  1. I get that everyone wants to know everything they can before making a decision. However the few people above that called with a serious inquery got the complete rundown. People have to understand that this is how people make their money and you don't wanna tell any ol' joe your process. Why Tell the paying customers, because once doing business you hope that people would have the respect to tell others just enough to make some one else want work done, not go to a cut rate machine shop do the work. Yeah the cat might get out, but this is just how business gets done. I don't think he is hiding anything. I do know he stands behind his work. Go ahead and start a thread asking all of out site sponsors to give an exact rundown of the specs and angles of their port work. You would only get generalizations
  2. Huh, I guess the foreign air is a lot more dense so they dyno really nice on the estimatometer. That is with all correction factors involved.
  3. Hmm, not sure if this is the right place......
  4. Very stellar of you to be up front phelps.
  5. That should make a fun and snappy little ride. Not sure it would walk all over properly ported stockers. My old Vito's 404 motor ran on 34mm pj's and it was a trail/back road style bike and I think they are ana option worth testing if you are going through the trouble to see what you can get out of it. Not to mention that you can get a pair for a relatively cheap price nowadays. In my opinion, I would say these are a good midrange quality product at a decent price suited for the guy with .080 cylinders that are pretty much done. Not every one needs a big bad totally trick 4 mil. But for the high school kid with minimal dollars and just wants a little more oomph, these are perfect. Yeah you can justify that if you're already spending the money just get a cub, serval, twister, etc. but then if you are doing the cub you might as well do the full reach around with all the goodies. That shit can get expensive and the average trail guy won't justify that. That is where an aftermarket "Replacement Cylinder" like an Athena comes in. Apparrently it is possible to get some good numbers out of these things though. Wicked has some experience with massaging them, and rumor is that Rob at RDZ is using these as his platform to make "Eliminator" cylinders. So I guess if a guy just wants to replace his stock cyls with new unused stuff with out doing a major rebuild, these could be a good ticket. Then if they realize they want more it can be ported
  6. Agreed.
  7. So, he made good on his word and showed that he can run with the big hoss and now it looks like everybody is over the hater hill. Good stuff, just act like you hate each other at the track so the four poke fucks don't get to thinking you're getting soft.
  8. I get it, Greg is your friend. I get the feeling you wouldn't be sticking up for some one else had you not been a regular and not got what you were supposed to. Also, I am not pulling a beef with you, but your statement here is contradicting. You mention that it isn't a kosher idea to talk with customers about issues with other customers, but you are able to call over there and meddle in some one else's transaction. Facts are, Greg again has not done what he would say. That is the issue at hand. Not the quality of his product. He has an AMAZING tranny! I agree, but he just can't stay consistsant on his word. When there is a problem he gets very defensive and near explosive on the phone. You don't say to customers what he said to me after waiting months. When you are in the business world, you can make mistakes as long as wou are willing to address them and make it right. Phelps you might have had great service and the fact that you can call him the way you have says he may view you as more then his average customer hence the quality of your service. I don't ask you to agree with my statements, but the FACT is this is not the first time the credibility of WCR has been blasted. Greg, if you are reading this. C'mon man! Sit down, and figure out what needs to be tweaked or who needs to be hired to help you out. Your transmissions kick ass, but there are a lot of people out there with a sour taste in their mouth
  9. Awe man! This makes me wanna go back to the old days when I'd kick some ones door in over a bunk sack of dope. Tell ya what, the roofing crew I was on hits up oklahoma quite frequently. They live for broken knuckles and beer, just buy the beer.
  10. Well maybe he did jump the gun. However he was quoted a price and over charged because Greg forgot? He was quoted shipping specifics that were not met and not due to the postal service. Greg no doubt cuts a great tranny and has pioneered some things that many said couldn't be done. But the fact is he is a machinist/builder, not a fucking business man. I waited months before I finally gave up, so I guess I jumped the gun? Greg does have a habit of avoiding customers when there is a problem and it is something that needs to be addressed or he will eventually be getting his dinner from the soup kitchen. Phelps, I get that you have a good repor with him, but the fact is a mans word holds as much weight as the product they offer. So it's 50/50, and if you only score 50% on a test, that is a failure. I don't hate the guy, but there are other guys that you can pay for a great product, and SERVICE. So if he wanted to hop on hq and make a public apology for his lack luster habbits and make damn sure his shitty defensive attitude was put away when there is a problem, I would be more then happy to recommend his service. The thing is, my negative experience wasn't his first and BKM's probably won't be the last. I hope I'm wrong, but............ Any time there is a problem with some one like say, Jeff at fast, you simply make the call and say blah blah. The response is always "I will take care of it" and it gets taken care of. You call Greg with a problem and get a story, excuse, maybe even a lie, and it still doesn't get taken care of. I waited months for my shit. I sort of wish I made it public right away, maybe it would of been taken care of in weeks instead.
  11. My experience with WCR http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=153436 No doubt Greg can do a good tranny, but running the logistics of a business and customer service are definitely not his strong points. I think he should stick to the machine shop and hire a shop hand to take the calls and work the shipping table and maybe his business will take off the way he intended. Long story short, you will probably get your tranny, but it will take a while and you will get no price cut. If you do it will require an angry phone call. Move on, use some one else next time.
  12. You do realize that flat track and drag racing are totally different? There is another section for this
  13. You will have a million suggestions but I guess I will the first to turn the wheels. You already have a lot of desirable parts on that bike(one in sig). So you will probably be able to sell or even trade for what you will need. There are a ton of site sponsors who port and they are good, but they are mostly dune/drag builders. If you are serious about an oval/TT motor, you need to e-mail Jim at Passion Racing Engines. Do not bothe calling, he keeps himself from answering calls so that he can get work done. My motor took a while but he has quit his other job and is focusing on his engine program now so I suspect his turnaround is getting much better. There are a few threads on bike set up so take the time to look it over and develop questions.
