Yamaha Banshee (Green Sticker) MANY EXTRAS!
Handyman replied to DigglerD's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
How much you asking?? -
testing the waters to see if anyone is interested in trading a 660 or 450 for a 98 cr250. Here are the specs on the bike. 1998 Honda CR250. All new black Acerbis plastics. Motor has been "worked". I bought the bike from a guy that I worked with and which he raced. I don't have all the info on the motor except that it is bored to the max with out having to be resleeved(.080). FMF Gold seies Fatty pipe with stock muffler. I saw the guy race a few races and the bike was real damn fast. I can tell you that the bike has enough balls to keep up with a CR500 up to the top 4th gear. At the time of the race I weighed 150 and the guy on the CR500 weighed 130. The CR500 was piped and jetted and has some minor mods done to it. The front shocks do need to be rebuilt which I will have done before I trade or sell it as well as a full tune up. The bike doesn't have a lot of bling bling on it and I kept it as a sleeper, since all these guys on the new 450's think they are hot shit in my area. If I was to sell it I would ask $2000-$2500. I bought it for $3500. The bike has not been ridden maybe 2-3 times a month and not ridden hard. I have only fouled one plug in it because I was just learning how to ride and was babying it a little too much. This pic was taken right after I applied the graphics....The side graphics are no longer there due to some punk kid wanting them more than me.

if you sell your 450 how much you going to ask for it?

There's a couple active threads already that have been started by others with the same prob you are having. Try looking in some of those threads and see what they have done and try to see if what they have done will help you out.

OK I'm not sure what I did but it now runs like it's on NOS. I took everyone's advise on my last post and did a few things.... refer to....http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54099 ANyway here is what I did.. I took the spark plugs and swapped them from left to right, swapped the plug wires from left to right, took the carbs off and swapped the reeds from left to right. While the carbs were of I opened up the fuel bowls and visually checked for dirt and there was none. tapped the carbs on the ground to try to see if anything was knocked loose and I didn't see anything come loose. I put everything back together and took it for a quick spin down the street without the filters on, huge difference. I noticed a difference right when I started it and I noticed the exaust on the left side was considerably stronger than before. Put everything back together and took it for a spin and what a hell of a difference. I think the reeds are shot. So payday I'm buying some new reeds. I want to thank everyone for all the advise that you all offered. Now maybe I'll get the GPS out and see what this thing tops out at. I hope I can help you all out when needed when asked. thanks again.

I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the Boyesen pro series reeds. The reed cages are still stock and don't have the money to buy a new rad valve like I should.
-
Coreect me if I'm wrong......but I I don't think sync'ing the carbs will have any effect as far as altitude, I thought that was all jetting.......
-
Thanks for all the advise. I have tried swapping the wires and the problem never moved from one side to the other. I'll more than likely focus on the reeds for the next step in trouble shooting this problem this week. Thanks again.

For some of you here you may remember me with all my Banshee problems. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about......I bought a 99 banshee froma good friend and it was in tip top condition. Didn't know he installed new handle bars and connected the TORS wiring under the tank. Bike would idle but would not accelerate. Removed TORS and have had jetting probs ever since. I installed new pistons and bored it to the 2nd over size from stock due to low compression. I have read all info on this website that it has to offer and nothing seems to "CURE" the problem 100%. Specs: Stock carbs Main jet: 340 All other jetting: stock Needle: Stock, in 4th clip pos. Bored to 2nd over size Wiseco pistons K&N filter pods Pro Circuit Platinum pipes with T304 silencers TORS removal kit Elev: 250ft above seal level(acording to GPS) Temp. below 60 Here is what the bike is doing. it idles fine but the left side seems to be weaker than the right at the exaust. When I take it down the street the left side will not "come to life" until half way through 1st gear and about 3/4 into the throttle and then it fires fine. I removed the stock needles and installed the needles I got with my Dynajet stage 3 jet kit. I set the clip pos in the 3rd pos and left side was worse. I then set the clip to the 4th pos and it ran better but not by much. With every adjustment I have made the problem will not go away. I'm desperate to get this thing to run. I work with a bunch of people who ride and have asked me every weekend to go ride but I have to decline because this thing is not running correctly and I'm afraid of killing the engine because it's not running correctly. Here are some questions... 1. what will happen if I adjust just the left side carb to get it to work? 2.Do I need to adjust both carbs to keep from hurting the engine? 3. Can the reeds be the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated

When I had a stock engine, K&N filter pods, full PC system with T304 silencers I was running 290 mains clip in 4th position from top 400ft above sea level. Ran like a champ

TORS(Throttle Over Ride System) the main purpose of this is to keep you engine from blowing up if one slide gets stuck in the open position. There are sensors on top of each carb that senses the position of the slide in the carb. There is a sensor in the throttle housing that senses the position of the throttle. The sensor in the throttle housing and on top of the carbs sends a signal to a box(Located under the gas tank on the left side of the frame). When the position of either carb or the throttle position and carb slide positions don't match then the box will send a signal to the ignition box and the ignition will be adjusted to keep your engine from blowing. In another words......get rid of it because when it gets wet enough it will reak havoc and become a huge headache. Plus when you get rid of it and put in a TORS eliminator kit the throttle response becomes alot better.

What Mains and Pilots for Pro Circuit
Handyman replied to Quad-Dog's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I have K&N filter pods and Pro Circuit Platinum with T304 silencers and run 340 mains with stock pilot at 400 feet above sea level. Hope this helps -
Yes they make pods for stock carbs and yes you have to rejet. I'm at 400 feet above sea level and running Dynajet 340 mains with needle on 4th clip and runs like a champ. I have a 99 shee with stock carbs
-
I agree...If your compression is at 120 I would leave everything alone and ride it like you stole it.
-
Give me a PM after the first of Nov. if you still have them. I have a tire that isn't keeping air and I sispect it's a bend lip on my rim.

Would you go to jail for this? Joke
Handyman replied to dnhyoung's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I wouldn't go to jail, my wife's are about that big and she only weighs 140 -
I could be wrong but if it was the throttle it would do it when not in gear as well. Do you have TORS on it?? If not I would check where the cable goes into the carb cap. The little metal housing sleeve would come out of the adjustment screw and keep it one of my slides open. I would also lube your slides just to make sure it isn't the slides sticking. Hope you find out what is the cause, good luck.
