I'm not sure I have this in the right spot and if not I apologize. Now that I have a properly running banshee I for see myself buying tires within the next 6 months. The dirt in the area I live in is a hard packed clay when dry and sticky as hell when wet. When it comes to tires for these things I have have no clue since there are so many types out there. I'm looking for something that has a bit more traction on the hard packed clay over the stock tires I have now. Not only to I need traction for the hard packed clay but in the turns of the track I ride the dirt has come loose from all the braking and accelerating in and out of the turns so I need something that has traction in loose dirt and hard packed clay. Any help from you banshee gods and goddesses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Dude if you were closer I would be all over it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm. I'm in central cali. How close are you to Washougal(sp?)?

HOLY CRAP!!!! Talk about a beast.....I know I didn't tap into the full power of that thing. I never did go into fourth gear. I played on the short track getting used to the banshee and learn what it will do in the turns if I do certain things and learn how it reacts while jumping. I went to the big quad track and played on it for a few laps but until I get comfortable on the banshee I won't be hitting many big jumps at first. The stock suspension was actually kinda soft and flew in the air pretty nicely. There are 3 tracks on the Naval base I'm on. There is the small track, quad only track and the dirtbike only track. The smal track is fairly short and has small jumps which is where I learned how to ride a dirtbike for the first time so I will learn my basic stuff there. In 2 weeks I will haev picture and a video of the tracks.

I can get pics but don't have a camera.Camera is with the wife in Scotland

yep still have the stock suspension on it

Well after all the crap I have had to deal with since buying my banshee a year ago I am hitting the track for the first time tomorrow. I scoped out the track on my way to work and there are a couple big hits out there. I went and paid for a year membership for the track on the naval base I am located on. The guy who runs it said that there is one jump out there that he said I have to be in the top of 4th gear to make it. The track is about a mile long and was rebuilt by Racer X magazine so it should be pretty good. When my wife gets back from Scotland with the video camera i will hook up my helmet camera and take you all out for a ride. Let's just hope I don't kill myself let alone the banshee.

try taking the needle out and moving the clip to the 4th position from the top. As far as the the sticky throttle......try lubing the slides with some 2 stroke oil and see how that works.

I guy I work with is in the hunt for a banshee. He has $3k max in his hand(from what I understand) but would like to spend $2500 if possible. He said all he would like for mods is after market pipes and silencers otherwise all stock would be fine. This would be his first quad and is hell bent on buying a banshee. We are located in Central Cali and would like to find something within a days drive. Thanks in advance.

Try a 310 main on BOTH sides and put clip in 4th position on the needle.

I have 270, 280, 290, and 340's....

******UPDATE****** The banshee lives. Ted, the service manager called me this morning with good news saying they found the problem. He states the problem was that my jeting needle on the left side was damaged. He said that needle was causing the air to become turbulant as it would flow over the needle causing the gas/air mixture in the cyclinder to be shitty. he said after the owner saw the banshee sitting there still he got involved and got his hands dirty. The owner supposedly pulled the carbs and worked on them for about an hour and cam back and said that needle felt rough to the touch. so they took a magnifying glass and looked at it and saw that there were some knicks in it. They put in a new jet kit and said the bike ran better but not perfect. they pulled the 340 mains and put in 280 main and said it was running lean so they installed 310 mains and they said it felt like someone dropped in some octane booster because it was a whole new bike. When I got there I wanted to start it and when I did the exaust on the left side was a hell of a lot stronger and healthier than when I took it in. So they are blaming the needle. I think that when they took the jugs off and started looking in there and put it back together that they may have found something and didn't realize it becasue I doubt that a needle would cause all that headache. The best part is is that all I paid was the $65 diagnostic check and paid for the FMF Jet kit. I didn't apy for any labor. As far as the damaged needle..I'll blame the first dealership i took it to becasue they installed the jet kit and when I took the needles out I was extremely careful not to touch them with anything. So now that it runs I will be jumping on the 660 raptor in my garage and get it running. I will like to thank everyone for all the help.I don't think I can find any other place where total strangers would offer their help this much.

