Most shops of any quality here in the Midwest run about $300 dollars. One shop not far from me sandblast it as part of the service for what you are paying for. There is one place in Indy that will clean the welds and redo a lot of the slop from the manufacturer, Soda blast it (soda blasting is the best because it won't pit the metal and is used by a lot of car restoration shops), then powder coat it. One thing I saw that was cool was an aluminum coat type stuff then powder coated clear over that and it looked close to chrome. Pretty cool what you can get done if you have the money to do it.
