  1. Maybe the problem is you don't know how to find these issues before purchasing them. Add to that, I doubt you are getting a REPUTABLE SELLER to sell you something set up PROPERLY by a SKILLED builder. Typical when someone wants everything for bottom dollar. Unfortunately you got a hard education from some purchases. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. ^ re read what you qouted. The answer to your question is already there. Most Nikasil stuff rarely needs the Diamond hone if you rebuild at regular intervals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. No, not at all. In fact the Nikasil is far easier to deal with on a rebuild. Just wipe them out with acid if they have any aluminum left in the bore from a piston getting coolant. Then diamond hone on the spot. That's all doable in your garage. The Nikasil really can take a beating. If something happens to where it needs to be replated, you would of had to probably replace or at least bore an iron liner several sizes.
  4. Why not try and find a nice complete used top end that has been set up by a reputable builder. Lots of Redline, Fast, HJR, top ends for sale with cylinders, domes, and misc hardware for great prices. Buy one up, get it bored/honed for fresh pistons and have the same thing for far less. The niche cylinders are in fact trashy. I've seen them and was the complete opposite of impressed. If you want an OEM'ish cylinder get some used Stock cyls. They pop up on here untouched quite often for $250-300 a lot.
  5. If the bike has a timing plate or higher compression, it helps.
  6. You are pretty much right on the edge with that combo. Just because you get a static kicking compression of 140, doesn't mean it's really that safe. With Cub Cylinders they have a larger exhaust area and it allows some AFM to escape before the piston totally compresses the mixture and is fired. That translates to what "appears" to be a lower compression ratio.
  7. Crossed this bridge about 4-5 years ago. I thought I needed to go to the 530 stuff but did a lot asking around and found guys with way more power then I've ever had going way faster then I ever will, and they are still running 520 stuff. It just requires quality parts and good maintainence. Make sure the swing arm pivot bearings are in good shape and get a round house swing arm to keep things straight. The busa sprockets would never line up with out machining and the 530 chain just adds a bit more drag and weight. Just a whole mess that can be avoided with a few well thought out parts.
  8. ^ Your most golden comment this week. I really wish I could buy you a drink in person.
  9. VRX.... I hate you. I hope you stub your toe on a coffee table.

  11. The T5's 10 years ago were good when options were pretty much FMF, Pro Circuit, and Toomey. They allowed a little more RPM, which made a lot of folks happy. But in my experience, they are very lazy feeling off the bottom on anything without lots of compression and timing.
  12. T5's are lousy in comparison to the Trinity's.
  13. Hit me up if it falls through.
  14. You obviously don't have thousands to throw at it, so a realistic option would be to purchase nice clean used +2 arms for the front in the $275-450 range. Then quality used shocks. If you're patient, you can spot a set that is set up close to what you need/want. The rear shocks can get pricey for one unit, so maybe consider having a reputable shock company rebuild it to suit you. You could easily have a decent set up for under 2k. Just be savvy and do some research as to what's out there and what people's results are.

  17. Contact Dasa Racing. They have absorbed Trinity. If not them, call Harry at his new business McDermott Racing.
  18. Those trinity pipes are actually pretty great pipes. They easily outshine the FMF's, as well as a multitude of other run of the mill pipes.
  19. Haha, In all seriousness. This should be a cool build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
