  1. With my mods and bad clutches I made 47hp. You aren't going to make 53 with just some pipes.
  2. Well got to ride today and it ran great. It has never picked me up on dirt before so I guess my clutches were pretty bad. The shift star works well, very good mod for the money.
  3. I don't know what kind of port that is, pics are kinda fuzzy. You could smooth out the exhaust ports though, it will give you a little more top end.
  4. Yes that could happen. Take off your air box lid, take out your filter and look into the carbs so that you can see your slides. Adjust your idle screws so that they both open and close at the same time. Open them up a little and try and get it to run. If you get it running, adjust your idle screws until you get the idle where you like it.
  5. If you have the money to get all the things you need then get the cubs. The cubs will have a lot of top end power. If you are going to ride in sand with paddle tires you might want to get a +4 extended swingarm also so you aren't flipping over backwards all the time. You could also get +4 crank with the cubs.
  6. I have a 1977 Chevy Silverado I am going to fix up. 70-78 are my favorite styles. After I am done I hope to run in the 12s in the quater mile.
  7. I think you are gona need some bigger carbs for the cubs to get full power output. Why get cubs and run small carbs reducing the power output? If you get the cubs you will need to get your crank trued and welded or it is just going to come apart, may be the first ride or a year later but when it goes so will other things. The pipes will probably be ok but would be better with some shearer or cpi's. If you don't ride in any water then I would get some clamp on k&n's. The V3 reeds will be fine. You will need the reed spacers if you get bigger carbs, which you should do. The boost bottle you won't need unless you just like it for looks. If you get the p&p with a +4, you will benefit using bigger carbs. This also depends on what type of p&p you are getting ( drag, dune and play).
  8. I didnt think so. I wanted to go ride today and test it out but the people at the dyno at LS got my wheel nuts on so tight when I tried to take them off all I did was turn over the motor. I will have to bring it to work and use the impact to get them back off.
  9. I would try it at 280 and look at your plugs.
  10. I see that right now your banshee is 100% bone stock. If you get porting or cubs you are going to want some new pipes and bigger carbs. Wether you get cubs or porting you are going to want to have your crank welded and trued. If you get bigger carbs, pipes, and the cubs I am thinking you will make more power than the p&p with a +4. To get everything you will need for the cubs it will cost over a grand if you do it right.
  11. It is a waste of money.
  12. After installing the new star are there any adjustments that need to be made so that it shifts right?
  13. The Noss head wont give you as much of a power gain as pipes or filters but it does give some. Depending on what size domes you get will determine the compression you have. If you get 17cc domes and are pushing 160psi compression you will prolly have to run race gas. I got a Noss head with a set of 20cc domes. Now my engine runs 15 degrees cooler and looks better.
  14. I would say you will have around 40hp. You will get a good power gain and will notice the difference.
  15. That is one of the longest sentences I have ever read.
  16. Ok so im an idiot. I was wondering why it wouldnt pull off, guess I should have checked the other side . O well, live and learn. Thanks for the info
  17. I am lost. This is the first time I have looked under the cover on this side.
  18. Ok I got my clutch basket off but how do you get the mechanism off that is in front of the shift star. I can't seem to figure out how to get to it so I can put my new shift star in.
  19. Ok. Ill just build me a tool here at work to hold the hub in place and use our air impact to get the nut off. Thanks for the info.
  20. Just get the pipes and everything you need to fit them. Since you want to keep your air box get the jet kit and a k&n filter that will fit inside the box. You will have to change your main jets but it is real easy. Set your needle on the 4th clip from the top and your pilot jets should be fine. You might have to adjust your air screws a little to get a good throttle response.
  21. I went to replace my new clutches today. I pulled the side cover off, took off the pressure plate, and removed the clutches. I am also going to install a shift star from boonman so I need to get the center hub off. Is the nut that holds it on regular threaded or reverse threaded? Are there any special tricks to getting it off or is it best to just use an impact? I tried using a a wrachet and holding the break but no go. This is my first time to do this so any help would be much appreciated.
  22. Before you go changing out your pilot jets try adjusting your air mixture screws. For the idle adjust your idle screws until it will idle without the choke on and make sure the slides in the carbs open and close at the same time.
  23. What elevation do you live at?
  24. That is what I told him.
  25. A friend of mine was wondering if anyone has ever tried one of these things. Says its supposed to extend your swingarm by 2 inches using some brackets and new bolts.
