Wit hthe gas prices now and what they are expected to be I was thinking about getting a street bike.by means of a crotch rocket. i was told by my wife that if I get crotch rocket she will divorce my ass. My question is should I borrow one from a friend and see what she does or not.......I honestly feel that if getting a street bike is the cause of a divorce than our marriage isn't strong at all. What would you guys and gals do in this situation???

Would a small bore job cause this?????? It's bore to the 2nd over size from stock....I think that's a 64.50mm bore job

Well I just got home from from the stealership and they are more stumped than I thought. The manager "Ted" said that the cylinder is firing at idle and comes back at the top of the RPM's of every gear and is not firing in the middle of the RPM range unless they milk it but even then it will cut out. They have a new out of the box banshee that they used as a donor bike for all ignition components,(stator, CDI, plug wires, box the plug wires connect to, etc). and there was no change. Even changing out the spark plugs made no difference. Ted said they have basically eliminated everything except the carbs. He also said that there might be a broken wire in the wiring harness but not sure. His guys were in the process of swapping out the wiring harness when i was there so we'll see if that changes anything. I did ask about the plug wires being corroded like NYUK mentioned and he said that when he changed out the wires from the new banshee there was no difference. I asked about the air gap on the stator and he said again that the stator from the new banshee didn't make a difference. He cleaned all electrical connections and grounds and still no difference. Ted said that he's been around banshee's since they came out in '85 and has never seen anything like this before. he said that he's worked on thousands of banshee's when he was down in the Riverside and Lake Elsinore area and never had one that he couldn't fix in a day or two and never had a situation like this. We both agree that when he finds the problem it will be one of those things where you just want to smack your self on the head and say " why didn't I look at that earlier". The best part is.....my bill so far is only $65.

I double checked myself and all the jets are the same size. That was one of the first things I did.

I haven't talked to the mechanics since this morning...I will be calling in a few to see if they will trim the wires back a little.

Well I just talked to the Yamaha shop I have taken my banshee to since the left cylinder stopped firing again and I was tired of messing with it. They said they have ran every diagnostic check on the damn thing they can think of and can't find the problem. The have ran it up and down the street and have duplicated the problem. The manager said when I was explaing the problem he didn't believe me at first but now does. He said there is no air leak. he said it's as if the left cylinder was turned off with a key. he has called in all his most experienced mechanics to try to find the problem and they have been working on it all day. From what I am told they should find the problem either today or tomorrow(hopefully) because all they have left is the carbs and a couple small things left. The manager said that even though they have been working on it for 3 days all they are charging me at this point is $65. He said he has never seen anything like this before in his 17 years as a yamaha mechanic.

I live in Ca.

I'm in the exact same position you're in. I have screwed with mine for almost a year now and thought I had it fixed but it came back the other day. I gave up and took it in to see what they say. I should get a phone call today and I will post here when they tell me what they found wrong. Let's hope they know what the hell they are talking about.

Ok people I have a question for all of you. If I had $4000 in my hand what kind of condition of a YFZ450 would I get (i.e mods, year, etc) I am located in central cali just out side Fresno, Ca. and wouldn't mind driving a couple hours to meet. I posted this on YFZcentra.com and thought I would post this here as well. l

Y do you have to be in Mich. I have a 98 CR250 race ready I wan tto trade for a banshee. This sucks.

Handyman replied to csrmel's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
to add to this...disconnect ALL electrical connections that go to this black box -
Would you consider trades??

From the research I've done and from what you guys have said it sounds like a pain in the ass. I think just replacing the valves will be the way to go. I don't want to buy a R1 motor and fscrew up the way it works if i don't have it level/straight in the frame and ruining the frame if that happens.
-
Well I found out today that my raptor has bent valves due to the timing being off. The compression test came back with 0 compression because of that and the fact that the seal on the head is non existant. Since I have to tear the top half of the engine off how hard would it be to stuff a R1 engine in the frame and what modifications would I have to do to the frame and engine mounts?? Any insight would GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

DAMN IT JUST WHAT I WAS LOOkING FOR AND IN MY PRICE RANGE......but on the other side of the U.S. doesn't do me any good...... DAMN THIS SUCKS...

I would suggest a 27.5 pilot and 340(roughly) main jet and move your clip to the 4th position.
