. To what I was saying, deals like this can be found everywhere in this economy. I don't know the guy, but I can tell looking at various points on the machine that this bike was taken care of. 2007 Yamaha YZ250
  4. Recently rode a 2008 (yes that is correct, a 2008) YZ250. By far the best two stroke bike in the modern era of MX. Not easy to find 2007s at dealerships ever since the AMA changed the rules. Two strokes have made a somewhat surprising comeback in the 250 class.
  5. Not sure but I am leary of running without a lid when I upgrade my air filtration soon to something better. Yeah I already know that the lid chokes the intake system. Saw one of these on Ebay and later on BikeBandit.com. Did a search on BansheeHQ and no info. So has anyone tried this and what is your opinion? Ebay K&N Air Box Lid
  6. I seen a CR500 rigged up with a quick mount start. Pretty cool engineering. Agree though on leg starting a CR500. If you want to say you've done it all kick start and old Maico 510. Even with the decompression release it has been known to break legs.
  7. A friend of mine pointed out that the reason the newer 4 stroke Yammies seems better is that they have enjoyed more technology upgrades over time much more so than the Banshee. As pointed out, the technology on a Banshee is that the motor is 80s technology, the brakes are 90s and the suspension somewhere in between. Whey you see a YZF you are seeing the latest Tech on the market and the machine feels "new". Personally I love two strokes and how much cheaper they are to own than a four stroke, but the YZF is a very fine machine. If I had never rode a Banshee before buying the one I have I would have bought a YFZ not knowing any better. Its that good.
  8. Buy a good used pick up truck then. (with gas prices they are giving them away now) Or a clunker car and a trailer. Selling a Cobra mustang is a huge mistake. The 98s are good looking too!
  9. Whenever I restore anything with plastic I use Mop and Glo to wash the shee and I don't rinse but take a dry towel and wipe it down. The plastic and metal glow when you are done. The key though is to pressure wash first to remove grime and debris. Here is my '88 CR125 after doing the deal: Once I restore that pipe this winter that bike will look almost as good as new.
  10. Dyno Tuning is hands down THE best way to do a deal like that. The numbers tell you when you got it right.
  11. One way you can figure out volumetric efficiency and flow is to take it to a place that can test the overall flow of the ports. Once that is done all the math can be figured from that.
  12. If you are bothered at leaving spark plug wires hanging unplug your cdi. No spark then. No wondering "what if"
  13. The gear ratio is too high. First take the gearing back to stock and work from their. 16 front is too much. If you leave the rear gear at 38 at least run a 13 front.
  14. To those asking about the chassis: That is a stock CR chassis with a polished swingarm. The suspension is all late model CR with redone valving as well. The CR 250s after '96 all had aluminum frames. The '97-99s were super stiff and the bike was difficult to ride. The 2000 and later were better. I never said it was safe to ride, just that it is fast. The dude who rides it can ride.
  15. Squeese those legs up against the frame. Get frame guards if you plan on jumping to keep it protected. The frame paint will wear off bad where your feet rub up against it.
  16. No, I wish I could lay claim to that work of art, someone I know did.
  17. Using today's technology of suspension and brakes, a brutal 250R two stroke motor you would have this: This thing is something you really don't want to race if you see it around. Just thought I would give you some Eye Candy since we all love two strokes!
  18. It took me a while to unload and shower up but had a safe drive home. Had a blast today and really want to do this again sometime. Maybe we can have a bigger turnout, but today's was a good number. One of my moto buddies asked if bikes could come because he likes sand and will bring a tent and grill. I could bring beverages for everyone and make it a better deal. At least we could eat and recharge ourselves. Just a thought.
  19. Oh yeah! I'm all over it! We need to finalize the parking spots, and if they are let me know where.
  20. Adjustable Stator plate and setup for *4 advance. It'll make a big difference.
  21. I have Works Shocks on my list of things to buy this winter. On the "Mandatory upgrades" list no less along with some Pro Circuit exhaust plumbing.
  22. Sunny and a high of *78! Should be a good time for the ones showing up for a good time!
  23. The YFZ can be used for MX, trail, and of course it is tough as hell and I would buy it and ride it until the wheels fell off. Save the stress on your Banshee. Yeah, its a four stroke and kind of heavy, but its not that bad a sled really for riding.
  24. So are we still on for this upcoming weekend? The 9-7 hours are for Summertime only. Let me tell you though.....you'll be tired after 4 or 5 hours of the stuff we can do there. Trust me on that. The Orange trail will fix that problem.