  14. Gonna be building an old RZ350 cafe racer for the track and I think I may have cam do the tranny for me. It just feels like doing business with locals when you deal with guys on here
  15. Chrome? If you want it shiny but don't got the cash, learn to fucking polish. Quit being lazy or learn to like the look of raw pipes. I bought the last set of original rockets but they were raw. To shine them up I just bought an aggressive buffing wheel with nylon rope sewn in to it, standard firm wheel, and a fine wheel. I keep plenty of REAL polish in the garage but bread and butter is black emery, white tripoli, and red jewlers rouge. I start with the pipe wrapped with a towel on one end and put it in a vise. Then I use the aggressive wheel with the black emery on a high speed drill. Next is the firm wheel with tripoli. Follow that with the fine wheel and rouge. Use a high end metal or chrome polish and your dick beater with an old towel to give it that wet luster. I use Master formula(masterformula.com) my RAW rockets look like chrome and they will never flake or chip. Another option is ceramic, there is a company called NitroPlate.com and they do all that bad ass "chrome" looking work on NHRA top curlers and funny cars. I was quoted $22 bucks a foot on 2 stroke exhaust by them. However, some 2 stroke pipes respond well to ceramic coating and some are affected negatively by it. It just depends on how the pipe is designed to move the heat. I know for a fact that Matt Shearer has dynoed a set of his sb if pipes and it ruined the way the heat moved in his pipes and they were definitely effected negatively. So beware, you would be the guinea pig
  16. I Really love my WCR Pro Mod, but the way Greg talked to me on the phone means he will be getting a swift head but in the nose if we are ever in the same place. So not only is it about a quality product but it is how you talk to customers. I have had had problems with site sponsors but typically they make it up to you and make things right. Not Greg. He was a major asshole after he messed up a bearing order. However, the tranny is amazing but it isn't something that a quality machinist couldn't do. Every other dog removed, mating edge of the cogs back cut, faces of the gears cut, micro polished, and Cryo treated. I believe the Cryo to be a highly beneficial part of the process because the way a stock tranny is hardened is really only affecting it's outer surface. So once you machine the tranny you actually cut some of the hardened surface away. So it must be re hardened.
  17. No need for me to explain, http://www.ebay.com/itm/230823942000?redirect=mobile#ht_500wt_922
  18. Yeah, I have scoured Michigan for actual OG originals. They are everywhere here, but no one will part with them.
  19. For now the banshee reigns, but it will eventually fade...... Not any time soon, but the aftermarket technology is going to eventually make the efi obsticle a thing of the past and soon enough there could be multi cylinder pokers with ultra light motors and frames so it will be well beyond the capabilities of what a streetbike conversion would do. Those big KFX 700 v twins make big power, I am curious as to why no one has swapped one into a kfx450. It would be a heart breaker if a quality swap was done to factory finish. Eventually they will have the bigger cases and their 800cc rappy could then be 1000cc. Sounds far fetched, but it is only a matter of time. The two stroke is no longer the mx king, and has now lost the pikes peak reign, so I hope I have moved on to another hobby or died before it happens.
  20. I think I remember you posting in the flat track forums. Ice racing if I remember right? I don't really think that cylinder would perform the way you would want it to unless it is strictly larger open tracks. Not to mention the cost of properly setting that thing up might not exactly be worth it for you. Have you thought about some porting?
  21. Suck! My! Dick! I have been scouring the Internet here in Michigan for another set of Original Borrink built originals. They are all over on built bikes but no body wants to part ways unless they sell the whole bike. I even offered shearers and still got no! There is a lot of bustle about these pipes again, I wish Tom would buy the original rocket brand back off Dave and make them again. I love the way mine perform but not the way the fit. They are literally they the last set of stampings before the dye was lost in storage!
  22. Oh well builder, guess your redline cub is really just a pussy. Guess cam is just a hack. Guess you will have to just accept the fact that you sir have a proper turd.
  23. We do have another Aussie on here. His name is Dirtydownunder. See if he is close to ya so you can speak in person with some one who has already been there done that on a banshee. He has a pretty trick motor. Also, you could buy cylinders from here in the states, drop ship them to a builder here to port. Then get everything you need shipped to you and have zero down time other then how long it takes you to build them. Then sell your cyls to an Aussie for top dollar because he wasn't smart enough to come to BHQ for a solution.
  24. It can be done, not reliably though. A 7 mill is supposedly putting the port heights to their limits though, so new sleeves are definitely in order. It will cost a lot and not be any faster then a proper cub build. So it's up to you if you are in to the whole stealth thing or if you just wanna go as fast as your dollar can let ya. FYI, John Stalworth at JSR builds them. I know he does a ton of the 7 mils. He is also responsible for the efi boom in banshees and several pikes peak motors
  25. Needle is easy. Pull the cap. Finger fuck the spring out of the slide and compress it against the cap. Push the cable down and out. Use a phillips driver or nut driver to push down and turn the spring loaded lock 90*. The needle is now free As for jetting, never put any carbs on your bike with out researching and knowing what is inside them jet wise. You could of blown that thing up and made an Uh Oh I think it's toast thread. Those pj carbs are pretty easy. Mark the choke knobs so you can turn them out in sync to set the idle. Should be out about 7-7 1/2 turns. As for jets a 55 pilot, needle in the middle, and a 155 main should be enough to get you started on your mods. You will probably lean it up a touch past that. I think in the end you might be about 48, second clip from top, and a 150/152. Give that a try and report back with results
