  1. the mains will fit all VM, TM & TMX model Mikunis. and like Hilarious said the pilots are banshee specific
  2. damn you. just got done paying bills and I'm B-R-O-K-E!!! :: now I got to scrounge some cash together to pick one up to add to my RC quad collection. what ya gonna do.
  3. join the club. I just started doing my own too. just didn't want to be dippin' into chase's kool-aid.
  4. if you want to dump the lid and use the K&N, get the plastic version of the adapter plate from Alba. they're like $20 http://alba.buyol.com/Item/PD201AJ%2DP.htm
  5. Damn straight. Never assume that cause you rode one R that was running weak that all of them run that way. I've rode a couple that would make you shit yourself when you dumped the clutch. these things were rockets in a straight line and you would run out of space before you ran out of gears. Mine was in sad shape when I bought it, but it's a strong bike now and will be even stronger and faster once I get it finally dialed in.
  6. reeds are small flaps of typically either metal, plastic, rubber, carbon fiber, or a combination of the afore mentioned. they are attached to a to a hollow triangular block and act as a check valve to basically keep the compressed air/fuel mix from forcing it's way backwards through the intake system. porting is the act of enlarging or modifying the intake & exhaust openings and or the small pockets or cavities(ie. ports) along the inner walls of the cylinder in order to improve prefomance. domes can either refer to the concave inner surface of the stock cylinder head cap where the compression is made or it can refer to the inter-changable concave insert used by many aftermarket companies in their replacement performace cylinder head caps to allow adjustable compression ratios. T.O.R.S.= Throttle Over-Ride System. it is basically an emergency electronic killswitch with senser switches in the the parking brake switch, thumb throttle housing, and both carb caps that in case of a stuck open throttle/carb, by letting off the throttle fully, the TORS module will kill the electrical system and stop the bike. the +2 or +1 generally refers to any part that is longer, wider or relocated from a stock position. in the case of a +2 axle that would mean that it is 2" wide that a stock axle would be giving more stability. or like in the case of A-arms a set of +2+1 arms would mean that they 2" wider from stock moving the wheels 2" farther out from the frame while the +1 is moving the spindles the wheels mount to 1" farther forward thus making the front end wider and a longer wheel base( distance between front and rear wheels) basically making more stability. a jet kit is an an assortment of different size brass fittings(jets) and needles used to adjust and regulate the amount and flow of air and fuel that mix together as it passes through the carb. the system of metering and controlling the amounts of air and fuel mixing to cause the proper level of combustion in the cylinder. since your new to 2 strokes and to ATV's in general, do your self a favor and invest in a Clymer's Repair manual for it. it is like the Banshee Bible and many of the others on here will swear by it. it is the best reference book you can ever get and basically anyone with average skill with tools and the book can use it to do most repairs themselves.
  7. for a billit one your Yammie dealer might be able to order one, but check w/ Alba, ModQuad, Cascade, Rockey Mountain or about a hundred more places that sell Banshee parts. If they sell aftermarket Banshee stuff, they almost always have billit "bling" stuff too.
  8. I'm hearing the same thing about those new Renegades froma few guys I know. they're saying the thing is built like a tank( like most utes) but the thing hauls ASS!! I'll believe it when I see it myself, but w/ an 800 in it, it's got to have some kinda cahones cause thats a damn big motor.
  9. Dunno yet myself. just started seeing ads for it today and never seem to see the whole thing.
  10. http://www.uppracing.com/index.php?cid=94 here's the install directions for a UPP brand one. should be similar to the one you got.
  11. I got one sitting on a shelf in the garage if your interested
  12. cause up til the last few years 4 stroke sport machines were the red-headed bastard child of the sport/racing scene. especially w/ the dirtbikes.
  13. "If 4-strokes were so fast, I'd be reading your shirt!!" just made a decal that says that for my truck and and I have a shirt that says it too. (courtesy of the guys at E2S)
  14. dunno bout that man, a lot of companies are starting to drop or discontinue R parts. I just recently got the last inner clutch hub from Hinson's warehouse. asked if they were gonna make more and they said they were eventually dropping the other parts too. bad sign there.
  15. Ok. got to look for the other book then. had the 85-89 ATC & TRX book, got to find the early ATC book cause there is a MAJOR difference between the 84's and the '86's like for starters a completely different engine.
  16. What year is it or better yet what's the carb model #?? the # is stamped on the side just above the bowl. I got the stock jetting charts right here in front of me.
  17. First what kinda carb it on it?? the Keihin PE/PJ or an aftermarket. the # is stamped on the side just above the bowl. let me know and what mods it has and we'll go from there, cause it sounds like your WAY lean according to the charts I have.
  18. That's the rumor. been floating around for like a year now. but recently the rumor has evolved to Yamaha is toying with the idea of stuffing the engine from their new Phazer FX snowmobile into a quad chassis. the new Phazer 500 has a EFI liquid-cooled, five valve twin cylinder in it. In the Aug. ATV action is a 2 page article on it and how Yamaha invited them to "test" their new smowmobile. and it's also mentioned in the new Quad Off-Road Magazine. they only show a 2 page pic of Kory Ellis jumping the snowmobile w/ a capition reading "Where's the wheels? Yamaha invited us to ride it's newest snowmobile, the Phazer, so we went along for the ride. While we're going to stick with four-wheeled machines, we have to admitt this was fun." So either yamaha is testing the water and going to use the rumors as a guide for a new model or they are just messing with us.
  19. a case splitter tool is for vertically splits cases like you'd find on dirtbikes, most motorcycles and most ATV's. but you won't need it. banshee engines use a horizontal split case. here is MotionPro's case splitter tool for those who have nevver seen one. http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/...kcase_splitter/
  20. I did the same thing on my brand new Hinson inner hub for my R 2 weeks ago. DOH!!! just been to busy(or lazy) to get it out.
  21. Do you mean shooting powder over an already chromed part?? you could, but I don't know how well it would stay adheared to the chrome plating though. I got the same set-up from eastwood about a month ago too and have done a few test pieces for a few friends which looked to trun out pretty good and just waiting for them to real world test them and get back to me on how it's holding up. used the heat lamp on those parts myself, just got to get the garage re-arranged so I can get my freebie oven in there so I can really crank out some parts. now I got guys coming out of the woodwork wanting stuff done. :baseball_shocked: did you get the book w/ it too??
  22. hey like my buddy at work says, "if ya play, ya gotta pay." and don't I know it.( that's just the 3 running ones in my sig. there are 2 more project scattered thoughout the garage)
  23. What do you care. Do me a favor and go play in traffic.
  24. it is simulated. it's a laminate film or something they put over it when they mold it. I could see where it flowed over the edges on the back side of mine when I installed the flame grill. it's an OEM part, they're always pricey.
