  1. You will want to get it ported. Porting you motor gives you a good gain in power and lets you "tune" your motor to the type of riding you do. Not to mention that with a 4 mil crank you should really have it ported to compensate for your new crank. PM "fastoys" that's Jeff from F.A.S.T. or "passionre" that's Jim from passion, both of them are well trusted builders who can point you in the right direction as well as do the work for you.
  2. I'd use my .338 win mag. Moose aren't overly tough animals (like elk are) but they are big mofos. Might as well do some damage. Besides I would feel better cruisin around grizzly country with a big rifle (and maybe a .454). I carry my .44 mag anywhere I go outside of town (I'm in Alaska). I'd carry a .454 too but I don't have one . I agree with DaFish that duck and goose hunting rocks, but big game hunting is amazing on it's own. It's a very primal natural feeling wandering around in the woods with a weapon looking for an animal to kill so that you can take it home and feed your family. It's hard to explain, but I'm sure most of you have done it at one time or another.
  3. This made me damn near spit whiskey and coke on the screen.
  4. Give a hillbilly a pair of vice grips, a welder and a box of beer and we'll get'er done! That's a pretty cool buggy man.
  5. What ever you decide on make sure you really think about it. And listen to older people when deciding on it. (I know I'm sounding like an old cranky bastard) I've got 6 tats all of them from between 18 and 22. They are all jail house tats done by friends and myself (some not bad quality) but my point is now that I'm 29 skulls and shit that older people said was a bad idea seem pretty stupid to me now. I swore up and down that I'd like them when I got older and slayer rocked , but like it or not you do grow up. Not telling you not to, just think about your optio0ns before you settle on one.
  6. That's bad ass . Have you ever seen a moose close up? God damn things are huge. Be glad your using a guide service. I've lived in Alaska the last 3 years, but I don't want to go moose hunting simply because I'm too lazy to make 15 trips back to the truck hauling meat. Hope you have a good time. Ohh yeah, PETA can kiss my ass, them and all their liberal hippy bullshit.
  7. That sucks ass man. I'm sure if she can drop that bomb on you with out talking about it at all, than your probably better off in the long run. Keep your head up. Good luck bro
  8. When I was in Iraq I picked up some fake oakleys (really cheap made ones) that said "oakey" on the side.
  9. David gives a discount for being a HQ member. I don't remember what it is for sure, but he is a hell of a good guy. PM him and ask for a price on what you want (silver or colored). The Noss heads use the stock studs, so you don't have to get new studs and change them out. This saves the possibility of breaking one, plus in the event you pinch an o ring and don't have any more on hand you can slap the stocker back on and still ride while waiting for new o rings. I've done it. It's built to an excellent quality standard, and cones with the benefit of having David (dlnoss) on here to answer questions about dome sizes etc. whenever you want.
  10. Notice where BenBB is looking!
  11. Well if you drove it a year and had never popped the hood that could explain why it ran like shit
  12. Lucky to get her back, a lot of people never do. Deffinatly post some pics
  13. Noss head is a good buy, but your sig says you already have your head shaved, so it may be better for you performance wise to get the reeds.
  14. I know someone who used to have one. The thing was back at the dealer so often for repairs he finally told them to shove it up their ass. I vote full size. I have a 2002 1/2 ton chevy 4x4 with the 5.3 liter, and I get pretty good milage as long as I'm not in the throttle too much. It's not a crew cab, but there is quite a bit of room in the extra cab of the chevys,(My kids fit fine) and it has the two little suicide doors for the back seat.
  15. I don't know about quads, but with a car a lot of white smoke is gasket. There are three jets in your carbs. The pilot is up to 1/8 throttle neelde from there to 3/4 then main. So if you ride you bike around for a while the check the plugs it won't tell you which circuit it running lean or rich. To check the main you have to run the bike wide open for ten seconds or so, then pull the clutch and shut her down. Check the plug as she sits, extra plugs are nice so you can swap them out and ride it back to the truck.
  16. I'd pull the cool head off, check all the o rings make sure they are all in good working order. Be sure to use some grease to hold them in place when you reassemble everything. If your stroke is stock and you have the correct pistons in there than you shouldn't be hitting the head. You also shouldn't have Det. with the fuel you are running. Check the head and let us know what happens.
  17. Spray the shit out of it with starting fluid/carb cleaner, when you spray it on the air leak the engine should rev.
  18. Try a 270 - 280 main, needle in the 4th clip position, and air screw 1 1/2 turns out (it will probably want a fatter pilot, fmf's seem to). From there you should be able to tune it in. Read the jetting FAQ sections, they will help you on how to adjust the jetting. If that doesn't help, let us know Also (and the FAQ section will tell you this) the pilot does the first 1/8 throttle, so if that is where the problem is at, it's not the needle that needs adjusting.
  19. I'm set up about the same, minus the v forces, and I run the 4th clip on the toomey needles. If you really want to know if it is better in another spot, give it a shot. I ran mine in the 5th clip when I was running it this last winter. Temps around 0 and below. It's not a big deal to run it in all three (3rd 4th and 5th) positions to find out what runs best. I hear the v forces run richer than stock, so I'd say maybe try the 3rd clip first and see if it's better than where you are at.
  20. What are you running for air filter set up? What about your elevation? It sounds like your jetted lean to me. But if it was actually correct before and and is lean now, look for an air leak first, before trying to rejet.
  21. Concider it a reason to spend more time on the HQ . Do you have any idea what you did?
  22. Listen to what he ^ said. I'd buy 300's through 330's for mains (they're cheap) and 27.5 piolots. Start with the 330's and work your way down till ir revs clean. I wouldn't bother with a 30 pilot. The 27.5 should do ya, hell with only pipes and filters you may be able to adjust your air screw with the 25's and be fine. It's all trial and error.
  23. WTF?? Umm, NO! You should have a 14 on front try running that first. If you think it's too high, then try a 13. You will probably be fine with the 14 though.
  24. Ha Not too bad.
  25. Getting a port job, will show a good power increase. It allows you to tailor your power to your type and style of riding. You shouldn't have any reliability issues as long as it is performed by a good builder. Also no need for race gas
