I run toomey's 2-1 and I ride all kinds of conditions with no problems. Granted I don't cross deep water (at least not deep enough to get up to my filter). I'm happy with it though. It's more up and out of the way than the clamp on (pod) filters.

This should really be in the jetting forum, but first off altitude and temp. is going to play a part in your jetting too. I'd buy some 300's and 290's too. Try the 300's first, then work your way down till it revs out clean. Better to start rich and lean it out to the right main. You should get needles in that kit too I think. If I remember right they are dynojet needles. T run mine in the 4th clip position down from the blunt end. Out of 6 positions on the dynojet needles. (stock has 5)

You didn't say what he offered to do to the pistons for you, but I wouldn't want to have anyone screwing with my pistons. I'm not saying the guy doesn't know what he is doing, I'd just rather not take any chances for what will probably not even be a noticable about of performance increase. Just my .02

Hell, you get to have a tornado party and a birthday party all in one. When I used to live in Kansas us and the neibors would always have parties when there were tornado warnings.

Well, according to webster's being a pro doesn't mean you are good at it. It just means you are doing it for money. So yeah, the dealers are big time pros.

Pull the old motor, insert cr500 motor, mix gas and smile -
I wouldn't even risk opening it up long enough for a plug chop. Throw some 280's in it needle in the 4th clip and start tuning it in from there.

Clean the carbs, (make sure you do the pilot jets) and check the choke tube. The choke tube is a peice of fuel line that's a couple inches long and connects the carbs together. It just runs strait accross the inside from one carb to the other. If plugs are dry though, it seems to me it should be caused by something that prevents fuel from getting to both cylinders. Is the gas on, fuel petcock or lines clogged?

We bought my kid (he's a rather small 9 year old) the polaris 90. It runs pretty good. It hauls my 170lbs around pretty decent. Comes with a helmet too.

Yeah, I'd say all in all, that ditch turned out to be a pretty good investment for Ellison.

Noss heads are nice, I have one too, but you really need pipes and a filter set up before you spend the cash for a new head.

I've never used the honda stuff, but I've heard it's pretty good. I'd check your filter (better yet throw it away and buy a K&N or other aftermarket). You said it runs real strong, so I'm assuming there are no bogs or flat spots in the power dellivery? Are you using the correct plugs? You said it's stock, and your dealer said to run that oil, so am I right in guessing that it's a new bike? -
Glad everything worked out for you. You should at least run a compression test on it. That will let you know if it's time to rebuild. Did the seller tell you what size domes were in the head? You could be running too high of compression for your elevation / octaine. Either way, I'd check the compression as a safety measure.

I'd start by cleaning your carbs and see what that does for you. You also may want to spell it banshee... Just a thought

What he said^. If you are riding in the dirt, you don't want to go to a 13. I run a 15 on the front for dirt. To start with I'd try running him on the pavement if you can. That will solve the shee's traction issues.
-
That sucks ass! Thanks for the tip though.

That's great and all, and it would be a good way for you to make some extra cash for your banshee and what ever else. But, I don't think that dropping out of school at 15 is in your best interest. I can speak from experience, trust me. I think working for your brother part time, to make some cash and get some experience on the boat while you finish school would be a good idea. And after that if it's still what you want to do, go for it. Just my .02

I run a Noss head too, and I think they are great. What mods do you have now? If you are looking for a way to increase your peformance so that you can beat your buddy, there may be better options. Like porting. Also, traction plays a big part with a shee. If you can't get traction, you will lose. And above all, practice. There is no replacement for experience.

One day, a friend of mine and me decided to go hunting. So we bought a bunch of beer and headed up into the woods. Well, a few hours later we were out of beer, so we went back to town bought more and headed back out. Needless to say by now we were pretty drunk, we managed to get his truck stuck. Well along came the prison work camp van. The guard had the prisoners push us out,(one fell face first in the mud) then told us to keep the truck on the road. Some how this guy never noticed we were wasted. Well we went up the road about 2 miles, and were off down some muddy road again, where we got stuck again. This time nobody came to help and we ended up walking 27 miles in the rain. When a car finally did pick us up it was 1 am, and the guy was on his way to work, so we went to his work to call someone to help us. Well, guess what... The guy worked at the prison work camp. (This was like 8 years ago, so please hold the drinking and driving/hunting comments, I don't do it anymore.)

Sounds like a gimmic to me.

I wish I was back home so I could go to the meeting. I'm from Florence Or., but I'm stationed in Alaska right now. That's a bunch of bull shit though. Hell, that's the only reason anyone goes to the central Oregon coast. If you shut down the dunes the state will suffer in lost $

You also may want to look at your reeds.

I have T6's too, Mine run great. I don't have any dunes here, but I run 15-41 gears on fire roads, and where ever else I happen to end up, and I have no problems with mine What jetting are you running?
