  1. I love those LEs. I looked around for one and "settled" on a plane jane model. TORS is a stupid design. It causes more headaches than happiness or safety.
  2. Sounds like you really use whatever you have. If the Banshee isn't a millstone around your neck with trouble, I would just rebuild it since it works good for what you need.
  3. Did he tell you it had issues starting before you all agreed to anything? It is probably just me but when I go to buy something and little things pop up that were never mentioned or I had even thought to ask, I am usually wondering what else is their that I don't know about.
  4. Speaking of four cylinder projects: Four Cylinder Sled for Sale! Possibly you could mount one in a Quad with some creative skills.
  5. Got a set just like them on mine now. Only the guy I got mine said they came of an '81 Yamaha SRV snowmobile.
  6. I'd rather see a hot milf than some screwed up who-gives-a-rats-ass project anyway. I'm sure it could be done, but why?
  7. When I was a teen living in Upstate NY I used to race snowmobiles on Long Lake NY. The requirement was 6-8 inches because they would line up each heat into 4 machines. The worst time to race was late March because of the pressure peaks you would get on the lake from currents under the ice. Well if you weren't paying attention that sled would hit one of those and your day was done at that point. Some would get as high as 2 feet up and acted like a ramp. Sounds fun until you are topped out. Just be careful is all I'm sayin. 4 inches is plenty for one machine.
  8. I'm close. Dude I got these from is bringing over a jet kit with fatter needles. She'll be running right soon. I have to get some reeds for this thing though. Not much sense in leaving the stock setup.
  9. Go ahead and take it out on the lake. What can go wrong?
  10. Okay.....we all know this guy is not from this planet, but here is the problem with doing a custom Shee: Nobody but the members of this board really understand that is a nice one. Sure, its not worth but probably half that amount but it a properly done machine.
  11. I traded for mine. Not sure what the value of them would be. They are clean and were kept in good shape.
  12. That looks like a good deal.
  13. Did the search and nothing is identical to my setup but from what I gather 28s are not a whole lot different except you have to run aftermarket reeds to let the engine breath. (not a necessity if you don't care about performance) Pro Circuit Pipes, Open air box, 28 mm Mikunis and soon Boyesen Pro Reeds (carbon fiber reeds) . what should be my jetting? Elevation here is probably 500 ft above sea level.
  14. Take an ice pick or awl or even an scribe and trace the characters and expose them. After they are showing take clear nail polish and coat the etchings.
  15. Does the shop you are wanting to buy it from have the lien? Or is the lien from somewhere else? From what I understand about this is that a shop can't just sell off someone's stuff until they give the owner reasonable amount of time to make good on the bill. What the shop has to do is get a notorized letter from the owner releasing liability of sale. Once that is done the shop has to transfer ownership of the title to themselves and then can they legally sell it. If it is not done this way the cops can show up at your house, take your ride, and give it back to the owner and you will be in trouble. The shop you bought it from will have their place rid of something taking up space and will have to refund you your money, but why hassle with it? Let this one go.
  16. Sounds like some of you guys need a Clarke 5 gallon fuel cell on those Shees!
  17. When I ran pipes and the lid off I found out my needles are too thin and it is way too rich on the low end. I would buy a jet kit that allows needle changes. Mine smokes like no tomorrow with stock needles and lowered to even the second slot on the needle.
  18. Whatever you don't use let me have!
  19. I just put Pro Circuits on my Shee and still need to finish jetting it. I can let you know by next weekend if they were worth putting on or not. I can tell you they sound pretty good and just putting around the yard a little they have some decent low end.
  20. If this is a rebuild I compression test first thing so I have a benchmark number. Then I richen up the jetting a jet or two and let it run for about twenty minutes at about 1/8th to maybe 1/4 throttle. Let it cool down, and run another compression test and see if the numbers are real close. If it is close you can run it hard if you want.
  21. When I saw this thread I was thinking "Uh Oh" "Not this again"
  22. I guess the line then is upgrades vs. configuration changes. Putting on strong rims and grippier tires are upgrades, but does a 4 mil deal negate it still being a Banshee?
  23. The VHT paint has to be baked on. Brake calipre paint does not. You do need to layer both types however in thin coats.
