  1. That was good! Glad everyone was alright.
  2. I paid $420 for a good used set, but that is too much. I've seen them go for around $250 on here. If it is a local sale you may want to fit them on your machine before you buy them. A few of us with those pipes have an issue with the right side sandwiching the coolant hose coming out of the water pump. I wouldn't have bought mine if I had known this. IDK what the difference is going from your DG's, probably have a little better overall powerband with the SST's, they are FMF's top of the line pipes.
  3. That does it, my air filter is going in the garbage right now!
  4. I'd just give it to him, he's prolly a swell guy
  5. Hard to answer that one. Could be less than an hour if the top-end was rebuilt poorly. From a diagnostic standpoint, this is why you should get an accurate compression test after a fresh rebuild is broken in. You can them gauge how worn your top end is down the road. I have about 40 hours on my top-end, always warm the bike up completely before riding, and haven't lost a pound of compression yet. I also did plug chops to make sure my mains were on spec. Do this crap and your top end will last a while!
  6. Definitely do some jetting research while your waiting for your parts to come in! Make sure you don't have any air leaks when you put her back together.
  7. So you have a shaved head (150p.s.i)? Still should be o.k. to run on pump gas, I would think. Too bad you didn't get to check the compression on both sides before the fact. Is the motor still locked? If not, what are the compression numbers now?
  8. Let it warm up til the head/cylinder is hot to the touch. Not overheating, mind you.
  9. Be sure to let us know if you part it out. (dibs on the front end)
  10. You should synch the carbs, just to rule that out. It can't hurt
  11. Never know, but I prefer a builder that can spell "build" correctly, at least once! At least he abbreviated "mechanic", I don't think he had a chance in hell of gettin' that one!
  12. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but you can buy a built bike on here for 3-4K. Not always within driving distance, however. There is something to be said for a bike for sale in the neighborhood.
  13. Hmmm, did you try tightening it?????? Could have some play in the bushings, those are cheap.
  14. Didn't realize you were besting those bikes, also!
  15. When Michigan is out of the picture (ahem), I am a closet Longhorns Fan. Hook 'em, Horns!
  16. If it truly looks like metallic paint it could be your clutch fiber plates. Maybe this is normal with a new clutch? IDK
  17. I never had an issue once I followed the torquing sequence with loctite.
  18. For the hell of it I'd call Jeff@FAST. He'll hook you up if he can, no doubt
  19. Did you have the mains dialed in? Could be a little rich in the hot&nasty. Also sounds like a stator problem I had with my R, with the rev limiter shit
  20. I wanna go fast!
  21. IDK if just the silencers will change anything dramatically, I'll let someone else chime in. Learn to do a plugchop to dial in your main jets. Look up FASTOYS, he has the link in his signature. If you have not yet purchased the silencers, I'd hold off. Scrounge around on here; there are alot of good deals on used pipes/silencers, as well a a new air filter setup to let that baby breathe!
  22. Are you getting the head pipes/expansion chambers as well? You do not have to buy carbs, you will have to change your jetting if you currently have stock pipes.
