  1. Holy shit Elkas are getting cheap!
  2. The Elkas will do just fine and then some. But for what you said your budget and intent for the bike, I'd say you might as well skip LT and just find some nice +2 A arms. Nice LT shocks are gonna be about a grand. Maybe less if you find nice used ones. But if that deal you have on Elkas is legit, grab them up.
  3. Get it wide open for a few seconds in 6th gear ,pull the clutch in and shut it down while in motion. You can coast or brake. As long as the clutch is pulled in, it doesn't really matter. Pull the plugs, and give them a view. You'll know if it's close. If the plug is wet and clean, don't bother even cutting it open. If it hesitates, pops, or pings don't keep trying to get it to rev out.
  4. I've snagged my labia on the toilet seat. It kinda hurts...
  5. They are out there. I think there is a chart on PJ Motorsports. If not, I've always found them pretty quick on google.
  6. Only a reference number for someone familiar with a particular platform. Not sure how to say that any clearer.
  7. Now offering weld in foot peg bungs?
  8. The math I referred to would be actual calculated compression ratio or uccr.
  9. Meh, granted you how a particular motor set up reads it can be a good reference. But if it's all foreign, do the math. The big single cylinder motors typically have the higher static pressure then a lot of multi cylinder setups due to the big ass transfers they get.
  10. Hmm, the LT I did in the summer kicked upper 160's and had about .060 squish on OEM gaskets.
  11. If there isn't any porting, figure out what OEM gasket thickness is. I rebuilt one for a guy not long ago and it was a .040 head gasket for sure. I'll see if I can get a base gasket size on one of the parts receipts. Get the cylinder sitting where it needs to be, then get your measurements. I'd bet the head has been milled, but doubtful that it's been rechambered.
  12. I am pretty sure the stock head gasket is supposed to be in the .040 thou range. Can't remember what the base gasket should be. Yet you still have quite high compression with mega squish, and with the compression you are saying it has, that head has gotta already cut well beyond .030-.040. Taking more material off could be disasterous.
  13. Do not mill that head to fix squish with out figuring out the gaskets. You will turn that crank in to shrapnel with more compression. Are you a mechanic?
  14. Around here, they are on 4x4 utility quads. If I'm in the trails and have gas..... Good bye.
  15. Depends on the pipes.
  16. Newest edition of Clymers you can find.
  17. There is a line of dummy's who will be willing to tell you this is assanine. However in my experience, there is a shit load of truth to your theory there. FYI, my 4mm flywheel is weighted...
  18. Header wrap isn't making anything quieter....
  19. That's a lot of compression, so race gas is adequate. The squish is a bit excessive but not far off. Do some research on gaskets and see what that thing needs to be in the 50-60 thou range tops.
  20. Please get the fuck off your pedestal already....
  21. Seem mph drop and heavier bikes/riders bog off the line.