Nothing new yet on the banshee. I called today and they had removed the top end to see if maybe that could be the cause. Once they get it together I hope they found something that was the cause.
-
They haven't found anything yet. I'm going to call and see if they have any ideas as to what it may be. If anything I'll just pull it our of the shop and park it in my garage and do some more research on what it could be. I don't want to start ordering parts and find that the parts were good and didn't need to order them.

Well if I knew bikes were chick magnets i would have bought one instead of my dirt bike...If getting numbers is this easy....I'm in trouble. The room mate is now in a new relationship so that's out of the question...plus she's like a sister more than anything..... My roomie and I were talking about this last night and she and feel that my wife has to have me near her at all times. It is very rare for just one of us to go to the store and one not go. She gets mad when I go get a haircut without her, or go to the mall to get the special dog food for out Siberian huskies(because they can't digest Soy) or when I go to the track and ride the dirt bike she has to go even though she sits in the truck being bored. She's very materialistic. Like my roomie said....She has a very demented idea of what love is.

You and I both say the same thing or it's going to be a combination fo a couple things. As far as what the plug looked like on the dead side.....have no clue. they swapped out the plugs so I didn't get to see them. The screen in the petcock was good...the petcock was brand new because the old one had a hole in the screen so I replaced it. I have a feeling that it's either some thing that is staring at us right in the face that we are over looking or it's something majorly serious that we haven't clued in on.

They swapped out carbs from another banshee that was brought in for servicing and had the TORS eliminator kit on it and still no difference. They removed the jugs to see if there was any kind scoring on the wall or piston and he said that it looked Brand new. I tolds him that there might be 3 hours on the engine since I had the top end redone and he said that would explain why it looks brand new. They called and asked about the history of the bike and I told them what I knew. I told him that the bike was flipped and bent the handle bars from a dead stop. he said that gave hima couple more ideas what to look at. He said my bill was still at $65 since the diagnostic check has brought nothing as to what is wrong with the thing.

i was thinkging the same thing..... At first the sex was a major factor but now......What ever. i went through a 6 year dry spell and I can do it again if i had to, but not if I had the choice. From the last post you and Brooke posted I know you see how I feel.

You didn't offend me in any way.....

My room mate said the same thing...... but in a nicer way. My room mate loves my wife like a sister but she says that she can tell that I'm not at all happy.

We have no kids so that won't be a factor. When we do discuss kids she says that I have to trade in my truck for the baby moile because she doesn't like 4 door cars or SUV's and she likes her '01 mustang GT. So I don't forsee us having kids anytime soon. She has some issues that needs dealt with. I honestly don't see us married 5 years(at the longest) at the rate things are going. She tries to be very controlling in the relationship.

Top end rebuild.....I bought the bike and it was doing this. I rode the bike 2 weeks before I bought it and it ran fine. I bough the bike and the problem showed up out of nowhere. I knew the history of it and it never had any problems until after I bought it and rode rode for the first time as the actual owner.

Yeah everytime I bring up the subject she tells me that if I get a street bike that I might as well bring the divorce papers with it. I don't know where she got the idea that one bike is safer than the other. I told her that the type of bike doesn't make it any safer......it's the rider who makes the bike safe or dangerous. I do understand her worrys about other drivers and being seen but when she says what i can and can't have and I'm 27 years old........yeah ain't gonna fly. When we just got together and I bought my dirtbike she threw a fit. She told me that I didn't discuss it with her and that I should have told her I was buying a dirt bike etc etc.......I told her that we weren't married and that if it bothered her that much than we shouldn't be together.....she changed her tone real quick. I'm trying to find someone I know that will let me borrow his bike over the weekend so i can see what her reaction would be.
